Julie,
Thank you for kind words. We lost my father on the 13th. It was peaceful and at home. That's what he wanted. I hate the word cancer. What a bad disease. But we had a celebration of life instead of a funeral. It was so him. All he ever wanted everyday was to make someone smile or laugh. He is deeply missed.
Hi Julie,
Yes it has been awhile. My dad has turned acute so I don't really touch the computer much. Trying to keep him home. Had Marke come home because I believe the end is very close. What a roller coaster it has been the last two months. Last tuesday was when they told us and ever since my father has started down hill really fast. Hope your family is doing well and will check out the site probably after things calm down.
Hi Julie, I added you as a friend but it says you will need to confirm. I'm very excited we are only a short distance from each other and look forward to meeting you!! Thank you for all the encouraging words......they really helped!! Talk to You Soon, Michelle
Hi Julie, I just looked at your pictures and they are wonderful! especially with Amazing Grace playing in the background. We received 2 calls the night he left. One from Chicago airport and then the one from arriving at BC. Other than that just keeping busy. Take care, Lisa
Hi Julie, Yes I've sent 2 letters so far but nothing sad or anything..Just positve stuff and the things that have been going on around here...When we got his form letter he said it was crazy there and he had wished he had had told fold his clothes before he left...I went months without coming to this site and now I'm hear everyday...thanks for the note and hope everyone doing well. Lisa
Hi Julie ~ Thanks for your offer to help me. Well, right now the dates to be in Syracuse are June 30 - July 5/6th. Yes, one of our church members was just there last weekend and loved it! I'm looking forward to visiting Syracuse my first time. Yes, he is looking at Syracuse for the fall. Thanks again ~ Sherry
Julie,
yes we are just an hour east of syracuse. My husband was raised in Syracuse so we are there often, as his parents are still living there. Our sailor has been in contact with his sponsor on the Port Royal. He is really looking forward to getting out there. (So am I!!!) It will certainly be a nice place to visit!!
Thanks for the welcome but I have been a member for several months now. LOL Still learning new things all the time though. Yes, N4M is a good site to come to learn and meet nice moms like yourself. My daughter has been in the Navy for about a year now and is currently on deployment. Her ship is also in Norfolk, VA. I also have a son who just graduated high school this year.
We are planning to visit the Syracuse area at the end of this month. And I'd noticed that you were from Syracuse yourself. If it isn't too much to ask I was wondering if you might have any suggestion on things to do while there for 3 - 5 days? We're considering visiting the zoo and a local museum but have no idea of good & cheap diners (my personal fav) or local restaurant with character. Maybe you could recommend one or two. I'm also wondering if the public transit is fairly reliable for getting around to downtown and to Syracuse University. Thanks for any suggestions you may offer. blessings, Sherry
Hi Julie,
It's been awhile. How is your family? We are surviving here. Rick's plant offered a transfer and he accepted. The first year, Rick will be in Ohio and making decisions out there while I will be here with the kids trying to sell the house and making sure that the Ohio plant is sound. Never imagined that I would be in this boat again. Dealing with seperations from Marke and now add Rick to the mix. I know its only a seven hour drive and this will be hard but do able. My father started chemo again so that's been hard trying to think how can I move and still take care of him, when he doesn't want to leave his doctor up here. It's been hard. Hope Matt is doing well.
Thanx, Julie. Mike was only home for the weekend. He has second leave. He'll be back on Good Friday. It was great having a full house again. Mike's 3 best friends were here all weekend. Well, they've been here during his deployment, too, so that was nothing new, but it was great seeing Mike along with them!
Julie, are you a Vella Gulf Mom? I am! I am relatively new to this site, and I just got back from Norfolk last night with my sailor after welcoming him home from his first deployment! I knew nothing! I wasn't at the night before festivities because I didn't know about them. But I was on the pier when the ship pulled in! I was screaming at loud as those air horns!
Good morning Julie! I just noticed that you have a pic of my son on your profile! LOL In the pic of the VBSS team, he's on the front row, third from right! I have that pic also! Hope to meet you at homecoming!
Julie, I'll be glad to pass it along. I agree that we haven't been as informed as before but thankfully, there has been a lot more media attention this cruise. Hope to see you at the "night before" festivities!
Hi Julie,
It's been awhile. Pretty busy at home right now. Leaving for Vegas for 5 days at the end of the month with the husband. Can you believe we are actually running away without the kids. hahaha Then in May I will be flying down to p'cola to see Marke graduate from AWR school. Can't wait.
How's Matt doing? Is he coming home soon? How's Mo doing in her nursing program?
Drew is still in high school until the end of June..so will not be leaving for BC until August. Thanks for the note, it was nice to hear from you. Take Care and bring on SPRING!
Hey, I got an email form Kendall; he said Matt was doing well. There's another pic on navy.mil of Kendall trng. I showed it to someone at work and asked "Do you think he looks like me?" :)
He's looking forward to coming home. Take care Julie.
Hi Julie,
Sorry its been a while, but holy cow has the family put me threw my paces. Two weeks ago the tag team caught that lovely virus, in the middle of that my husband was rushed to the hospital with symptoms of heart attack. Add to the other day my father's white cells are down. I've been emotionally drained. Havent touched the computer much.
How's your son doing? Did Mo get accepted into the nursing program? Inquiring minds like mine would like to know. hahaha How are you doing?
I took a moment while its quiet so that I can have some me time and get to make contact with the outside world again. I keep saying when things calm down I'm going to turning stone to pamper myself at the spa and eat at one of their resturants. Weather hopefully will start mellowing out and who knows, just go for a Saturday spend the night and come home Sunday.
