Dori, Wow!!!! You must be completely exhausted with that much stress going on around you. I'm so sorry to hear about your husband. What do the Dr.'s say? Will he be Okay? How did he hurt his back?
Damien getting married just blew me away. When you say "local girl," do you mean local as in where he grew up or a girl that he has met since boot camp? I can't imagine the horror you felt. First your baby in the Navy, then marriage. That's a little too much for anyone to handle. I'm so glad she took herself out of the picture before any real damage was done. Is Damien Okay with the situation? So many times these girls just looking for a husband, hook up with these kids that are lonely and homesick then before you know it, their married with babies, and wondering how it all happened. I'm so glad Damien has such a good head on his shoulders and thought of school first.
I'm so glad he's going to be close to home for a little while. We were actually happy that James was stationed close enough that we can drive but far enough that is would take a serious effort for his "friends" to go see him. He has been home twice since boot camp. Each time as soon as he gets with his friends, Pow!!!! He's back into slacker mode. I just want him to stay away from them long enough for all of them to do a little growing up.
It was reallly good hearing from you. Please write when you can. Big hugs, Kathy
Hey Dori, Just thought I'd stop by and check on you and Damien. How are you? James finished A school in about 3 weeks. He came home for a couple of days then went to his duty station in Norfolk VA. He is currently deployed on the USS T. Roosevelt. It all happened so quickly. It seemed as if one minute he was graduating Boot Camp and the next he was on a plane to be taken to a ship in the middle of who knows where. He's having a little difficulty adjusting but, I think that is because it all happened so quickly.
Please let me know how you and Damien are doing. I miss talking to you. hugs, Kathy
Hi Dori, just read a post from you about getting a guest pass at the Navy Lodge so we could use the Nex gas station. Thanks for the info. We leave Wed. 8th for our son's bc grad. on the 9th. How far is the Navy Lodge from the base and is it better to drive the rental or to go by shuttle? I am so excited about seeing him and just want everything to go smoothly. Appreciate any info. or advice you could give. Thanks again.
Hey Dori,
Sorry to hear that Damien wont be home for Christmas. I hope you're doing well. I want to wish you and all of your family a very Blessed and Merry Christmas. I'll light my blue candle for Damien and say a prayer for all of you tonight. God Bless you. Merry Christmas. Love, Kathy
Hey Dori - Sorry for the delay in my responding. I have been rediculously busy after returning. I'm still not caught up but I had a few minutes to check my page while my family finishes getting ready for church.
James arrived in Mississippi on Wednesday, 12/10 and he loves it!!! I'm so glad. They haven't had much to do so far but he said that the difference between bootcamp and A school is tremendous. No one is mean. There are rules but, he calls them "common sense rules." He says its much easier to deal with. We shipped his cell phone to him. It should arrive tomorrow. So far there is another young fella with him that has allowed him to use his phone to call us. Yes, he has called everyday. It's great!!!!
I'm glad Damien is doing well and calling daily. I'm sure you're thrilled. I'm so proud of both of our boys. Thinking back about all of our fears, and now look at them. They're flying high and doing great!!!! We'll I better check on my youngest. He seems to be dragging this morining. Hugs and Love sent your way. (It's so great now because when I write you I'm able to picture you're face.) This is awesome!!!

THANKS! We had to take him back early as he had guard duty. It was so good to hold him again and he enjoyed the quiet and a hot shower back here at our room before going to do his duty. GOSH! He has grown up SO MUCH! We took him for Sushi and he looked so happy.

Dori - All I can say is YAY!!!!!!! DAMIEN!!!!!!! I'm so excited and happy for Damien, You and You're Entire Family. My heart is just racing. I know he wanted this so much. This is such a great feeling. Are you in tears? I bet you are!!!!!
Dori. Congrats to you and your new sailor. How wonderful you must be feeling. I still have two days to wait. Michael doesn't go through BS until Wednesday night so it will be sometime Thursday afternoon before I get the call. We will already be in GL for that. I'm so excited for you.
Hi Dori,
I heard from Dara. He sounds so grown up. Hope Damien is doing well. Dara was at the Moose Lodge for Thanksgiving. Pictures were just posted on the web site. All the recruits look so handsome. Just a few more days. Once battlestations are over, we'll be o.k.
Dori - That's wonderful. What a great Thanksgiving it was for both of us. Yes, James did call. He was in GREAT spirits. Sounded happy, (really Happy) for the first time since he left on October 9th. He's always sounded fine or Okay but this was different. He said that Captains Cup is Saturday and his Battle Stations is either Tuesday or Wednesday. He had been told different days by 2 different people. (I don't remember the initals he said. Plus I still have a hard time knowing what the initials stand for.) I'm so happy. Can you believe it. It's 8:32 a.m. One week from right now, we'll both be sitting in the stands with great excitement and huge anticipation waiting for our boys "Sailors" to march out into that arena and show us what they've learned. I didn't think I'd cry again until then but I can't help it. What an amazing feeling. Just thinking about next Friday makes the tears begin puddling. I so happy for you and Damien. I'm happy for all of us. This week will fly by and we'll be sitting in Flanagan's wondering how we're going to get any sleep until the morning. Hugs to you two!!!!! This is awesome!
Hey Dori,
Yes, Yes, Yes...... I am a happy mama right now! Adam called me also from the museum. He also went on about the skyline. I was so happy to hear his voice. He called me twice. I am so Thankful. Only 8 more days! We can see our kiddos!
