Hi Mary! Keep Josh in your prayers! He called Friday. He broke his foot Thursday. He went through inspections, etc passed then during PT his foot broke. Stress Fracture. This will put him back 4-5 weeks. Just pray for a healing!!! Thanks!! Dawn
Josh was doing quite well yesterday, when I spoke to him. He said he got a 100 on his Tag 2 test, whatever that is....he said it was important...He's ready to beat feet out of the Enterprise tomorrow, still doesn't know what ship he's goin to though. How's Mike?
Well, I just couldn't let her demean our young Sailors, who ARE doing their best, any longer! I just hope I don't get banned for speaking out! He-he...

Hi Mary,
I think that is well said what you wrote and thanks for doing that!
Good morning Mary! Soke with Josh this morning. He grads SCC on Monday, and will get transferred off the Enterprison....I wonder if he'll go back to the Franklin? He said something about ET's & FC's going to another set of buildings to wait for ATT and A school....I guess we'll have to wait and see next week. His average test score right now is a 94! Even with all that is going on over there, he says, "Mom, I just gotta stay focused and do what I have to do. Its not hard, if everybody did it, they'd be fine, but so many have no self control....I try to surround myself with successful, smart sailors, there are a lot of those you know. I don't want you to think their all bums, Mom..." He even said the theft has been a learning experience for him, even though he is still disgusted and mad about it. I so wish I was there to hug my boy, and tell him to his face how proud I am of his decisions and how I see maturity and growth in him...sniff...sniff...damn...tears...again..and your music only helps to make me wanna cry!
As soon as I see Ryan in uniform the tears will flow. It doesn't matter how many homecomings or graduations you see. You are always proud and sooo happy to hold them again. Thank you Mary You have been great.
Thank you sooo much Mary. You are a bright star in a pitch black night sky....sighhhh....yeh, I think someone needs to take a chill pill, big time. That was really not what I needed at the time. And how true, they are supposed to trust each other with their lives....how can they do that when they cannot even trust them with their belongings?? He certainly didn't have this problem when he was on his former ship. His roommate finally came back today....and denied it of course....And they won't search his locker! Well, it's a good thing Josh filled out a police report...We'll see what happens.. Yeh, I believe we have a lot in common and hopefully our son's will cross paths! Josh is staying positive, what else can he do? Thanks again Mary.

Mary, thank you for your kind words. You're son has that same sweet look about him as Josh....Its nice to know there are Sailors out there who are vehement in their defense of the Sailor's Creed and that precious uniform! Ya know, sometimes I get really frustrated trying to formulate my feelings into words and if they are not the proper words, I have Hoppi breathing down my neck! Last thing I needed was for her to pick apart my inadvertent use of the wrong Officer and to browbeat my son for thinking that stashing a key, hidden, was going to be ok. Thinking that roommates might have some moral code of conduct! Uugghh, sorry...another venting....Thanks again

Yes, you do tend to adjust in stages. BC was really tough...but A and C school are much easier. Geoff didn't think he had a prayer to get C school in San Diego...and then he did. It is within driving distance for us, so that was a blessing. When he got it and called all excited, I told him to never discount a mother's prayers...he wanted it, I prayed, and God saw fit to grant that prayer. The same thing happened when it was time for him to get his ship assignment. It seemed like there would be no chance for him to be attached to a ship with home port San Diego, but, again, God blessed us. So, when he is not deployed, he is 6 hours from us. Each stage of this life is different. Some easier than others. This website has truly been a God send for me. I have made some dear, close, Christian friends here...we pray and support and cry with each other. It is good. I did not have this when I was at the stage you are. Did not find this until one week after my boy left for Iraq. I was kind of rudderless. My friends were very good at saying "I have no idea what you are going through" and they were right. Then, three different ways within a 24 hour period this site was shown to me. Now, if that is not God, I don't know what is...and I have been given the human support from other moms that I so desperately needed. I am glad you have us. That is what we are here for. Since your son is following the path my son has walked, let me know if you ever have any questions.
Thanks for letting me know about this web site. Josh had mentioned it but until you said something to me in church it didn't resignate. I did get a letter from him yesterday. It was sweet. You can tell it is not what he thought but he has a good attitude about it. See you soon! Dawn
"I'll Watch the Moon" is the Tatlock I have read. Fabulous book. I really love "Redeeming Love". That is Rivers' first novel as a Christian, but you probably knew that!
I just went to your website...an author and avid reader! I am impressed and excited. I am an avid reader and adore good Christian fiction. Love Tatlock. I see she has a new book coming out next month. What did you think of The Shack? Yep, I am peppering you with questions. Smiling now. Have a fabulous day!
FC, eh! That is what my son is also! You probably figured that out after looking at my page. There is a group for FC/ET if you want to join. How do I handle deployment? Pray. Pray. That is the way. His first deployment was tough enough, when he was on a ship in the Persian gulf for 7 months. This one is so much tougher as he volunteered to do ground duty/base defense in Iraq. His tour there is now a little more than half over and I am counting down the days until his return. I miss him. My Navy mom friends call me "strong", ask me how I handle the fact that he is in harms way. I do not consider myself strong. I just take life one day at a time. Geoff is on a lot of prayer lists. It is his life, his choice, and I just have to honor it. In fact, he is reenlisting while he is in Iraq. Another 4 years. He is doing well in the Navy. He has been in 3.5 years at this point. Joined as a high school senior and turned down college scholarships to go in. I am proud of him. Tell me more about your son? By the way, you have a beautiful family!
Hi, Mary! Just saw your post on Conservative Voices, so thought I'd come over to say hello. So, your son is in A school...what is his specialty? My son did A school in GL and C school in San Diego and is currently serving in the sand in Iraq on his second deployment. Love the psalm you posted. It is one of my favorites. God bless you and your family!
Hello Mary! Saw your post in the Conservative Voices group and thought I would stop by. You have a beautiful family. Love the pic of the boy saluting. Chime in with your thoughts whenever you feel. We're a welcoming group who just want to share information. :-)
