Hi Debbie! Where is Shane now and how is he doing? Chris called yesterday to tell me that he phased up and I can bring his car to VA and to send polo shirts and jeans. He is going to get to start classes on Monday so I only have to worry for 13 weeks and then I can wait until after leave to worry about 13 weeks of "C" school. I've heard that folks who scored in the mid 90's on their ASVAB have a dard time with Intelligence but I feel that if this is what he wants badly enough he will be in that 1/4 or so who make it through. I'm sure Shane will do well also. 'Look forward to an update on Shane.
Just talked to Cody again and he did work on the flag with "Buckie" Popeye on one side and Terrorist disguised as a pirate on the other. Cody will be holding the Star flag (competence) in the front.
Can you belive it - 2 more days and we are on our way!! I just cannot wait! The weather looks like it is going to hold out for everyone to get there safely. I have spent a lot of time praying for good weather. God is probably wondering what is up with me and all my prayers for good weather! Drive safely and we will look for you in Chicago. What hotel are you guys staying at?
They must be hangin' out there together then. Where are you going to stay? Has Shane ( Buck) said anything about being able to keep a cell phone or computer there after PIR?
ru packing yet? I was a Marine Corp brat, so I know the love-em and leave-um game all too well. I am busy today looking for warm clothes to pack, it was 85 here yesterday and 46 today. Gotta love Texas!! One mink coat and hat can be worn by 50 women here, we just keep passing it around on an "as needed bases"! Can't find my mug lugs, hmm, maybe in the attic under camping gear we haven't used in 5 years. ;-)
Hi Debbie, Our son Cody said he too is working on the Division flag, must be a team effort. Cody says it is looking great!!!. Perhaps they are working on it together.
Good afternoon Debbie, yep, I'm getting excited as well. I had heard that our men might be doing battle stations last night so Robin and I stayed up with them as long as we could. We are a bit too old for the all nighters appearently, as neither of us made it all night. I did make it until 4:15 our time so maybe the thoughts and prayers helped. If they did not have battle stations last night then they may have to do them without me, I can't handle two nights in a row. LOL Good luck and we will see you in a few days! Mary
Wow! Debbie, what an honor! I can't wait to see them entering the PIR behind your son's banner. Will you be able to make it to the Meet and greet at Flanigan's on the 8th? I hope to meet you there! Only 11 more days! Robin
Oh my gosh Debbie! I just replyed to your post at the DIV 059 page and came over here to ask you to join us at out meet and greet at Flanagan's on Thursday evening, guess what? I can about stand out on my deck and yell at you! I'm in Hickory! Shane and Chris must not have met yet or neither of them have talked about where they are from! I'm going to add you to my friends list if that's ok. I'll give my phone number and we can compare flights etc. Now I'm really excited!!
Be safe on your trip! I can't wait to see Seth! Are you going to be able to make the meet n greet at Flanagan's?? It is going to be so neat to be able to meet everyone from this website.
Hey Debbie. I'm sure you have gotten your information on graduation by now. We have made our flight, hotel, and rent-a-car reservations already. There are 6 of us going. My sister and her husband are going to be on the "first come - first serve basis" to get in but they are early riser's so they will probably be first in line! We are flying into Milwaukee. It is only 55 miles from the Training Center and it was 50% of the cost of flying. We are staying at the Courtyard Marriott that is about 5 miles from the base and they provide a shuttle to the base for graduation. Have you guys made any plans yet? How is Shane doing? Alex was able to call and talk for 1/2 hour about a week ago. He sounded so good! I cannot get over how much he likes it. I guess it is what they say - you either love it or you hate it. I hope you and your family are doing well and have a Merry Christmas. I wish the guys could come home for Christmas but it wont be long and we will all in in IL. Talk to you soon!
Hey! I've been thinking about you too. I've been busy and have not had a chance to get online. Yea, I've gotten three letters so far and Alex sounds great! He says it is not as hard as he thought it would be and says he is having fun! I have to say, it sure is a relief to get positive feedback from them. I dont know what I would do if he were upset and miserable. I have not heard anything regarding the graduation date but I am hoping it is the 9th. It is hard to believe they have been gone nearly a month already. Let's hope the weather doesn't hinder any of us making it to GL. I'm going up there even if I have to walk! Hope you and your family are doing well!
i got a call from alex's dad last night. alex had called him because he had some questions about the GI Bill and some other kind of insurance so i did not get a call yet. i guess i understand but have been a little in dumps this morning over it. his dad said alex sounded really good though so that is good to hear. so 1-9 is their graduation date? i am going to e-mail alex's dad today. i was half asleep when he called last night - i kept dreaming that he had called and then waking up realizing that he had! good news from both of them. that is great!
me again. i do not see a ship number. where do you find that and do you know what it means? so shane is in div 059, building 7114? i'm getting ready to write another letter and i have a stack of them to send out tomorrow. yea, it sure is a relief having received the address. have a good night.
yipee! i got my form letter with a little note at the end written by alex. he must be doing well because all he asked about was our cat, jack! kids! he is in division 059, uss kearsarge. i hope you get your letter today too. i'm on my way out the door to a pampered chef party. i will check in later.
Hi Debbie-
My son made the initial "I got here call" from his cell, it was so quick I cried when we hung up. I got his address by calling his recruiter, they initially said they wouldn't have it for 10 days and I told them I knew of others who had gotten their sons,, they did some checking and got it for me. My son is in div. 808 on ship 11, let me know what div. your son is in when you find out.
Thats exactly what they need!!!! Keep them staying positive and encouraging them is all we can do in letters. I know i would do anything to know that he knows im thinking about him all the time. I hope you get his address soon I know it made me feel a little more relaxed to know that he actually has an address and hes not just out there somewhere. I know it sounds silly but it actually gave me peace.
I just got off the phone with his recruiter and finally got his address!!!! He is in Div: 058. I'm so excited to finally be able to start send him letters. I miss him soo much.
