Good Morning Judy, I haven't heard from Hans but I know his ship is in the Philippines. The website navy.mil has an article about the ship and the joint activity the marines are doing with their counterparts in the Philippines. The sailors will do some community relations activities and they can go on some tours too. Hans will probably do some tours and hopefully take some photos. We keep hoping he'll email and maybe call us while he is in port. I haven't heard anything from Hans since the 7th. I know he has been busy. They work 12 hours when they are out to sea. When they are in port they work 8 hours.
Hi Judy, I hope your are feeling better. I know that a problem with your rotator cuff is serious. We have a friend who had some sort of problen with his and he was in severe pain. I hope everything is working with your therapy. You've been in my prayers
I bet its great to have Chris home. How is he doing?
Devin is doing ok. He said that things are moving slowly. He started some sort of basic class he said, but he's not sure when he will start schooling for GSE. I hope soon because he said the waiting stinks. He's met some guys there and he said when they are all from duty together they go to the mall and some of the stores there. 2 weeks ago they went to Chicago, so I guess they are having a good time. He's just happy that he can wear his own cloths now. Me and my parents will probably go see him over the summer because we have no idea when he can come home. He's figuring sometime in October.
Well again I hope you are feeling better and I wish you and our family a Happy Holiday. Maybe we can get together in a few weeks.
Oh I forgot about the meet and greet I won't be able to come because we have no one for Stephanie as usual
Hi Judy, My son is still in GL boot camp (navy reserves), God willing -PIR 5/1/09..My son sent me a letter and asked me to ask his NY navy recruiter how long is A training in California after boot camp. He was not sure if it was 12 weeks or 15 weeks for construction mechanic (seebee)..Do you know the answer to this question? I really don't want to call his navy recruiter unless an emergency...God's blessing to you and your son Chris, Ellen
We had some bad weather here in Tennessee yesterday. We had a storm system past over us in the afternoon. It was the same system that spun tornadoes that touched down in Murfreeboro Tn about 60 miles from us. The sky was green, we had hail, and lots of rain. We were ready to run to our root cellar. It overcast and drizzy today. Hopefully it will be nicer tomorrow. We also received another email from Hans so they must be in port somewhere. I know where they are heading but I am not posting it. Though one can see where the ship is headed in navy.mil as it has news about the different ships. There is even a short video about the ship that a mother posted on the Essex site. It is so cool. How is Chris doing? I know you are enjoying having him at home. Have a great Saturday!
Good morning, It is a beautiful Spring day here in Tennessee. The sun is shining, the sky is blue and it will be warmer today. I saw Hans' ship the USS Essex on the navy.mil website. They were in Okinwa on the 7th picking up some Marines. You can see the side of the ship plus the pier and Marines boarding the ship. We put the picture on our computer as a screen saver. We have had another photo of the ship as a screen saver but we know this photo we just added has Hans aboard, so I keep this one for now. Heidi and I have our co-op classes on Thursday so this is our busy day outside the house. I hope you have a great day and wishing your family a Happy Easter!
Hi Judy, a few days ago Hans sent an email. He said he was doing well. Everybody is top notch in the office he works in and they want the same for him. Also they want Hans to achieve his goals, personal and work related. He also asked about his cell phone for international calls. Unfortunately our phone plan won't work in Japan. He will have to get a Japanese cell phone or buy a lap top so we can use Skpe. I think being cut off and not being able to talk like we use to is the hardest part of his being so far away. It is still cold here but will warm up into the 60's. We had snow yesterday but nothing stuck. Hope you have a nice Wednesday. Kim
Judy, this evening I found out that Hans' ship left port. It may be related to this N. Korea thing. We are praying for the safety of Hans and his fellow sailors.
Good morning Judy, We heard from Hans. He made it safely to Japan and was met by his sponsor. He called about 7:40 am our time. It was 9:40 pm in Japan. He said his ship will be going out soon probably only for 5 weeks. He was told by his sponsor this is a good experience for him and looks good on his record. It does a parent's heart good hearing from their sailor. Heidi and I have Co-op classes with our homeschool group today so we will be busy. We need to get back to our regular schedule. We were on Spring break when Hans was home. Have a great day!
Judy thanks for the welcome. We ARE enjoying having him at home (when he IS home - lol - lotta friends male and female to catch up with......) We are so proud of him, and he is very proud of being a sailor. Thanks again.
Thank you so much Judy for the kind words and advice. I knew Warren was close. And thanks for the info about the April 26 Meet. I will check that out and hopefully, I can attend. That would be great.
I know AJ is doing what he wants. He really loves being an MAA! He will be close to home. He leaves tomorrow and I have been crying on and off all day! But I know this is what he wants and so for that, I am excited. He is not bored yet but said he wished he was, it makes it easier to say 'see ya soon' if he is bored. But this is a whole new challenge for him.
Anyway, again thanks for the encouragement. We Moms need to stick together and help one another out. I am so very close to my kids that anytime they leave it is hard for me. I want them home always. Even though I complain about the messes and dishes left all over. Empty cans, full cans, water bottles, plates slid under the sofa, laundry here and there in the laundry room. But...I love it all cause I adore them. My greatest gift...My 3 kids!!! Hope to see you soon :)
Thanks Judy for your kind words. We are so proud of Hans and know this is a great opportunity for him. He is a great young man and will do fine. I am so thankful we have computers these days so Hans and I can communicate. He got me set up last night on facebook and of course accepted me as one of his friends LOL. He took many pictures during his leave time and developed them. The funniest one was of me holding two large plates of homemade spaghetti with meat sauce. We used our home cannned tomatoes plus some spices we grow at home in it,. He said he thinks he'll miss my spaghetti the most. We eat it alot because I usually have the ingredients on hand.
Hi Judy, We just got home from the airport after seeing Hans off . By now he probably has flown out of Chicago on his way to Japan. Before Hans left our family huddled together to pray for Hans. After Hans walked through the tunnel to the plane an attendant who observed us said that we got to her also. It was emotional saying goodbye. I am getting teary eyed writing this and I am not usually a crier. Hans will call us when he gets a chance to let us know he arrived. I know he will send photos home too. He loves taking photos. Have a good day.
Judy...It is all coming close to the time when AJ must leave for Maryland. Sad...but he is prepared. I am pretty sure Chris was in BC in Chicago the same time as AJ. Gonna be hard to say see ya again. But I know he is close and he has that cell phone. Still gonna be hard. You are in Warren NJ? Now how close is that to Phillipsburg?? When does Chris go to base and where is he off to? I will keep him in my prayers!
Well Judy, Our time with Hans is almost over. He leaves early Wednesday morning for Japan and the USS Essex. We have enjoyed our time with him. He has visited with extended family, his good friends, plus folks at church. Is your son Chris still home? I know you enjoyed having him home as much as we enjoyed having Hans.
What's with the ringtone gal here? I guess administration hasn't picked up on that yet! Anyhow.....I am so disappointed as you can tell. I keep missing all these get togethers! This will be the last visit with this son before they deploy again so I am going to try to get in all the time that I can. You know the deal....between fathers, friends etc.etc.
Is Chris still home? It is great seeing them especially that time after A school. He does really feel like a long time from PIR to that point! Talk to you soon and I will keep you posted about the 26th!
Thanks Judy!
Hi Judy, I'm so sorry that I haven't gotten back to you sooner but I had a real bad flare up with my Arthritis. Tony has been my fingers for a while checking my emails.
That is so great that Chris is home. You must have been going crazy when he was getting off the plane. Will he be stationed in New York or will he be able to stay home?
Yes Devin was moved over to A School but he has no idea when it will start. He said he started a basic class today but it wasn't for GSE. So he just has to wait. I mailed him some of the things he wanted ,of course his phone so he has been calling. Defitinly good to hear his voice.
I"ll talk you soon
Hi Judy, Is Chris home? Jeremy said he might be coming home on April 3rd same day as A school grad? I hope so. He found out that "c" school will be delayed(that doesn't surprise me) so he will be in Virginia longer before he has to catch up to his ship. if that happens, you know how that goes. Where is Chris stationed NY or NJ?
