Hey Paige: It's been a while. How are you? Work is keeping me pretty busy these past couple of months. Wanted to let you know that "doobie" has posted a get together for Jan. 9th. It's in Tempe, but if you want to drive in and spend a night or two I have an extra bedroom. Just let me know.
Cory is off again on another Navy adventure. He turned 21 on Dec. 7th. On Dec. 8th got orders to ship out within 24 hours and was gone on the 9th! I had mailed his Christmas package on my way to work on the 8th.....the day he got orders! Guess it will still be in Virginia when he returns. He said he expects to be back the end of January. I'm saving a few vacation days and hope to fly in to see him in Feb.!
hi Paige. I think Navy Dads history group has a lot of really great information. Do you think we could put some of their "finds" on our page? PS, your picture #16 looks like the other lady has been to some of our Dallas/Ft. Worth Navy get togethers. Do you know her well?
So good to hear from you, girlfriend! I knew you would do well at your new job....it was just a matter of you getting in the door for them to see what potenital you had to be a great asset to the company!
Got a call from Cory last night. He will not be able to get home for Christmas so he's coming in next Friday. I'm excited to see him, of course, but with only a weeks notice I have to rearrange some plans. I'll probably still make the DEP picnic in Tucson next Saturday, but I had also scheduled my self to work on the 21st, which is the day he'll be heading back to Virginia. I'll have to check Monday and see I can get someone to cover the morning for me. I really believe Cory thinks I just sit around the house waiting for him to come home!!!
Nothing else new. Have been doing 10 days at work this past week.....so, of course do NOTHING when I get home....so the weekends are house cleaning, grocery shopping, etc. Today I dusting out Cory's room, sweeping, changing sheets, etc.
Keep in touch. Hope Billy makes it home for a least some of the holidays!
Julie
Paige: How exciting about the job. Calm down, you're going to do just fine! What a blessing to be in the right place at the right time for this to happen......WOW...I can see it all now...the heavens open up, the lights shine on Paige and the blessings pour down!!! I am really amazed at how things work out sometimes!
Got a call from Cory yesterday....his deployment has been cancelled. Since he couldn't tell me where they were going he couldn't tell why they're NOT going! This Navy stuff is just so confusing at times. He said if they "moved out" it would be after the holidays. SOOOO...you know me, I'm hoping he can get home for Christmas. He said he put in for it. Of course, since I didn't know any of this, I scheduled myself to work! It will be fine....I gave a nurse who has pre-teenage kids the day off and I'm working in her place. If it all comes to pass Cory and I can celebrate on Christmas eve...he'll probably sleep until noon anyway!
Glad things are getting underway for Billy. But I know you will certainly miss his trips home. Being a single parent once all the kids are gone can be a little hard to adjust to sometimes. Do you know when he'll be leaving?
Drop a line when you have a chance. How was the wedding last weekend?? Keep me posted on the job....it sounds like a terrific opportunity....one door closes and another one opens!!!!
Paige: Boy....missed you today at MiMi's. How's the new job going? You're gonna do great. You have absolutely one of the best attitudes I have ever come across!!! I called Cory on my way home from this mornings cofee. He said he thinks he'll be leaving around Nov. 4th. The date is never set in stone, just an approximate. I'm having a hard time with this one....don't know if it's because of the holidays or if I'm just overtired. I have the grandkids again this weekend....and they are about to wear me out! Cory sounded good....of course, couldn't tell me where they were headed but he sounds excited about the adventure. Stay in touch!
Sorry you won't be there on Saturday, I was looking forward to meeting you. Maybe we can get together some time on our own. I hope you have a good weekend and let's keep in touch!
Hi Paige,
I havent written for a while. My son passed the physical test for SEALS this week and is now in coronado to begin SEALS. Thats our hometown, San Diego, so we are anxious to visit. Later
Hi Paige! I have been thinking about you and wondering about the job situation... I am so glad that things have worked out the way they have for you!! I WILL be at the Oct. 6 meeting (it's at 5:30 this time) and we are beginning to put together a package of things to send to a group of young men in Iraq for Christmas... (I think there's about 40 boys that we are collecting for; their Lt. Col. let the head of our group know that these do not have family nor do they get mail :( ... so we have "taken them under our wings" so to speak :) I look forward to seeing you there... have a wonderful weekend with Billy!!
Paige: Got in from Branson Monday night....flight was delayed coming out of Dallas so I didn't reach home until after midnight....lhad to work on Tuesday. That was a LONG day! But you are so right...the area is beautiful. The weather was perfect....no rain, temps in the high 70's and low 80's....trees, green grass, I din't want to come home!
Paige, Julie said you would let the Navy Dad's know out the the meeting on Oct 17th @ Mimi's. Could you send me the contact information for the Dad's group. I need to get a head count for Mimi's before the event.
I am a bit out of the loop this week (have a family emergency, our daughter who lives in Nebraska lost her baby at 22 wks and I am out there with her), but will follow up early next week so I can give them the information.
Thank you for all your help. Take care and talk to you soon
Well, good morning to you. Thank you so much for the welcome. Glad to see I have support so close to home. My daughter just graduated from Boot Camp July 24th in Great Lakes and is in A school right know ready to graduate November 13th and off to South Carolina from there to work in their Naval Hospital there. She didn't get a chance for C school due to all seats full at this time for the medical training, but hopefully she will get in soon. We haven't heard yet, but hoping she gets to come home between graduation of A school and shipping out to South Carolina! Thanks again for the hello and hope to talk more in the future! Karrie
Paige: I just checked into the Az page and we have a new member who lives in Prescott......Kaylasmom left a message there today.
Not too much new. Work is finally slowing down a little. I've gotten out pretty close to "on time" most everyday this week. Talked with Cory this afternoon....he's bummed....got in trouble for going into work without shaving one day last week. Had to laugh, told him is that was the worst of his worries right now he was leading a pretty BLESSED life!
I'll be leaving for Branson next Thursday and getting back late on the 28th. I'm looking forward to connecting with old friends and seeing some "Country" shows!
Hi Paige! My husband said he saw a post on Navy Dad's from you. I'm glad you found me on here! Sorry you won't be able to attend next month. Yes, we will definitely meet one day. Your boy is so good looking, I can't wait to get my son's picture!
Paige: If you'll post it in the Arizona room on NavyDads that'll be great. It's on Oct. 17th at MiMi's Cafe, Desert Ridge Mall. 21001 N Tatum Blvd, Phx 85050 (in case anyone needs to mapquest it). The time is 10 AM to Noon. I'm pretty sure Jeanett's husband will be coming....and he'd probably like some male company! Thank you!
Paige: Just got a note from Jeanette r/t the coffee on Oct. 17th. It will be a MiMi's cafe at the Desert Ridge mall (101 and Tatum) and starts at 10:00 AM. Since it's opened to Moms and Dads she wanted it posted on the NavyDads site also, I was wondering if you could get that done. I don't really want to join that site just to post an event....because I'll probably never get back there again....it's all I can do to keep up with N4M's some weeks!
Boy, this has been an awfully busy month....I'm thinking I'll just skip September nest year!!!
Just got home from Tucson last night. My aunt's memorial service was Saturday morning....then together with the family. One of those depressing days, after the service I took mom to my dads and my brothers grave.....you can probably just imagine what a fun day that was!
I leave for Branson the 24th of this month...and then it's October! I really want to come visit for a day......just don't know when my schedule is gonna open up. While visiting mom this weekend it was pretty obvious she needs new carpeting. I told her I'd come in October to measure out the house and take her to a couple of flooring shops.
Are you going to make the "coffee" in Phoenix October 17th? I'll be there providing it's not the weekend I'm back in Tucson. I'll keep you posted.....
How was the weekend with Billy.....it was his birthday, wasn't it?
Hi Paige, Thank you SO MUCH for your encouraging words for me and Jason!! You are a sweetie!! I would LOVE to meet for lunch ... maybe we can setup a time for that when (and if) you are able to make it to the Tuesday night Blue Star Moms mtg. I need to verify the time and location, but I think we meet at 6:30 pm at the title company building on Gurley... I'll verify and let you know the exact time/location. I work at JoAnn Fabrics in Prescott and today, Saturday, I met a mom from this site (Rita - Keith's Mom)! Small world!! She wants to be at the meeting Tuesday too! This will only be my second time attending, so we'll all be "newbies" together :) I'll get back to soon.... hugs :)
Hi Paige... Update on Jason's trip to Phoenix MEPS yesterday... just got home this afternoon. He scored high on his ASVAB, passed the physicals and has Seals training being written in his contract! HE IS WALKING ON AIR... He has to pass the psychological and physical screening test for SEAL applicants with Chief Adams in Mesa next Thursday, sign his contract the following Monday and go into DEP, planning to head to boot camp in February.... whew!! Very emotional time... not quite sure how to feel as a momma... Navy is one thing -- that SEALS training, etc. is quite another :~ I'll sure need some encouragement and "education" through this one!! :) ... Did I mention to you that there is a group of Mom's ("Blue Star Moms") that meets in Prescott (this month it's next Tuesday, Sept. 15) from all branches of the military?
