Hi Gina, its been a long time, how are things going for you and your son? I hear there is a meet and greet tomarrow canyou tell me where and when maybe I can get some time to stop by.
Hey, that's great news. He can work it out to serve later on. Enjoy his homecoming. God works all things for good. It may be a while until you figure it all out, but it will become the right path for you and him both! Beth
If I remember correctly today is your birthday!? If I'm off a day or two, forgive me!!! You're on my mind. This is a day to celebrate you - blow out some candles! Beth
Are they sending him by bus or are they flying him home, either way I am glad that he is ok and I will keep pryaing for you and him. Call Me if you want to talk.

Dear Gina: I read some of the other posts from caring moms who want to support you and Matt! I just want to let you know that I'm still praying for you and Matt for a fair and correct resolution to this issue! Your friend, Beth
Hi Gina, I have been out of town for the last week and was going to write you and see how your son was doing. I see he is coming home. What did you find out??
Cheryl
Hi gina, I was just going to send you a comment from the discussion page asking how your son was doing and staring reading your posts and wow, whats going on? sounds like a huge mess. I am so sorry. I am glad your son is doing better psycially. May daugher left for BC on 12-17. I miss her terribly
Don't worry about fraudulent enlistment Gina.He has no history of this previously, so that is not an issue. He can fight it if he really is committed to staying in. that gets done thru legal. It does take time however, and it is up to your son what he is willing to invest in this.
Be sure to have your son sign the release for you to be able to speak with lega. When they are in legal you usually get about a half hour to speak with them. Write out your questions and leave space for the answers, like a fill in the blanks test. Helps when under pressure. Ask him what he wants. If he gets a fraudulent enlistment , he can not re enlist again in any branch of the service. Check out the links regarding re enlistment codes at the top of ship 17 moms. There is also the threat of fines for fraudulent enlistments.
I have no idea about Ship 17.... Have you searched this site for more information? How do you feel about the recruiter who worked with your son? Maybe he/she can do some investigations for you to see what's up?! Let me khow how it goes. You had big plans... Maybe God has other plans? Beth
Hi Gina, welcome to Ship 17 moms. My son's name is Matthew also. Ship 17 has a medical section as well as a legal section. Sounds like your son should be in the legal section. I read that they are threatening a fraudulant enlistment? Without a previous medical history that cannot happen. He should demand a second opinion, because the VA and docs at boot camp have been known to misdiagnose. You can get headaches with lo blood pressure, and also most of the recruits get at least a sinus infection or bronchitis or pneumonia there, all of which can cause headaches.
He can fight the separation, but he will have to tough out the waiting period.
You can call legal to talk to them about his options. He will have to sign both medical and legal waivers to allow them to talk to you. The number is at the top of Ship 17 moms.
Lastly, conditions in Ship 17 have improved greatly, so don't worry about that in helping your son decide. During the summer a few moms got congressmen involved, and an Inspector General investigation made some changes there.
Im not sure what ship 17 is, but if you can get him out and get him home so he is safe. Then I would start the appeal process while he is home. My heart goes out to you and Matt, It worries me too that my daughter is up there in that bad weather. I found out that her processing days were put on hold for 1 week due they didn't have enough people in her division, but they are pushing her and the rest of them to finish ontime so the have there PIR on the 30th of january. My email is mepeller@bellsouth.net.
Send me an email with your phone number and we will talk.
I got 2 letters from my daughter and she has had a cold for 2 weeks now, but is doing ok. she said its very stressful and people are getting sick all the time.. If there is anything I can do please let me know..
I would have him fight it, he can appeal. If they send him home get him to a doctor asap and find out what is going on. If they find nothing is wrong he may be able to reenlist. I'm very sorry to hear about your son. Please keep me updated. Maybe we can get together again just you and I and talk.
The whole North Island base could either have Christmas or New Years, not both. Only one friend of his asked for permission to have both holidays about 3 months ago. THis way some training and duty stations can occur because everyone's not off base at the same time. We will leave for St. A. in about 3 hours.... It is extremely foggy. I'm sure it will clear up. Yesterday it was in the low 80's. How will you spend your weekend? Do you have to work? B
Thanks for asking about Garrett! He's home. I picked him up before the sun was up on Tuesday. He has done some visiting with friends and family. He looks good. He is still himself (crazy) even though he is definitely more mature. His best friend's wife back in SD is going to have their first baby - the mom went into labor on Wednesday! Can't wait to hear the news.... We'll have all four kids, my two, and the two step-siblings all together on Saturday. I will love every minute of it. We will go walking around America's oldest city, St. Augustine. I started taking pictures of Garrett by lighthouses about a month before he enlisted... So far I have pics of him in front of 4 lighthouses. There is a very traditional looking lighthouse at St. Augustine, so I'll add that to my collection of pictures. Beth
