Wanted to thank you for your kind words. Christa is doing well considering all she has been thru. She is sitting beside me as we speak. Cuddled. She has a headach and it seems the blow to her head has made headache happen a lot now. Some hearing loss because of the cuncution. They are hoping she will regain it. I'm just so glad to have her home with us, safe.
Hey!!
great to hear from you! I haven't been on much lately either.
I am glad you get to see your son! That will be a great reunion! Wow! I can't imagine not seing him for a year! I hope that you enjoy your visit! Where does he go from here?
My son is getting ready to head out and is very excited about it! Excited to get out of the heat too! He is such a Caliboy!!!
Take care! I miss you!! I would love to get down to see you guys!!! Hopefully someday soon!!
I just wanted to tell you that I so enjoyed watching you slideshow. You have had an adventure with your son much like we have had with our daughter. They seem to take us on the experience with them don't they? I swear that when she got home from Iraq I felt like I had been at war. It's so bad when they are hurt and we can't be there with them. She is injured on base right now also with her leg and I can't do anything. She is 33 years old and has three sons yet she is still my baby.
Hi Coyote,
I was cadre at west Point - sort of - so I didn't go overseas or see a lot. The Navy is very different. I thank you for your note of encouragement! Thanks new friend! Jill
Wow - I would like to print out your whole page and send it to my son in BC! He is going on to P-Cola for IT and you and I sound very much alike in many many ways. I wonder if Jesse will go to Japan. Was it your son's first choice?
Thanks for the info. I do know about skype and my daughter and I are both hooked up to use yahoo video conference. The problem is more that my daughter is living a busy life and doesn't have the time......to go to some place like the bowling alley for free wifi. She is in one of the few barracks that doesn't have working wifi at the moment. she is really enjoying Japan and theya re scheduled to deploy again in early May so it will be a mute point again soon for a very long time. I do appreciate your taking the time to tell me about it though. I'm just still going thru withdrawals of losing my daughter and my best friend to an overseas base.
Thanks,
Charley
have talked my mom and dad into going. Don't know how much time I'll get to visit with ya'll but I couldn't be in Conroe and not hook up with ya'll - I can't shop $$ but I just want to see everyone again. Plus my folks need to see some different scenery other than their 4 walls. See my dads painting on the Navy history group page.
Hi Coyote (love the name), my son, Jonathan, just returned after 2 years in Japan, he loved it too. The time difference was a problem at first, but I learned when he was first stationed overseas (Iceland) to put a clock with "his" time next to my computer. Now that I have a new computer, I can put his time zone right on my sidebar....got to love technology! My son is also an IT and is currently stationed in Virginia for the next 3 years. I never thought the time would ever pass, but it does, and between phone calls and emails and the few visits home, we've always been able to remain close. I hope Trevor is recovering well from his broken bone! Jonathan had to have an emergency appendectomy while stationed in Iceland. It was the hardest thing to do....be a mom here in the states and have a child in the hospital thousands of miles away and no way to get to him. I was able to find a telephone number to the hospital and after several transfers got to talk to my son in recovery, but it was sure a tense hour or so until I could make sure he was okay. Please keep the group updated on Trevor's recovery!
Gosh, I'm sorry to hear that . . . I hope everything goes well, and recovery is quick and complete! Let me know when you find out more . . .

I'm traveling up to Phoenix on Sat, some of our AZ moms have planned a potluck and so I'll get to meet more NFM's and spend time with some I met last June . . . When will I finally get to meet you? I know, as soon as we have unlimited time and money - LOL:)!
GIANT HUGS:)!
Hello,
My son Derek is a Seabee stationed in Gulfport, Mississippi. He has been in Gulfport since his PIR in January. He is doing well. I think the hardest thing for my Modesto boy was getting used to the humidity and weather of Mississippi.
Derek starts field exercises (FEX) next weekend. From what I understand FEX is 21 days of war games. He is excited. Mom is bummed - 21 days of no phone contact or texting .
Derek would so love to be with Trevor in Japan. He used to joke that he was Japanese in another life. His unit is scheduled to deploy in September. He said he will be going to Guam or Japan. We are keeping our fingers crossed for Japan.
I can't find my list, but here are some that I have collected :P
1)Write a letter on toilet paper - tell him that you want to "crack" him up- this is boy humor (use a good pen - it rips easily)
2)Print out family pictures on regular paper, and write a story to match the pictures. My story was about Captain Stinkfinger.
3)Go online and print out jokes - especially ones about the Navy or military.
4) Clip articles from the local paper, or comic strips
5) All those e-mail jokes you get a work - send them
6) Send him a "Congratulations on your new home" card.
7) Humorous cards. This can be $$$$ but I have found some funny cards
8) Origami if you know how to do it. I can make paper airplanes.
9) Little books - I found a book about 2inches X 2 inches. Cody had to open it in front of his DIV and read two pages. The title of the book was The History of Farts. It was a gas LOL.
10) off season cards..ie Easter in December
11) letter from the pets perspective
So, do ya'll have any suggestions on the best one to buy? We have 3 15 - 20 years old TV's. Obviously we don't have digital. Yes, One still has rabbit ears in my room, but I only use it for morning news when I wake up. PS, my hubby got a job in Beaumont, so we're looking for him a place to stay. Also, mom/dad and brother/wife's electricity in Conroe didn't get turned on till way after mine. How long was yours out? We lost so much, but hey, we're fine.
