Contact your local VFW. That what I did. I explained our Christmas Project and asked them if they could help with mailing the packages. I never expected them to pay for all the packages. I typed up a letter explaining our project and hand delivered it to the commander.
Give it a try.
My son's doing well, bought himself a car and he's probably spending every dime he makes on the weekends! Kids...But I do miss him so much, I know I won't see him for the holidays. Bummer
Dear Serena,
Yes! Got the emails. sorry for the delay. I had my EMT class last night and fell into bed as soon as I got home. No energy for computer time! I am enlisting the help of family, friends, casual acquaintances, strangers on the street (just kidding!) to help fill the 75 bags. All is well under control. I will have them in the mail by the 14th of November. Take care and have a great day. C
The VFW in Spring Hill is having a Benefit Dinner & Dance on Oct. 17 @5:30..all proceeds will be used to buy supplies for our troops..the cost is $16.50 per person...would you be interested
I'm so sorry that you still haven't heard from Robert but I'm sure you will soon. At least you know why he hadn't been emailing you. I guess you could always check Facebook to see if he has posted any updates.....it's like spying....lol.
Serena, that was a really quick turnaround for your son! WOW, deployed already.. My son won't be deployed for at least another 7-9 months (or so he thinks). He'll be on a ship, so that'll be a new experience for him for sure. Hopefully we'll get to see him again before his first tour, but I'm not counting on it. I'm sure your son is keeping busy and that's why he's not able to call/email you. Hang in there!
I AM SORRY SERENA BUT WAS NICE TO HEAR FROM YOU GLAD ALL IS WELL GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR SAILOR HAVE A NICE DAY P.S. YES IT IS THE SERENA IN TXAS THANKS SINCERELY ELSIE
Serena, my son will be stationed in Norfolk and I think he's happy with that. Just a few hours from his father's house, so he s/b able to visit some before getting deployed. He's done w/ his A School in FL and he's now home on leave till month end when he has to report. But as we all know, things can always change last minute with the Navy. Gotta learn to go with the flow. Things will work out for your son!
Hi Serena, I don't know if you were here when Pat started to put a birthday list together so we could send cards. I hope to send Christms cards as well. I don't see your name on the list (and I need a new keyboard...forgive the skips) my e-mail is jlwb98229@yahoo.com Some of the other moms are sharing the list so they can send Christmas cards as well. If you want I can put your son on my list and/or not share them with the other moms.
Hey,
I put up some more pictures of me and Robert on my profile if you want to look at them. I'm missing him so much and I was just making a special thing with all our pictures and that didn't help lol.
Serena,
I just found out a little while ago that the Nimitz page has been deleted. I don't know why this has happened and I am very sad. I have contacted the Navy for Mom's administrator to find out what happened so I will let you know what I find out as soon as possible. I do not have a full list of all the members of the Nimitz page so I am trying to let everyone on my friends list know. I hope that we will be able to get the page back but I am afraid that all the good information that we had on the page might be lost. We may have to start over from scratch with a new site but let me see if the administrator can help us any first. If you add me as a friend I will try to let you know what is going on and if we have to start a new page I will give you that information when I have it. By tomorrow night I plan on either having our old page back or a new page made.
Maggie
This is James 1st deployment also. He was excited. I put in the comments what he said on facebook before deployment "out seeing the world, back later" and I just keep reading it and thinking I hope he keeps that additude. Your son will be ok. they are kept so busy that I don't think they have much time to worry about anything else. At least that's what I'm hoping. Hope to meet you soon.
Diane
