Another day closer to seeing that SAILOR and hugs and thoughts to you! Have an awesome day!!
Bonita, this is my first homecoming as well, and like you i will also arrive late in the day, Rhonda is a good informant on matters such as these..i normally find out a lot of info by catching the n4ms everyday,,I understand we have to have a pass to get on base that morning, and i am not surre how i will get one, i hope info keeps coming out as we get closer on. sorry, i could not help you any more than that, but i am glad your husband is going with your son, my husband and son will be joining our son as well, and i will bring up the rear! have a good day and if you find out anything let me know and i will you as well!!!
Hi Bonita, We just heard from Stuart today. He has orders to go to Guam in May. His sub is the USS Corpus Christie. He'll be coming home early May sometime before he ships out. Have you heard anything from Alex?
This is my understanding of it . . .
It's kind of a 'low man on the totem-pole' type thing . . . generally they have to work in the mess hall (throw back to 'peeling potatoes') or doing menial janitorial duties . . . another 'hoop' for them to jump thru to prove they're capable of doing what they're told:)! Depending on the how many and where they may be will determine how long they will have 'cranking' duties:)!
Hope that helps:)!
uhm, im really not sure, he didnt get to call tonite, but im thinking it had to do w/ the ships? I really hope he gets to call 2mrw nite tho, they wouldnt let him earlier
Thank you. I will tell Courtney to look him up and to give him a hug for you once she gets to the Eisenhower. Is this Alex's first deployment? It is for Courtney. How long did it take for you to get his address to send him things and write to him? I'm sorry about all the questions. Just being a Mom. LOL. Thank you once again.
Bonita, Do you mind if I steel your floatie idea, I am always looking for things to send my son in law. My daughter just got removed last year from the ike do to finding out she was pregnant, now only her husband is on board, and I always am trying to find funny things to send him.
No phone call here. Thank goodness! I read that e-mail from the Ombudsmen and my heart jumped into my throat. The reality of the danger is so hard to think about.
My son has been on the IKE since 11/2007, but this also is his first deployment. Lucky you getting a call! I'm jealous!
That is great news! We have watched on one of the Discovery Channels about life on a carrier. Have you seen them? I bet if you go online or maybe at Blockbuster you can find the series. They were very interesting! Do they have internet access onboard? Our internet provider is Cox. Stuart had set up an email (sub) account so we can email back and forth. Is this something that would work for your family and Alex?
Wow, that sounds like an exciting job for Alex. Hopefully, he'll get an email address soon. Would a cell phone work on ship? Will you be able to send care packages? You might include a digital camera so he can take pictures of all the places that he goes. It sucks to be the parent at home when you dont know where your "baby" is. Keep us posted when you hear from him!!!!!!
What is ABH? Did Alex get to come home before his deployment? Alex will be our prayers and we wish him Godspeed!!!!!!!!!!!!
How are you holding up? Do you know which ocean he will be sailing in? I cant imagine what it would be like for the sailors on the ships. How exciting it would be for them.
Hi! Wow, alex is already on a ship???? Which one? Did he finish his a-school or if i remember, he was waiting to start? Stu started sub school around the 12th of Jan. The week of January 5 was "processing week" for them. HE is in Groton Ct. He really likes it there. School is much more relaxed than boot camp. He wasnt much into studying while in High school but now he is putting much more effort into studying. I think BESS (basic enlisted sub school) lasts for 6 weeks. Then he goes to machanic school after that. I am still not sure if Stu stays in Groton for that. I think that is 7 more weeks (maybe). I am trying to get used to "empty nest" around here. Its getting too quite at times. Rachel, my daughter, is spending the night tonight with a girl friend. She's staying busy with her social life. My oldest son comes home from college maybe once a month or so. I am so glad to hear from you! I started to worry that something may have happened since I hadnt heard from you.
Did Alex order a yearbook? Stu did. It came in the mail this week. That was neat to look at. I was surprised, I didnt know he ordered one. I wished now I ordered a DVD of PIR.
I will include Alex in my prayers for a safe voyage and return.
Take Care, Patti
