Hi Janet!! Just wanted to let you know we got another call from Paul yesterday. Of course it was supposed to have been a 1/2 hour call, but being Valentine's Day, he called Galit first (I don't blame him though)..was still good to talk to him!! He is doing great. Has been named AROC (asst recruit chief petty officer) so I guess he gets yelled at when the other guys don't get it right! Basil prepared him for that though! Anyway he said to say hello and that he misses all!! We need a girl's night out!! Call me when you can!!

Hehehe ... yes, it was a very short letter. But it was sssooo sweet. He told them about sharing the cards with recruits who didn't get anything, and how their cards brought smiles to all of their faces while they were reading them. Then he answered a couple of their questions, such as his favorite football (pro and college) and baseball teams. My students are pretty athletic for the most part, so they really connected with that. That brought Joe to life for them.

I know I said this before, but I knew after meeting Joe and seeing what a fine young man you raised, I just knew he would be great. I will still be praying, though. You are going to be so proud at PIR!!!! :)

Hi Janet- So Paul is now leaving on Monday, instead of Tuesday. They bumped him up again. Trying to spend as much time with him as possible this weekend. How is Joe doing?? We miss him! I think we are all going to brunch Monday morning, because he doesn't have to be to the office until 2 pm. If you aren't doing anything and want to join us, call me. Talk to you soon. Love Dawn

Hi Janet,

Guess what? We got a letter from Joe today! He answered some of my students questions, and thanked them for sending him cards. I have not yet read it to them because I only received it after they left, but they are going to be wicked excited tomorrow ;)

He sound so good. You must be so proud of him. Awesome job with the boy mom!

I just want you to know we all know and understand how important this is and what it means to you. Do you have any idea if he is going to get liberty for the weekend?

Hi Janet,
Just wanted to let you know I told my students about Joe sharing the cards with others who received no cards. My little fourth graders were so touched that he would do that. I think they might have a new favorite sailor! All I heard was a collective "Awww ... that was so nice of him." Have a great week!
