Grazi,
I am so sorry I haven't replied. This is the first I have been on in months.
My daughter is still in high school and with the end of year activities going on, I was pretty busy. My son also came home for two weeks at the beginning of June and we spent all of our time together, which was wonderful. I hope everything with Jonathan is good and with you and your family. Have a wonderful 4th of July weekend!!

How is it that you manage to still look elegant in a sailor's cap??!!!

I'm sure you've had a fabulous two weeks! You just moved, right? How do you like your new home?

We will get to see Stephen over the 4th; he is too far away to come home, but my younger sister lives in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and we are having a surprise b'day party for my mom there (she is going out with my other sister and her family (with whom she lives here in NYS), for a ballroom dance competition in Fort Wayne that my nephew - my older sister's son here in NY - is in).

We will not know where Stephen goes next until much closer to the end of A school.

CA - wow! That will be neat! How did his training go?

Hi Grazi,
Congratulation's to you and your Son, my Son graduated 3/20/09, then was off to San Antonio, texas for A school. He has since graduated from there and is now in Bangor, Washington in C school. He has 2 more weeks there and then I'm hoping he can come home for a couple weeks. He will be stationed in Washington for 2 yrs.
Forgive me for not being on here in so long, I have been very busy with work. God Bless All of our Sailors, and all of the military who serve our country.

I am sorry I don't know anything about that base in santa monica. I am sure it will be an adventure for Jonathan wherever he goes. I am doing good. My son is still in school near our home so I am getting spoiled being able to see him more than usual. He comes home almost every weekend to visit but has to be back each night by mid night. In July he will go to his first assignment at Bethesda Naval Hospital. Virginia Beach is only about 3 hours from where we live. It is really nice there, you will like it.

Happy Memorial Day, Grazi :-) It's been awhile since PIR & I hope your Jonathan is doing well in his A school. We are getting ready for a party for my other daughter who is turning 17 on 6/4, so I have not been in touch with many at all. Wish we could have hugged at PIR but what a busy, touching, emotional day it was....the whole weekend was blessed. take care for now :-)

Hi Grazi,

So, nice to meet you also. Congrats on your son too, we are some proud mamas!!! :)

I'm sorry we didn't get to chat more also. I knew that it would probably happen this way. We all, were too excited to see our sons and spend time with them. But it was nice to put a face with our chats on these boards.

Scott is staying in Great Lakes right now. They told him he has to split up his schooling there, and then in July he will be going to Pensacola.

Your son is right next door to me... he,he... at least in the next state. :) I hope it's going well for him. I know Scott is excited about being somewhat normal again and having a little freedom.

Take care and hope we chat soon again.

Stephen is a hospital corpsman so since the Navy supplies the Marines with their medical staff, he had to attend some additional training in case he ever is called on to deploy with the marines. He is currently in NC doing that training. It is like boot camp all over except with the marines this time. He has to learn everything the marines do in boot camp plus additional medical things you would use on the battlefield. It is very physical, lots of PT and little free time. He will finish that up in July and then he will be stationed in Maryland at Bethesda Naval Hospital. Good luck to your son while in Mississippi. It is so much better in A school because they can call you and talk everyday if they want and for some reason after BC they sure seem to appreciate Mom more. I guess they might miss us a little and start to realize how much we really did for them. For what ever reason, it is nice to see them start to grow up and mature.

I so wanted to meet your son! It occured to me on Sunday that we could have exchanged cell numbers and met at the NEX before the boys went back. Sigh.

Everything is pretty good, thank you for asking. Is all well with you? I sure hope so. I'm getting a little nervous about this flu situation. Crossing my fingers that our daughters and sons don't get it, and that we don't and go get to graduation with no problems. I'm not sure about the meet and greet? I'm going to try, we're driving in and it's such a long drive... not sure if we'll get there in time. But, we're hoping.. :) Take care... the count down begins... LOL!

Hello Grazi~You must be the sweetest mom on this website. I thank God that Jonathan is doing so well. And look at how you are more upbeat! It's just days away for PIR now. The time went by fast and look.......you are still alive! LOL Love you Mama

Hello, Grazi:-) lol about everyone's spelling! we think tooo quickly for our fingers........for the PIR there's a tradition of the parents' Meet 'n Greet the night before. Check the column on the right of your page or mine, then you will see it (PIR 5/8...there will be other dates as well). We are staying at the Ramada (because it has a hot tub!). The places will give you a special rate if you explain you are there for your son's PIR graduation (very reasonable). I, too, am looking forward to meeting with you! you may have mentioned it already, but where will Jonathan go for A school? My daughter stays there in GL for Machinist' Mate for 11 weeks. She told me to be under the California flag for PIR to be able to find me......we are flying in on Thurs. & will get there before the Flannigan's deal. You'll make it :-) Bless you today :-)

I hope we hear from them soon to tell us they are new Sailors....I thought I'd read somewhere that battlestations were a week or two before graduation? Bless you as you travel to GL & we can meet up at Flannigan's the evening before......how long is the drive? All the 5/8 PIR's are in my prayers :-)

The divisions do BS two div at a time. They are allowed to talk to each other. It always ends in the morning but if you are not sure which day he does it then it is hard to guess which day he will call. My son called me about 3pm the day after he finished. I will never forget that call, so exciting! It is likely your son will do BS on the 5th, 6th or 7th if he graduates on the 8th. Good luck to you and your son. It will all be over soon and things will get better. After bootcamp they can call all the time.
