Hi Marianne, I wanted to welcome you to the AECF group! I've been out of town for a couple of weeks so I'm late in my welcomings. Is your son an Aviation ET? I was just looking at your groups and see that you are part of the California and Aviation groups, if Aaron is with Aviation rate, you probably won't want to hang out in AECF as it does not include Aviation - even if they are ETs. The schooling is totally different and A school is in GL and then C school varies. I just don't want the conversation in AECF to confuse you - it won't apply to Aaron if he is in California. If you have any questions that I can help with - please let me know.
Also, do you know of any sailors who did not have someone come to the graduation? Must be pretty awful, I m assuming... what are these kids doing when others greet their families?
Just saw that you are from Smyrna, I m not sure right now where in TN that is (sorry). My son is from Knoxville, grad jan. 9. Not sure yet at if/how we can make it to the grad. How where the weather/road conditions when you went?
Thank you, Marianne. I hope you and your family have a Happy Holidays too. Make sure you also tell Aaron Thank you. I will be praying for you and your family. Enjoy your time with your sailor. God Bless.
The night it "snowed" in San Antonio my daughter came home and said she had the next morning off, businesses were closing due to freezing. Here we just shut down till it warms up again.
Hey Marianne....We were at the same PIR....my daughter was 010. Where is your son now? My girl is in Pensacola awaiting A-school...guess it's pretty backed up. She gets to come home for Christmas...how bout Aaron? Hey I noticed you live in Smyrna....I have thought about relocating there in the future. If you have time would you mind answering a few questions I have? How long have you lived there? Do you like it? Is it really cold in the winter (I'm a California girl lol). And...anything else you think I might be interested in. Well ... hope to hear from you. Take care and Happy Holidays
That's OK about the pictures. They look great! Forgot to tell u but long story short my husband dropped our camera down from the top of the bleachers and we couldn't retrieve it until the PIR was over! I had my old camera with me but it didn't do very well. Good news is the camera still worked after falling on that concrete floor and one of the recruits was nice enough to crawl down there.
Marianne, It sounds like you and your husband stay pretty busy. Wow it is such a small world. I am so counting down the days for Rusty to come home. Well I hope you have a Happy Holidays, Talk to you soon.

Hello Marianne, I read the information you left about attending PIR. I couldnt have said it better myself. We attended my son's PIR on November 14th. It was horrible having to say Bye. He is coming home for the Holidays. I cant wait, but I's already not wanting to say Bye again, but I will just enjoy the time I have with him. Well I thought I would say Hi. It is nice talking with other Navy Moms, especially the ones that live so close. We live in Gallatin. My husband actually works in Smyrna. We are there all the time. I have lots of friends and family in Smyrna. I look forward to talking with you. Congratualtions and tell your Thank you for serving. God Bless.
We left our good camera at the hotel that day and only had Paul's little cheap camera and the flash wouldn't reach the floor from where we were sitting, so my husband changed some setting to let in more light, but then the pics were all fuzzy because I wasn't still enough. We had charged the battery on the video camera all night the night before and it died about 20 minutes into PIR. So, our pics are all terrible. Yours are fabulous compared to ours. Thanks soooo much!
Marianne, Thank you so much for posting these pictures. Ours from PIR were terrible. My son, Paul was in 006 too and is now awaiting the start of A school at GL. He is going to be AECF/FC, which means he will be working on weapons systems, hopefully on a ship. Where is your son headed to now?
Thank you so much for posting the pics. Mine didn't turn out that I took indoors so now I have some of my son't division and I can pick him out in a lot of them!
I am so excited.
