Are you getting consistent emails from the Gridley? My son, jeff, is studying hard fro a big test, BUT...no email in about a month. His issue or Navy email? Thanks.
Hi Carla. I completely understand! I joined here some time ago but am just starting to try to figure out the site.
It is definitely good to know another Gridley family member! I saw your Tiger Cruise pics from the last homecoming. So cool! I was at the homecoming but we didn't go on the cruise.
Are you already planning a trip to Cali for the homecoming?? I am hoping to make it back!
Hi Carla, thanks for the reply...it is really nice to have a connection with other mom/wives who have sailors on the same ship...It was great for us when Justin was in boot to have the connecitons. This is his first deployment. So far we have been able to get e-mail, that is a lot better than when he was in boot! He and his wife are expecting their first child (my first grandchild) around the time he thinks they may be returning.....hope he makes it back in time, if not I will try to be there. Unfortunately they have not made any aquaintances with other wives from the ship so her group of friends there is very small. I wish she knew more people for support there while he is gone. If she was not working she could come home during this time. I will probably worry more about her than Justin during this time.lol.
Hi Carla, That would be soo good!. How long will he be home? My husband is not home now but hes coming home tom. If he's still around illlet him know. Thanks for keeping us in mind. I think Darius will really appreciate any info.;
Carla i amto go on Tiger Cruise next month but trying to find out info is like pulling teeth!! ARG! My daughter can't really tell me anything specific and unfortunately I need to get time off from work, make travel arrangements, etc. I have emailed the ship trying to get info but nothing there either. How did you know when and where and what? ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
Don't feel bad I am still trying to figure it all out. Fianlly figured out how to add a phot of my son and I. No we didnot have much weather here this weekend. Just a little rain, and a little wind for abut five minutes. It all went south of us. I remember the tornado in 1974, it done alot of damage. I lived in Winchester at the time. Yeah I haven't figured out the chat line yet either, but I will. thanks
Hey Carla good to hear from you. Boy is it a small world or not? Yes I live in the town of little ole sweet Frankfort. My son is 29, been in 11 years. You can contact me at my email address, mrenfro19@yahoo.com if you would like.
Carla,
You must be so proud of your son!! Do you get to see him often? I know how much I miss my girls! How did you end up in New York? That is quite a distance from Paducah!
Carla, I moved to Glenwood Springs in September 2005. When I got divorced in 1990, my kids wanted to stay in Midland (TX) and finish school. I told them that when they all left the nest, I was going to move to the mountains--after 28 years of West Texas dust, I wanted a different view. Actually I tried to make that move after I finished college, but I wouldn't move without a job. Dave (Decatur son) left for GL in September 2004 and I started job hunting. After I moved to GWS, my brother told me that our dad's parents used to take the family vacationing here.
You must be so proud of Colin--SAR is awesome! I saw the N4M ads on TV in November and joined. It has been such a gift. When James (4ID) was deployed to Iraq in April 2004, he was stationed at Fort Hood and there were lots of West Texas Army families with sons/grandsons deployed with James. There was also a retired 4ID soldier who emailed a daily update of the "events" our sons were involved in and I knew more than CNN reported. N4M has given me networking to hear what is going on and friends to share those mom concerns.
Dave says that the ship needs a lot of work before its next deployment and they are behind schedule. I'm glad he was able to get leave at Christmas and visit me. He doesn't tell me anything in advance, but every once in a while he call or email and say "watch the news" and then I know where he is and what they are doing. Karen GWS CO

Carla, it appears that while our sons are not on the same ship, they will be deployed together. Let's keep in touch!!
Know any Swartwouts in Duchess County? My mom's family came to Duchess County in 1640 and her "branch" left around 1900.
Hi Carla,
It is hard to beleive that I have 9 grandchildren. Only 2 of them live close. About 15 mins away. The others, well 4 of them live in Fort Worth and the other 3 are in Corpus Christi. That is my son's new duty station. I live in Houston. My son just finished a tour on the Reagan. Talk about a small world. What type of ship is your sailor on? Have a wonderful day, Debbie
Hi Carla,
What a beautiful grandchild. You are so going to enjoy being a grandma. I have nine grandkids and it is so much fun. I enjoyed the pictures. It looks like you had a great time on your tiger cruise. It gives you a good idea of what your sailor does on a daily bases. And may I say you have a hamsone son. Loved the picture of the planes over the carrier. Do you know which carrier it was? Have a great day. Debbie
Hello Carla,
My son is also going for the QM school. He just did his PIR in 11/21/08.
So now he is in between everything. I (and my son) would appreciate any information regarding what to expect at the school, etc. Any info. would be wonderful to know. (-: I am green on all this. His father was a Marine Sgt. and my brothers, Airforce...anyway...I would love to know what your son went through. Thanks so much.
Linda
