jim,
hi, i first want to thank you for taking the time to answer me so fast as i don't often go on here and you really helped me. my son is home as of last night, he is in his room sleeping, and so much has happened. they gave him 5 choices 4 sub and one carrier he went back in asked for corspman? and they finally said yes. he has to report back to the great lakes for school?? then he thinks he goes south somewhere mfm??i think he is in the marines now. so much went on in buds he never told me. one they thought he had cancer for a couple weeks and hehe said he was a wreck and never mentioned it then they gave him the results so he is ok. biut i am taking him to the family doctor his fever is high and i think he has pnenommia. anyway his scores were low on that entrance test i hope corspamn school is not so hard for him because if he fails this i don't know what they will do with him. my son looks pretty beat up and thin, he was much bigger when he left and happier. well got to go thanks for helping me so quickly. donna
thank you so much your answer was really great. he never mentioned anything about having to qualify only that his test score was low and I told him not to take it that day way back when because he had the flu real bad. he said today that the guy? who gives out the jobs put an email in to see if he ca get him corsman? and will let him know tommorrow if he gets it. my son does not know that I am on here talking because it really bothers him as he is a very private person, i never would have made it thru boot v=camp without this site but when he started pre-buds i droped off. thank you again I will be in touch and thatk you for answering so quickly.
hi my son dor 2 days ago from seal now he is a wreck and angry...what can he do about the jobs they offered him now???4 are on a sub and the 5th on a ship. he wants corpsman he wants to leave and go to the marines and they want him at the bottom of a sub i am afraid he will snap there or on a ship for 6mo. this whole thing was a bad mistake for him, and impulsive sign up over a bad relationship, he was in the police academy before this.please can you give me any advice donna
Hello Oldswabbie, I just stopped by to thank you for reading and including your story to my article "not coming home". Yes I totally agree with you. Everytime I see a serviceman or woman I stop to thank them for their sacrifice. I didn't understand how important it was until my son became a service member.
You were a great help and source of wisdom on the Navy Seals forum while my son was at BUDS. I know you will keep up the ministry to all these moms and dads that are going through what we went through!
274 starts Phase I today. If you hear anything, would you mind posting it on the seals discussion? Thanks. Not sure how much info I will be getting from my son during the week.
He's currently in ATT classes, will begin GM in the next 3-4 weeks. Wants to specialize in small arms, then volunteer IA and/or (?) attach to a Riverine Squadron.
I guess my 'specific' questions (first round anyway, hee-hee!) are what would the time frame be? Is there additional 'specialized' training? If so, what would that consist of? Also, what should he be doing in order to increase his chances of ending up where he wants to be?
Hee-hee, as you can probably tell, he doesn't share a whole lot of info with me - and yes, I am a 'nosy' mother but do my darndest to not let it affect him:)! Thanks for any info you can share:)!
LOL . . . Considering he signed under a SEAL contract BEFORE learning how to swim, I guess you could say that I'm not really a 'worrier' . . . I know he 'belongs' to the Navy now, but he's still 'mine' too. I believe in "knowledge is power" and the more I know about something, the better I can 'evaluate' and move ahead:)!
Thank you very much. I will tell him when he calls after he has gone back to medical this morning. I've read where it takes some guys more than once to make it through "hell week" but he is scared to death they will send him back to "scrape paint". Not what he wants.
Godd Morning, got some bad news last night from my son, they pulled him out medically out of " hell week" due to the fact of a fractured hip and torn groin. He said he goes back to the doctor this morn. for more xrays. He's very dissapointed. Got any encouraging thoughts? I feel really sad for him because he wants this soooo bad.
It's a small world. My family and I are just down the road from you in Moonville,SC I've got a son in class 273 so this week I am on pins and needles. Is there somewhere I can go for updates or any kind of peace of mind? Thanks
oh thank you so much. its been awhile but i think it is dnoto77. I am going to tell my son to join also now that he has his laptop out there. thanks again

Hi, I also have been going to navyseals.com and found alot of good forum converstations. I tried to join but had a problem getting a password to work. but i know your name on there. There's not alot of info or moms of swcc so I enjoyed at least getting to read real situations about swcc on that site. My son is out there (sd) since end of july waiting for class to begin. Nice to have you here with us navy moms.
