Sent you a friend request - My name is Leah also - Oh Bless your heart in this trying time - I am so thankful for answered prayers for your son's well being - email me & I will give you my personal email - would really like to send words of encouragement to your son
No, I think it was a Costco cake...we just told them what to put on it. That was a surprise going away we did for him with all his friends before he left for boot. He thought we were doing a "family dinner" at his brothers house....but all the friends were there waiting for us! We really surprised him!
Hi Leah: thanks for the note. What is a "rack pack"? It was nice of your son to check on you. I'll pray for your recovery. I'm so looking forward to getting to know all of you better. It makes me feel closer to my Jon somehow. I really miss him.
Great looking young man, Leah! Boy they all look so young, don't they? I guess they have to be to do what they do. Glad to be your friend! Love your pictures!
I got your message. I'm thrilled that the 2 guys are working together. I'm at school... Having a hard time getting my computer here to open up the pages on N4M. It may be that I have to send you the PM from home later today!
Hi Leah, My Sailor/Son has been in since August07. He was in deck division, now PO3-GM3. He likes this division that he's in now. What does your Sailor do? How does he like it? I love your graphics that you've posted on my page & on the "sista" site.Hugs, M.J.
I think our boys may know each other, at least I keep trying to find people on here who I think may have a sailor in Jakes division. He's a aviation mate (I think) I know he works on repairing and rebuilding the Jet engines and is also in Atsugi. I'm going to send him an e-mail and ask it would be so nice to find a mom of one of his friends.
Oh okay. Well then you are aware of the inspirational line I got from that Leah's posting. Our son, Justin's, PIR is this coming Friday, Jan. 30th. We are flying up early Thurs. morn and I'm sure you remember how exciting that was. Our son is doing A school for IT for 3 months in PNS and he's told us that his goal is to go to Japan if given a choice. We've heard nothing but good about him doing that. What's your take on that? How long has your Justin been away? Are you able to go see him? He just graduated highschool in June 08 and was headed to 2 yrs community college then UCF. He was amongst the top in his class so we wouldn't have had to pay anything for the comm. college but he decided to get his education for free with the Navy. He'd been teeter tottering between military and college for 2 yrs. Bless your sailor and you all. And, by the way (since I'd looked at your page just now) my deepest of condolences. That must've been especially hard a loss of death and then your son leaves 2 months later-what a strong lady you must be!

Leah, welcome to the Central FL group. We'll hope to see you at the next gathering. I read your poem before-very very nice. Are you the same Leah that had the posting about your son being in bootcamp and one of the recruiters (or someone) said "If you feel like your heart is being ripped out-it is. But your son needs it more than you do"? If so-that really hit home for me (if not-glad to share it from the other Leah). That is great to think of it that way. The day he left for BC we were all 4 crying badly, also our son was. I couldn't hardly walk into the house because I was so upset.
my son is statino in Norfolk va he love it he even has a place with a few friends off base he is a ABH but right now he is a messdeck mate.He loves the Navy alot and being out on the water. Thanks for asking

Thank you, Linda
I have sent cookies many different ways. I have vacuum sealed them (the best way), placed in zip lock baggies, done as you did, and also placed them inside a short squatty coffee can. I have a friend that has sent them in Pringles cans with a note so he wouldn't think they were chips. Hope this helps. I haven't sent Jacob's box yet. Still putting it together. Next time I talk to Jacob I will ask him if Justin is going. I am excited that he may meet Laurie (Andrew's mom) when she goes in February!
The Lassen is part of the same fleet as the GW, the 7th (?). It is a destroyer that has traveled with the GW and has 2 of their helicopters assigned to it. He will still be part of the HS-14 just assigned to a different ship/boat. For now Jacob is still assigned to the GW with the HS - 14 just as Justin is. He just will be working at Kadena on DET for 14 - 16 days.. Jacob said the AF and Navy pilots will be showing off for each other. He travels with his helos. Wherever they go - he goes. While at Kadena he will be receiving regular pay but also a stipend per diem for living there. I understand the living quarters are very nice and I think they will be spoiled prior to going back to Atsugi. He played golf this weekend with Andrew, Laurie's son. Jacob's room is not with the majority of the HS - 14 due to not enough room, but the guys are trying to get him over with them. I know he goes over to their area a lot. I am not sure how far away they are from each other. What shift is Justin working? Jacob is now 4 PM - midnight, which he is enjoying right now. He said they are busy even then. How is your weather? I feel guilty telling you it was beautiful today and a cool 68 - 70 degrees. I had my windows open for a while and it felt wonderful. Even though we desperately need rain, I love this weather.
Hugs,
Dee
Hello, Leah!
Yes, I am missing Jacob terribly as usual, but I know he is happy to get back to "normal". He was sick the whole time here but was nice to have him home so I could mother him. He did get to go with his dad and sister to see his grandfather way out of town who was having heart surgery. I didn't have him for 5 days out of the 14. He stayed home the whole time including New Year's Eve excewpt to go snowboarding one day with friends. Since being back he has found out his going to the USS Lssen is on hold :) and he will be going to Okinawa to Kadena Air FOrce Base soon for about 16 days on DET. He said about 30 guys are going. Have you heard whether Justin is going?
ha ha! im kinda glad Chris went in so young, he gets to watch all the others mistakes and hopefully learn from them. He just got to coronado right before Christmas so I am hoping to go visit him in February or March. About a 6 hour drive from here.
I am actually a Green Bay Packer fan so no, we are not going to the game. Kinda wish we were though, I will admit, im def a "bandwagon" fan of the Cardinals. I love football and hate to see the season ending.
This town will go crazy if they win and go to the superbowl, im excited to watch the game tomorrow.
