Ohmigosh and whut the hecks?? Casey got married?? Married?? Wow. Was that something that was sorta on the table or just out of the blue? It sounds like she's a local girl - which is good, soo soo good. I'm so happy they'll be living close by. What a lucky treat for you. My own Sailor is stationed over at Bangor in Kitsap and she is only a 2 hour drive from home. So I completely understand what a relief it is to have your Sailor nearby. I often think of our old PIR buddies who haven't seen their kids in many months while I see mine nearly every other weekend. It's almost like she isn't in the Navy, just moved across the water. Wowwwwww. Married AND close to home for the next two years. That's great. When does he report to the Lincoln?? I have a friend who is one of the Ombudsmans, you can find her on here as "quadmommy" (yep, mom of 4 adorablly rambunctious boyz) if you have any questions. Speaking of questions, I'm full of them so spill it with all the details pretty please. Now I'm off to do a joyful dance at your good fortune! YAY!
I hope all your holiday's where wonderful! Did Casey come home for Christmas? I thought Joey told me that he left before him for the holidays. It's been so long since I've been on this website. Anything new and exciting?
I'm hoping to go to Pensacola either in a few weeks or the second week of
February. It was absolutely wonderful having Joey home for the Christmas holiday even though he seemed to spend most of his time at his friends. He left for Pensacola on New Year's eve and boy did I have withdrawls again. It was horrible seeing him go again. Please let me know how you are doing? I know that Joey was taking his mitt and balls to play catch with Correy.
Talk to you soon.

Hi Lorrie! My Sailor is loving A school and SA! She has entered Phase 2 and is permitted to wear civvie clothes and have off base liberty. Her A school is pretty fast paced and she'll be graduated by the first week of Feb09...or so, it's the Navy's time sched not mine. lol. She's going in the hole to get home for Christmas and she wont have enough time to make the days up before graduation so she wont be able to come home before her first duty station - but I'm trying not to worry about that. Not yet anyway. She phoned me yesterday (at 0430) to tell me she had picked her duty station and was excited that she got her number 1 spot - Bangor, Wa! Now, until I see the hard copies I wont believe it, but there is a chance -albeit a small chance- she might get stationed in our state. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I konw she wants to see the world and have some adventure, but I think close to home would be a good first duty station. Besides Japan isn't going anywhere, it'll still be there in 2 years. lol.
What luck that Casey is on hold in Pensecola - I've heard of Sailors stuck in Great Lakes. I can't even imagine a cold that cold. Brrr. Does Casey get to phase up even though he hasn't started school yet??
Oh Lorrie, you are so lucky. I have been having Sailor withdrawl since we left her and have been more than a little mopey. I know she's as happy as a pig in the mud and so excited to finally get to A school, but still I miss her. Much like your son I can't believe the difference in her, really like night and day. Bootcamp was amazing for that part and I'd almost advise most teens could use a good bootcamp experience (except not the whole no communication thing) Did Casey have you hold your arm and open all the doors for you, too??
Please let me know how Casey likes Florida. My Sailor is in Texas and she said it's "warm", but shoot after getting a taste of GL in November I think *here* is warm. lol
No flooding here yet either but boy is it wet. I thought I was ready too. I start counseling on Monday & am very excitted about it. I leave next Thurs.
Hi Lorrie, Tate went in on 9/24. I have all my reservations made. When are you leaving? We are taking a shuttle to & from the airport but we are going to rent a car after we get to the hotel. We are staying at the Navy Lodge. Tate hasnt said much to me about anything. Just being really busy in the 901 div. I miss him so much.
Yay! You're to PIR, right? When? Where are you staying? I'm going 19th-23rd, staying at Quality Inn. Are you going to Flanagan's the night before PIR? I can't believe my son has written such wonderful letters! He was rotten before he left! -Karen
In Joey's letter from Sunday, November 2nd, he said that they were starting live firearms tomorrow with a 9mm and 12 gage shot gun, he was very excited about that... He did say that they won another flag, so they were hopeful that they would get a call home this week. He also said that the male RDC (Chief) was great, but the female RDC second in command was horrible. I'm getting so anxious, but I've been busy. I sent Joey a letter asking what he needs to take to Pensacola for A School. I know the kids wear civilian clothes on the weekends and I've packed socks, t-shirts, boxers (he's going to love that part) shaving items, he has all of his stuff is at home, so why buy additional undergarments at the NEX when he arrives. Oh, it's getting so close and I'm so excited to see my son.
My son said in his letter today that they may get phone calls on Friday which we assume will be tomorrow. He has said that there has been a lot of recruits who find it difficult to follow the rules. That was why they only had a 10 minute phone call 2 weeks ago. It could be the RDC too. He said that 7 recruits got sent back and 6 more should be. It's funny because he's 24 and is seeing this experience from mature eyes. He could have been like that when he was younger. Even if we don't get phone calls tomorrow, it won't be long and we'll see them. Thanks for answering my comment.
Congratulations on the vote! I'm so happy for you, both that hubby is back to work and even happeir that he will also be able to atted Casey's PIR. That is great news all around! Tory also writes every week and, just like your boy, is loving it. Maybe not loving it exactly...but she writes phrases like "today was the best day ever!" and stuff. Sure makes this old mom's heart happy. I've got a busy day and need to get my letter written early so I'll sign on now. ~Marie
Hi Lorrie! I just wanted to check in with you and see how you're doing?? I hear your hubby might be going back to work soon - does that mean he can then go on "vacation" and attend PIR with you?? Keep your fingers crossed we get a letter tomorrow.
Oh Lorrie! Just reading your comment made me cry. The first phone call is such a huge rush. I'm thrilled to hear he's enjoying himself. There is nothing like hearing those words right out of your own recruits mouth....especially after all the worry we moms go through to get to this point. Not only are you gonna sleep the good sleep tonight, but you're gonna be so high you'll float along as you await the next word from him. =)
Hi Lorrie,
I got the call too. I was at the gym on the bike and I could feel Joey’s phone vibrating in my sports bra…LOL! Joey said that he would call me on his phone since he wouldn't remember my cell #.
I looked at the phone screen and I could see it was a 847 area code, (which the mom’s on NavyforMom.com have been saying to keep a look out for).
I got so nervous that I could barely remember how to actually answer the phone. I finally pushed buttons and said “hello", really expecting it to ring some more, since I probably didn’t press the right button… and I hear “Hi Mom” (sweetest words I’ve ever heard). Can you imagine I instantly started crying. I had to get off the bike, grab my water bottle and towel and head for the lockers. Thank God it was quiet in the lockers and no one way there, so we got to talk a bit. He “thinks” he is going to graduate on time. He kept saying only 4 people mom at the graduation. He did say that they are removing wisdom teeth, which I hate the thought of that without me (do to infections etc.)
Hi Lorrie! I was sniffing around the site and noticed another local mom with the same PIR date as you. Check her out at this link.... http://www.navyformoms.com/profile/MomoffuturesubCS
Hello! Congrats on getting your first letter! I got my first phone call last night - it was so exciting! Dale went in 09/23; he is DIV 005 USS Marvin G Shields.
The past few weeks have been tough - I really miss the big guy and even though I still have 3 boys at home Dale is my first-born. The boys all wrote letters and drew pictures for him today; he said it takes 7-10 days for him to receive the letters. He is enjoying boot camp even though the flu shot gave him the flu. Sounded homesick but a little more mature I think.
I have good friends up in the Everett area and relatives on Whidbey. (When I was a kid we lived in Mays Pond which existed before Mill Creek was even a subdivision.)
Hi Lorrie! We're staying at the Navy Lodge. It's close by (but not close enough to walk) and it doesn't have all the fancy amenities some places have. There is no pool, no shuttle to PIR and no continental breakfast. But for $62 bucks a night that's fine with me. Only thing I care about is seeing my Sailor. Too bad your hubby can't get some vacation from striking - I hear PIR is an amazing finale to the lifechanging bootcamp. I have already made all the reservations and plans I'm soo soo soo excited.
YAY!! I'm so glad you got a letter - and a three pager at that. There is nothing, I swear NOTHING, like a letter from your kid telling you that not only are they alive, but that they are thriving too. I'm so happy for you. I got a letter on Friday too and my own sweet daughter said she misses "doing the dishes". LOL. Like your Casey, I believe this is the right fit for Tory too. Doesn't mean I don't miss her like mad though. You'll feel better now and be able to sleep knowing that he is happy. We PIR just before you!! Too bad Casey didn't leave a week earlier or we could be travel buddies. Are you guys going to PIR? I am, I can't wait to see my Sailor.
Hi Lorrie,
Welcome. My son's PIR is 11/21 also. There is so much good information on this site!! What division is Casey in? Have you heard from him yet?
