Pat, my son went in for Master At Arms and does his A school training at San Antonio Texas. Right now he's doing his BC aty GL. Hopefully this all pays off he's went the military police route because he wants to be a Conservation Officer and they pick military people first when they do their hireing. He is my first born son age 18, he signed up before he graduated High School.
Thanks Pat for the warm welcome. I would have to say Seabees in Hawaii is new to me. I do know that some seabees get "shore" duties which basically puts them away from the Seabee bases and out rotation for deployment. I found some active duty Seabees in NAS Jax when I visited there once. As for IA...hmm. I see both sides. She's your baby girl that once ran around in diapers while you chased her through the house. Now she's not quite so little but still that same baby girl. On the flipside of it all though when people are deployed who don't want to be they can be a danger to themselves and others, so when a person has the desire to be deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan in a time like this then it would be preferred that someone like that comes over here. Now on that note though IA would be best if she knew she could be attached to some type of NAVY unit. Army units are okay but they aren't always in "rear" (safe zone). Even though the Seabee motto is WE BUILD, WE FIGHT! I've only touched my weapon to clean it and because WE HAVE to carry it with us most places. Most of us are begging to just SHOOT them. So your "little" girl is very brave and has my respect for wanting to go IA. I tried once myself but found out I could deploy with another battalion and so I volunteered for that instead and now here I am!!!! Yes I volunteered to be over here right now. Feel free to contact me and let me know if you have any questions or just wanna tell me about your ups and downs! Thanks again!
Hello Pat and thank you for the warm welcome. My Sailors name is Patrick, and he is in Damage Control. He was stationed on the USS Bataan in February 2009 and was deployed immediately so all of this is very new to us all!
Hello, thanks! Josh is going into Advanced Electronics/Computers. I do not have all there terms down yet, but he wants to do the "FIRE ??" He is on hold right now in Great Lakes waiting to start school. Hopefully it will be soon.
Hi, That is great it sound like you had a great time... its good to here how great she is doing... i hope my son does that great in time... yes hes still in boot camp, going into his 3nd week but his letters keep me sane, lol
Pat i would also like to send you $. My son is stationed in Groton so it is alittle too close for comfort to me. I would like to think nothing will happen to him... However it is nice to see (read) how we are all here for each other.

Thank you Pat for the warm welcome. My son will leave for boot camp on July 9th. It is pretty hard on me, let alone my 8yr old daughter, and 14 yr old son. MY husband is kinda bummed also. Although Casey is his step-son, my husband is a 6"4 baby. I hope through this wonderful sight, I will do alright. I have found out so much information on this, I can't believe it. I hope to meet many new friends on here. God Bless... Shirley Johnson
Hi Pat. My daughter is actually entering her third year at the Naval Academy in Annapolis. This is a whole new experience for me as no one in my family has been in the service during my lifetime. My Dad was in the Army for a short time before I was born. So you have two in the Navy. Thank you for contacting me. How long has your daughter been in Hawaii?
Thanx for the info, Pat. I will send this link to my daughter. She took the ASVAB pretest yesterday and spoke with a recruiter. As you know, she needs a score of 50 and she only scored a 32. Do you have any good test reference links that she can utilize in her studies? The recruiter told her that she just needs to brush up for a week or two and come prepared to take the actual test.
Happy 4th of July! My mom is like you with 2 kids in the navy! me SK2(SW/AW) and my little brother ABHAN :) I saw you on the Nimitz group I was stationed on that ship I loved it and miss it a ton! :) Thanks for all you do Navy mom! its definatly the hardest and most rewarding job! Hope you and your family have a great weekend! :)
Dear Pat,
I'm just heart broken over this. Like you said, it could have been any one of our children, we do need to be supportive to one another.
Do you know the name of the funeral parlor Michael will be laid out in?
This is so heart wrenching. All I know, Marianne wrote me, and said that Michael was in a fight and had head injuries. The next day, I read that he was going to be taken off of life support.
I wrote to Pat in Long Island and asked her if she knew anyone who was attending the funeral. I haven't heard from yet.
I do want to attend. Maxine needs to know that her Navy "sisters" ( us moms) are all in support of her and that we are going through this heartache with her.
Please see if you can find out where Michael will be laid out in Jersey. What funeral parlor. Thank you so much.
Take care and God bless,
Your friend,
Barbara
Dear Pat,
I just read what you wrote on the Nimitz group. My heart is breaking over Michael's passing. I did send a sympathy message to Maxine.
Do you know if any Navy moms are attending the wake.? I know you want to go.
I saw Maxine's pictures. I didn't realize that it was Micheal on the float with us on the Columbus day parade. He was such a nice young man. I had a conversation with him, we all did.
Let me know what ever info you may have.
Take care and God bless,
Your friend,
Barbara
Thank you so much for the warm greeting to this new life in the Navy. My son is in his third week at boot camp. My Dad was in the Navy when they were testing nuclear submarines. Since then John is the only family member in the Navy. I am very excited for him and can't wait to see him at graduation.
My son is the first in the family to join the Navy, so this is all new to me. I'm very proud of him. Right now he is in camp. He left June 25th. I can't wait to see him at Grad.
