Yes...it was me. They have to go to https://mypay.dfas.mil/mypay.aspx
I was told they set up the userid and password in boot camp, but chris says he doesn't remember any such thing. but he can go to that website and set it up...that way he can access his leave and earnings statement and get his W-2...if you get him to go online and set it up he can send probably tell you the info..you can get them done and then picck a copy of it up from him when you go there to send in with the tax return.

hey jill.
hopefully the next time you hear from him, he will have his orders..
i really think its just a matter of days . i know hes paper work is done
so that cant be why he is on hold. i think someone just dropped the ball.
and didnt have his orders ready. but that wont take long to fix. a day or
two.. so i think he will be on the plane to pcola by next week like you said. i am so glad. ya shawn just called he is vomiting.. it is really worrying me that he is so sick.. but i think now he knows that he is. and he said when he goes to medical tomorrow he will let them know he really isnt feeling good at all. he feels so bad, he doesnt even care now if he has to make up a couple of days. he just wants to feel better.. he is
tired of feeling so bad.. i think he has an infection.. and needs antibiotics. so hopefully in medical tomorrow they will find out whats
wrong with him. he still has fever.. .. well girl i just cant wait for scott
to get to pcola. i really believe we will know something tomorrow.
let me know.. and if i hear something first i will make sure i call you
on your cell phone. well girl shawn just called i will talk to you tomorrow.
love you

Jill,
Phases are stages that they earn privlidges. It usually takes anywhere from 3 weeks up. They earn them based on good behavior, and other things I am not completely sure. What is your sons rate(job), that he is going to Pensacola for training for? I am sure it has something to do with aviation, that is where they all go. Yes my son is still in Great Lakes, he has been there for 74 days now. They really aren't in any hurry to sign orders or waivers. I was told that my son would be out of there by the second week of January, and here it is going into February, and he is still there. Even though he will most likely not even class up (start classes) until March or April. It is a hurry up and wait game...it is however the military for you. Hope that helps some.

Jill - I talked with Matt yesterday afternoon - caught him before class - I told him about Scott - he said that as long as Scott has graduated BC, he will be okay. They will keep him busy probably with the new recruits. If recruits are sent to ship 17 prior to graduation, it means they are being processed out of the navy. So, don't let this bit of uncertainty right now take away from your weekend memories - have faith in your sailor, and help him keep a positive focus. This is Scott's chance to shine! Stay in touch - Lou.

good to talk to you to. shawn is feeling so out of place in pcola. the ct quarters are
full so he and several other cts are in the it quarters. he is sick with fever ,coughing
like crazy and yesterday he was 1 hr late for muster. alarm never went off. its fix now
.but just in case i woke up early to give him a wake up call. lol. he said he would go to medical today. he does have more freedom then bc. since we went to the airport
he got to bring his cell phone and computer. his computer has a webcam and of
course i had to get one also for my computer. got to see him last night it was great.
he is feeling out of place right now , i know he will be ok. i am just worried about him
well you have a nice day.. love you girl..

Hi Jill--this sounds completely normal. I don't think he'll be there long, so help him keep up his morale. They just need time to get things sorted out with him before they send him off to school. My son was out within a month, but he had waivers to get through, first, so I'm sure they'll want to move him on his way quickly.
Have him be proactive and continue to ask about it. Sometimes the squeekly wheel gets the grease!
Good luck!

Jill - take a deep breath, it will be okay! Matt didn't have his orders either the weekend of PIR - he didn't actually get them till the day before he was to go to P-cola. It's not unusual for the sailors to move to another ship (area) after PIR as they are waiting for their orders and waiting to fly out. This is a part of the military that we will all become accustomed to - hurry up and wait. Just encourage Scott to cont. to do his best at whatever phase he is in - this is a constant conversation with Matt - he has seen repeatedly that giving your best effort does eventually pay off. Take care! Hugs - Lou.

There are different sides to Ship 17. The side people here about is the ones who are getting kicked out of the Navy. Your Sailor is just on hold there waiting to go to school.

Hi Jill! What an awesome awesome feeling i am filled with... even not feeling well. It wont last though. i just know my body is going to crash hard heer real soon. i dont know what got a hold of me today but it has taken a STRONG hold and is really kickin my butt! I was going to send an email to Katie tonight but decided to call her instead. It was SO GOOD to hear her voice. She said Lance is doing great and starts his new job (at SONY) tomorrow.

Run to him - hug him tight and just revel in the moment of all he has accomplished in such a short time. Yes, I understand about not saying too much here - I really have curtailed my comments here (another reason I don't have our photo out there - although I'd love to!). I told Matt about Scott's reclassification - his response was "sweet"! Please do give a call when you return from PIR - would love to share a favorite photo with you. Be prepared for the roller coaster of emotions this weekend - so excited to finally see them, getting used to your new and improved young man, and saying so long again on Sunday. Make sure Scott knows specifically when to be back on his ship each night - 5 sailors were late getting back and spent one whole day of liberty doing the whole division's laundry, and could only meet their families in Ricky Heaven that afternoon - bummer! I promise you it only gets better from here on - you will have much more contact with him, and as soon as he arrives in P-cola and calls you with his address, you'll be busy packing his things to send to him. Enjoy the memories! Hugs to you too - Lou.
