Mike wanted to put in a chit to come home for his birthday and couldn't because they were going out to sea...however, they were going out for four weeks, not just a week. Good news is that he did know in advance what the schedule was. I think if Anthony asks the CO they would be able to tell him. Good luck and have fun!! Mike was at sea for that four week stint and they gave them four days off when they got back into port...so he didn't tell us and he drove up and arrived the evening of July 3rd! He spent two days with us then drove back on Monday! It was the best surprise ever!

Nan, you have some great pictures, too. I see you live in Lowell. I love going up to that area. Maybe we can meet sometime. Now to try to explain a tiger cruise: Sometimes a ship is given permission to include family members other than spouses to join them on the last stretch of their return home after deployment. My husband and I were able to fly to Honolulu to meet our son's ship along with 43 other tigers to accompany them for seven days from Hawaii to SD. I slept on a rack in the women's quarters and my husband in the men's. We were able to spend a lot of time up close observing our son's duties and boy, he did make us proud! The tiger cruise gave us even a deeper appreciation for what our sailors have to endure in such tight living spaces for months at a time. I am so thankful to have been given the opportunity to participate in such a monumental experience.
Yes, I heard about Anthony's new car. Adam was texting me that it was fun to buy a car with Anthony because he's relentless!! LOL He said the car is awesome!!! and fast....yikes!!!!! Adam is talking about a motorcycle.....yikes again!!! Adam loves San Diego. I'm sure they would both be fine if they had been stationed at different bases, but I think it's all the better for both of them that they ended up at the same place. And for some reason it makes me feel better too. I can't wait to see the pictures my cousin took of Adam and Anthony when they met up with her out there. I'll pass them on when ever I get them. She said that they both seemed really happy and that Anthony is so nice!! I got the full report when she got back home. lol
Adam asked if you would please send Anthony's phone number to me as he doesn't remember it. You can PM it to me. Thanks.
BTW Adam was sleeping and the phone was next to his pillow so he could hear the alarm.
If you talk to Anthony...let him know, if he doesn't know already, that he won't be able to call Adam on his cell phone for a while. His phone got stolen from his rack....Already!!! He wasn't even there for 12 hours and a fellow sailor stole it. WOW, I can't believe it!!! This certainly makes me mad!! So now I have to wait for him to call me back with his address to send him another one. UGHHHHHHH!!!
I can't wait to get out there too!! I'm sooo jealous of my cousin...she's going out there today thru Sunday...and she plans on getting together with Adam. I want to be there too!!! LOL
Hi Nan, Just stopping by to give you an update. Adam is flying out to San Diego this evening. He's really excited!! And he's so happy that Anthony will be following him out there later this week. I'm glad for that too. It's another step in their navy adventure. Adam's ship is going into dry dock soon. Did I hear that Anthony's ship is going into dry dock also? Well, if so...that will give them some time to explore the area before they have to take off on a deployment.

His roommate out there is stealing from him. When he first got there, the guy was being kicked out of the Navy, now he's back in? WTF? My son hasn't reported him yet, because he says he can't prove it. Well, there are only TWO PEOPLE IN THAT ROOM! Anyhow, he's getting a fraud alert and trying to prove it was his signature.

Ohhh, guess what? Adam's ship doesn't have that option of interacting with other family members, I only found that they have meetings for spouses. Bummer!!! Well, I'll just have to keep in contact with the moms I've connected with here. What's Anthony been doing now that he's finished with school? Adam said he's working as a yeoman. I asked, what do you do? He said he's a "secretary". LOL He seems to like it though. No word yet as to when he will leave GL.
No, I didn't know that. Thanks for that info!! I will check that out. I have found a couple of moms here from Adam's ship, one that gives me some info about the ship. I have heard that families can contact the ombudsman of a ship to be put on an email list for getting ship info. I didn't know whether to do that now or wait til he's actually on the ship.
I am also starting a travel fund. Adam's ship is supposed to be going on deployment in about a year, so I hear. I'm thinking it would be awesome to be there when the ship comes back into port. It will probably take me that long to save up for the trip...LOL A tiger cruise sounds pretty fun also!!

Well.....once I found out Adam's ship I HAD to do a search for info about it. LOL All the ships have their own website. He doesn't know when he's going yet. He's on hold, waiting for some paperwork to come through. Maybe it will work out that they will go at the same time.
That's awesome!!!!! Adam text me today to let me know about Anthony going to San Diego, he was happy about that too. The USS Halsey is part of the Peleliu Strike Group. Adam is on the Peleliu so they could be going out on deployments together. Does he know when he will be going?
