Hey Wanda - we miss you in the room but understand you have been busy. How is Josh doing -- when does he have to report to his new command? We maybe planning a wedding in Savannah for next year, our daughter who is also at GA Southern is engaged (yikes) to an Army soldier, he is leaving for Iraq next week and they want to marry when he returns. Since our family and his family is spread all over the place and she feels like Savannah is her playground being at GSU - she wants to have the wedding there...may have to pick your head for suggestions.
Thanks for getting back to me. :o) That matter has somewhat worked itself out but another issue with the same company may need attention so I think we will give him a call. I cannot thank you enough. It seems they are really upset about him leaving. LOL I guess they should have taken care of him while he was there. LOL We should all get together sometime. Thanks again. :o)
Wanda how are you sorry it took so long to respond back but anyways i was the same way as youre son when i first got to gulfport and in the navy. my mom handled my finances and i was just having alot of fun being away from home on my own. it will calm down and he will soon realize he has to watch it. i actually worked at red lobster as a second job on hwy 90 to cover my crazy spending. make sure josh gets some college knocked out i cant stress how important that is i am 25 and just starting cause when i was first in i just partied and had fun which most young kids do. well take care tell josh to get his scw pin and make rank!!
Hope you were able to work out your emergency. You never have to apoligize for taking care of your family. :o) We will have to meet some other time. We were at Tubby's in Thunderbolt Sat. night for our Anniversary. We had a good time. I thought about you since we were close. Take care and keep in touch. :o) If I can ever do anything to help let me know. :o)
Wanda - good to hear from you - Ben is doing okay - he is working and going to his reserve weekends - says it is boring and I think that he is discouraged !!! He did volunteer for a program where he will go to Guam for a month and he will find out about that later. Glad to hear that Joshua is doing good and likes it in Gulfport. Keep in touch!!!!
We missed you today. :o( It was fun. My camera ate my pictures but Kim and Barbara took some and I'm sure will post them. Hope to meet yall some other time soon. :o)
Tell Mary UGH!! for me on the work thing. LOL Maybe we will just have to get together one weekend she doesn't have to go in. We can go on the boat to Williamson Island. That is a favorite thing for us to do. We have a 16ft Dauntless. I think that's how to spell it. LOL It's small but perfect for us. We have alot of fun on the water. I am so excited to talk about everyones sailors!! :o)
I am soooo excited to meet everyone. I hope several turn out to. Will you bring your partner? I am bringing Josh, Cody and Alex. Kyle's Birthday is today!! He is having dinner right now with several of his new friends. I sent him a care package and he has already received it. He PIR'd 7/17. He classed up just this Monday. He loves Pensacola!!! He did not like the north at all. He really enjoyed bootcamp though. He was totally ready and prepared for it. That makes a huge difference. I wasn't ready though. LOL I have been missing him something awful!!! I've had a few xanax days since he left. It's been hard letting go. :o( Kyle is the first to leave the nest. I am getting used to it now thankfully.
Has anyone decided on a time yet? I haven't checked the group yet. So it's probably already there. LOL Well looking forward to meeting local Navy Moms!!!
Well i was stationed in Gulfport for 5 years loved it down there and deployments are fun but depends on where you are going. what battalion is youre son in i was in NMCB 74.
Hello Wanda, My name is Becky. I am in need of serious advice. My son joined the Navy and the Seabees. All was going well, he graduated BC May 29th. My husband and I went to Great Lakes and found what we believed to be a changed and proud young man. We had a wonderful time there with him. He is now at Sheppard Air Base and has started his classes. All seemed well until he has been in contact telling us he wants out because they told him he will absolutely be going to either Iraq or Afghanistan. He is seriously
terrified and wants to come home. He says he is meeting with the chaplin tomorrow and hopes they will help him. It's not that we don't want him home but we truly believe the Navy will give Eric the education and future he will never get here. Do you know of anyone else who might have gone through this? do you think they tell them they are going to these countries? Can the Seabees go elsewhere? I want to support my son but I think and truly believe if he gives this up he will regret it. Please, any advice from you or anyone else who's child has been a SeaBee or is now will be so greatly appreciated. I want so much to ease his mind but I don't know where to begin. Thank you so much. Becky
What a wonderful Mothers Day gift! Your son home with you! I wish you the most wonderful memories. God Bless your Seabee. Please thank him for Being there beside my Seabee. Can Do!
Good to hear from you - Ben will graduate on May 20th and then is headed home - he is still wanting to try to go active - or at least volunteer to deploy with a reserve unit that is going overseas - I think that it will be a hard adjustment when he comes home - I really have "mixed feelings" about it all right now!!! I know you are excited about Josh coming home - it seems like they have been gone such a long time. I hope that he gets stationed on the east coast for your sake - But, Ben has loved California and has really had some great experiences there!! I don't think that he is anxious to leave!!!! Best wishes to you and your family!!!!!!!
