Sorry it's been so long - things are busy for me and it just keeping running out of "me" time!
I hope to be up in Ft. Cllins next week - I have a rack to move at RB+B Architects and then I would love to get together with you.
Wow - that was quite an award that Jessie won! How exciting! I know that he is going to do well in the Navy. I think they should have put him in the Nuke program - how did he do on his ASFAB?
Anyway - I can't wait to see you and really get caught up. As soon as I can coordiate something I will let you know. Hopefully it will stop raining and we cansit outside somewhere!
Dear Maggie,
Hey stranger, how are you? It has been awhile. I'm still here, this is my life! HAHA!! It's funny, I'm balancing two websites now, here and the Cochlear Community Here, I'm like the old timer, there I'm the new kid asking questions! HAHA!! This Navy for moms is more fun though. The other website, I write to about 12 people, they are not writers over there at all.
The other website, the members are deaf and have had the surgery the Cochlear Implant, which I am hoping to be accepted for.
That's all great news about Jesse, I'll keep him in my prayers
I never heard that the Avenger of the week!! Good for him!!
They all buy cars, Kim did too.
I'm a nerveous wreck when she drives up, 7 hours! UGH! Her ship has been finally doing 5 day test run cruisers. Thank God....the first cruise they had 4 fires on board. Imagine if they were really out to seas!
Summer isn't going fast enough for me!! You remember, I hate the heat!! But this summer has been, my husband took me to another ENT doctor that also specializers in Meniere's Disease. He's the one who has me being evaulated for this surgery, and God willing, in a few weeks, I'll have a hearing aide for my other ear. SO some progress is being done for me! HAHA!!
I'm going to check out that www.US flags. I also have an ornament that has the USS Normandy on it, that's Kim's ship. Thank you for letting me know.
Let me get going. You stay well and cool.
Take care and God bless you and Jesse,
Your friend,
Barbara
Dear Maggie,
My long lost friend, how you been? Yeah, I'm still around, it's a year now that I have been witting stready. It fills my hours! HAAH!
I wish Jesse all the best. What job does he do?
Kim's ship finally is taking 5 day test run cruises. Thank God,...... the first cruise the ship had 4 fires on board! I like the way Kim said, "We know how to put out fires". I'm glad to hear that, but there shouldn't have been any fires to put out!! HAHA!
Up to now, Kim did all odd jobs and was crossed trained for all the jobs on the ship. That's good to hear. She's also in Norfork Virginia, on the USS Normandy. This week, they pick up their weapons, what every mom dreams off !! UGH!!
They are expected to deploy in Februrary.
Were did you get the Navy flag? I'd like one and put it in my bay window.
I have Navy pins and even a Navy sticker on my walker, when I walk in parades with the Navy for moms!! HAHa!
Good for you, have a safe trip to Denver. I want ot go to Massachuttes, but no one wants to go. I was hoping since last year, to go to Plymouth, Massachuttes, for this month. But the money has been tight. Maybe next year.
I was hoping to get away with my husband, June 9 was 30 years since we first met. We went out for dinner, but I was hoping for a long weekend. I want to go whale watching!! HAHA!
My older daughter plans to drive to Virginia, to see Kim. Without me! Can't you just feel the love!! UGH! I know, I'm more a burden. What they plan to do, I have no interest in, like Bush Gardens, and I forgot what else.
I've been balancing two websites! HAHA!~ Here and the Cochlear Community,. I have a new ENT doctor, and he has me being evaluated for the surgery for the cochlear implant, it's a hearing device. I did research on it, and then my husband told me of that website. It's all members that are deaf, who have had that surgery. I write to about 12 women now. But no one is really into writting there, not like here. I get maybe one or two messages a day from there. Oh well.
I'll let you get going. Enjoy your vocation! HAve a safe trip!
Take care and God bless.
Your friend,
Barbara
Hi Maggie, How are things out in CO, here is FL it's been raining everyday for the past month. When you talk to Jess please tell him to find or text Danielle, they are going to Bush Gardens this week end and want to know if Jess wants to get away from the ship for awhile. It was so good to hear thier voices yesterday when they got close enough to call. Hope you have a great day.
Hi Maggie. Yes, I know it must be killing you to not be able to keep in close contact with Jesse. I know moms on my IT site use Skype a lot. A few of them have sailors in Italy. I know nothing about Skype but I guess I will when it comes the time that we need to. Justin hasn't had his 'sea legs' put on yet. He thinks that will come at the end of this 4 year sign up. Where he is at, Whigby Island, WA is an air base. He says it wakes him up at night a lot because the planes fly at all hours. He had cable tv installed so that and xbox is his life, for now, as he's not allowed to speak to those with a higher rank than him (weird huh?). He says there's nobody there with his low of a rank. He doesn't want to 'rank up' because he doesn't want all the responsiblities, he says. We can talk to him via phone, email and text however we just don't often speak really because don't want to interuppt him and the 3 hr. time zone diff. We, pretty much, let him call us. Even with not knowing anybody he says he likes it still, which is good.
Maggie, I can't wait they will be home next week sometime and I know the 1st person she will call will be me. She sent me an email Sunday and said that alot of people ended up with the flu and were sick ( her included) but she was better. Hope you have a good week.
Hi Maggie...this is NavyMom...my name is Holly....my email is j_t_kent@hotmail.com...if you tell me how my son can get in touch with your son...preferably while on ship,..I'll get Jesse on James' "youngsters list". My James has been in the Navy for over 12 years...he is much older--39...his wife, Margaret is a gym teacher.. They used to live on base and Margaret was the Housing Area "Mayor"..so they ere very active with Navy life. They have already made all the mistakes and figured out the shortcuts. They think that part of their duty is to help the "youngsters"...The last "youngin" I sent to them is now a Junior at Annapolis.
Don't hesitate to contact us! Holly
Hi Maggie - It was great to hear from you. Liz is finally in Pensacola. She's been there for a month. We drove over to see her about 3 weeks ago. She's not sure when she will class up but she's hoping around the end of June of so. So she's a bit frustrated. She loves the beach so she is right at home in Pensacola. It's a beautiful base. She's is just anxious to get things going. She's working as a Yeoman at the School of Air Traffic Controllers.
How's Jess doing? How are you? How often do you see him and where is he now? So many questions. It was great to hear from you. Let's stay in touch from time to time.
It's been such a long time. I was in Ft. Collins a couple of weeks ago and was wishing I had your info so I could call you! How are things going? I heard from Mary Ellen that Jess and Dani are on the same ship and have been able to hang out together. That is so great! Hope things are back on a better road for Jess and that he is going forward with determination and strength!
Eric call ed me yesterday - I swear that the Navy does things just to let the sailors know who is in charge. He got a 3.79 on his test he took yesterday (4th highest in the class - and he is top in his class right now overall), and because it was lower than his last grad by .08 - he had his study hours increased to 23 hours. That is above the 40 hours that they spend in class every week! Essentially, he has no life during the week except to study. He is not too happy about it at all! But there is really nothing that he can do about it except to deal with it. He is coming home for Memorial weekend and I think that the break will be good for him - and I haven't seen him since PIR! I'm sure that the time will fly by.
I hope everything is going well for you - keep in touch!
Maggie, I just got a call from Danielle, she said guess who I am with right now, I said who and she said Jess. She has been looking for him since Sunday night and they finally found each other. When i talked to her they were at the NEX getting some real food ( Jess was dani at on ship) and chatting. I am glad that they got together.
I know it is hard to let them go when they come home for 2 weeks but before we know it they will be home again. Keep in touch and God Bless You
Maggie,
How is it going with you? Dani is doing good on the ship, she is learning alot and meeting a lot of great people. She was wondering if she could have Jess's cell number so when he gets to the ship they can get together and chill out and she can show him around. If you want you can send it to my email mepeller@bellsouth.net. She will be looking for him on Friday when he gets in to the ship. They are still in port and will not be going out to sea till the middle to the end of May so Jess will be there when they go out. Please keep in touch and God Bless You all
Hi Maggie - I haven't been on N4M too much lately. But I'm reading the boards and were wondering what happened to Jess. Is he okay? I hope so. Liz is FINALLY getting to Pensacola. She has had some of her training up at GL, but she is glad to get to Florida. She leaves tonight. She's thinking of other options besides her Aviation Avionics. So we'll see. Let me know how you are and what happened to your son.
Maggie,
Danielle knows Jess and will keep an eye out for him when he gets there. She will be going out to sea with the Bush on April 20th for 10 days, She is looking forward to the trip. We are leaving here on the 15th and stopping for 2 days in Ga to see Teddys Parents its his dads Birthday. Then on the 17th we head to Norfolk and she has to be there on the 18th. She going out on sea trials to make sure the Ship is ready and to learn more on the her job and other stuff. She spent the first 5 days of her leave working at the recruiting office so she got those days back from her leave. No wedding yet, they have deceided to wait till sometime next year( thank you Jesus) I love them both but I'm glad their waitng. Well Keep in touch I will have my lap top with me and will check email everyday. Big hugs and kisses..
I just heard what happened to Jessie - I haven't been following N4M for a few days as my sister from Wisconsin has been visiting. Maryellen called tonight - she is in Pennsicola waiting for Danielle to be on leave. She was supposed to go today, and now they are hoping for tomorrow. The Navy is in their "hurry up and wait" mode.
Maryellen said to tell you that Jessie has a great group of friends there that are rallying around him. She said that if you want to talk to her in Pennsicola that you could call her on her cell. I have the number - just e-mail me and I will give ti to you.
I will be in Ft. Collins for a luncheon tomorrow. Is there any chance you could take a break from work and meet with me for a quick coffee or something? My cell is 303-945-1843. Call me if you can!
Take care - my thoughts and prayers are with you and Jessie!
Dear Maggie,
What a shame about the uniform business. That is ridiculous, but I know the Miltary is extreme with that! UGH! So now that the uniform is fixed, I assume, when is Jesse expected to graduate A School?
Will he still get the promotion of Petty Officer at least?
I wish him all the best!!
And you were worried sick about Jesse leaving, I remember!! HAHA!!
How bad was the blizzard? Two other Colorado moms told me about it.
Kim surprised us three weeks ago, She bought a car, and this was her third time up. She's so bored, just doing odd jobs. They don't know when the ship will pull out. The Commanding Officer made the annoucement the Navy is broke! HAAH! Can you believe this. He announced that they can't afford to fill the gas tank up yet. I thought some other Sailor was joking with Kim, knowing she's new. But No, it was the Commanding Officer!
Kim was home 6 days, you know that flew by.
Otherwise all is well, thank God . Kim looks great.
I'm being rushed off, my son wants the computer.,
You stay well, SO good to hear from you. I wish Jesse all the best, I will keep him in prayer.
Oh, Maggie, my heart bleeds for Jesse. The poor kid. I feel so bad for him....here I'll give him a virtual air hug-haha. Also, no, I could never ever figure out how to get the video onto the website. If Justin were here he'd know. He was suppossed to drive home the last 2 weekends (one or the other) and each time it came down to 2 days before leaving and they told him he couldn't go-that it was too far to drive on a 2 day weekend. This last weekend he was bummed as Sunday was his 19th bday. After he'd called to tell Weds. nite that he wasn't allowed to come again I got off the phone and cried. I just wished they wouldn't jerk them around like that. Either tell them yes or no. They've been saying yes, then maybe then changing the decision to no. Yes, please don't be a stranger.
