HI Jill, nice to meet you as well. I also highly recommend going to the get togethers if at all possible. You'll meet the nicest people, and I enjoy listening to their stories about their military children. My husband has an aunt that lives down in the Neenah area, wondering if you know them? Byron & Doris Anderson, they are big antique fanatics
My son is a corpsmen with the marines right now...how about yours? I just read you have large boat, we also love to boat and fish in Lake Superior and walk the sandy beaches of the Apostle Islands. My husband goes down to Algmo at least once or twice a summer to fish Lake Michigan with our 22' boat.
I just joined this site.I live in Milwaukee and want to know what a meet and greet event is and how to plan or get involved. We have a prayer group we just started at church for our military sons.Would like to meet others in the community for support.
Holly
Thank you Jill for the nice card I received in the mail today. That was so thoughtful of you!! I am just amazed at the number of phone calls, e-mails and cards that I have received since my diagnosis. That support from so many people will really carry me through this ordeal. I hate the thought of what lies ahead but know that I must face it head on. The upcoming visit with Kyle will be that much more meaningful to all of us. The family time together just the 4 of us will be precious. I just can't wait to see Kyle and wrap my mama arms around him!!! I miss him so much. He has always been my rock. --Susan
Thanks Jill, I can use all the support I can get. A part of me still doesn't believe that this is happening. It seems everywhere I go someone knows someone who is or was in the Navy. I've also heard nothing but good about it. My question to some of them is, "If it was really great for you, why didn't you stay in it & retire in 20 yrs." Some wish they had, others don't have much of an answer. My daughter, Jamie will be coming this weekend with her wedding book. Hopefully you'll get a chance to see the pics. Thanks for your support Jill

Hi Jill,
My son left for Great Lakes RTC February 17, 2009, he graduated 04/17/09. He is now stationed in Pensacola for Aviation. It's been pretty hard, I just read you comment below and had to fight back tears. This will be the first year since he was 5 that we won't be going to Brush Run together. He's my off-road racing buddy.... or as he got older I became his. Yeah, I wouldn't mind coffee if you let me know a little ahead of time. I keep myself very busy with work and my 17 year old. I have to keep myself moving. I couldn't be prouder of him, he is becoming such a wonderful young man. We do miss him a lot. Let me know when you would like to have coffee, I know that I have a few things coming up in the next few weeks. Thanks
Jill - finally had a few minutes to visit N4Ms today - just thought I'd drop you a line and wish you a happy summer. Be prepared for the roller coaster ride with "orders" - Matt's changed 4 times before they were finalized! He is settled into his base and becoming acclamated there - we shipped his van to him a couple of weeks ago just in time to load it up with sailors and spend the Memorial Day weekend in Maryland and D.C. - he never did the 8th grade trip there - he was impressed and truly appreciative with what he saw. Finney and I are planning a trip there to see him in Sept., waiting till the holidays to see him again is just toooo long! I like you so miss the sound of his voice and laugh in the house - 1st family celebration coming up this week without him - Anna's high school grad. Hope you have an awesome summer - we should get together for coffee, glass of wine, whatever once you know Scott's final orders. Take care - Lou.
I am a proud Mommy! I've sent pictures to Nick and he's excited about meeting him. He's been very good considering the long drive and then meeting Samson and today...the kids. I kept him on the porch most of the day and he came out a couple of times when the kids were quiet.
I'm so sorry but I didn't get it. I even checked my junk mail and it wasn't there. Can you send me it on here? Thank you! It's so funny that you understand what I meant about missing Abby when we're on vacation. And here I thought I was the only person that felt that way about my cat!!! LOL
Jill, I got your DVD ready! Will try to get it in the mail today or tomorrow. You will love it. A friend of mine at work helped make it special for you.

Jill, I wanted to let you know I haven't forgotten about you. I still haven't gotten the copies made yet, hopefully soon. Yours is first on the list. How is Scott doing? Joseph is still on hold in Pensacola, killing him right? Sand, sun and girls. He has been made yeoman there so he is keep busy.
Jill - saw the announcement for the WI moms get-together in Madison - I have to work that weekend - hope you had a nice time in P-cola. Matt left this a.m. for his first duty station - the saying so-longs do get a bit easier, I promised him I wouldn't cry today, but then all of those security guys at the airport had to go and thank him for serving his country and I just lost it!. Oh well, I keep telling myself we have to get throught the so-longs to get to the next welcome home! So, now he probably won't be home again until the holidays - we're going to plan a trip out to see him hopefully this fall. So, take care, you too will have your sailor home for awhile after he finishes A-school. Stay in touch - Lou.
This is Jo, from LaCrosse. I'd love to meet you all, either weekend works for me (right now), please keep me updated. Don't forget that the second weekend would be mother's day weekend!
