Hi Melinda,
He graduated today! My son is so happy to be done with school.
The website for the base is:
https://www.netc.navy.mil/centers/csfe/hueneme/
Hope your son does well there and graduates on time.
Hi Melinda!
Welcome to Jacksonville Navy for Mom's. You must be so proud of both your boys. My oldest son is currently in Pensacola finishing up with A school. We're not sure where he'll be heading next. My youngest son is a senior in high school. Don't think he's interested in the military so far.
I hope to meet you at the next luncheon. We live in the Fruit Cove area. Where part of Jax do you live in?
Have a wonderful day. Hope to hear from you,
Teresa
I hope you can make the next lunch also! There are a few of us on the site that are trying to plan a cruise. I hope it works out I so enjoyed the one I went on 7 years ago!
Hi Melinda, Interesting. My son is leaving Port H. and yours is just starting, LOL
I will get you that website when I get home to my desktop next week. Am visiting my aunt in TX right now.
My son is a Reserve tho wished he had signed up as Active. He is going to try to go Active but while waiting, he is going to do some mobilization/short term active duty. But we really don't know what will happen when he checks in with the Reserve duty station. Time will tell tho after next week.
Does your son like Port H.??? My son did.
Later, Carol
As for my puppy, he is a male Shih Tzu/Maltese mix. What kind of mix is your dog then? Do you have a pic of him/her??? I love our dog. He is great.
Hi Melinda,
I just wanted to say hello. I hope you had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!! I hope things are going well for you.
If you need someone to talk to, please feel free to write to me.
Talk to you again soon.
Take Care & God Bless,
Your Friend,
JoAn
I searched EVERYWHERE for a A school Port Hueneme group and could not find one, so I created one last night, LOL, and then I found you! Would love to chat about this. My SAILOR arrived at Port the last week of November, and classed up about two weeks ago. Have a great holiday! Shelia
Melinda,
my sons girlfriend is taking southwest and I was looking for a mom that wouldn't mind meeting up with her at the airport in midway because she is a little scared about getting to waukegan herself from there.we are staying at the ramada in wauk...and will get her on that end where ever the shuttle leaves her???and could also give you guys a ride from there also to your hotels they are all mostly in the same area. my husband and i can't fly because he suffered a collapsed lung(dive and rescue) and is not allowed. she is fine on this end from philadelphia because she works in our airport.anyway if it is not to inconvient could she maybe go with yous on the shuttle, or if you are renting a car from there i will pay for her 1/2. thank you Donna gerry's mom div 035 pir 12/19
Hi Melinda, just thought I'd address your questions from BC Moms:
yes, as soon as they move over to the "A' school side, they can have their cell phones, laptops etc. Phone calls home to wife and Mom will once again be a regular thing, though if you haven't learned to text yet, you may want to brush up! I had to learn. =)
Tell your younger son to not be discouraged. There are many jobs he can do that I'm sure will be fulfilling in the Navy. Nows the time to do his homework, do a little digging and asking of questions. Of course, it will depend on his ASVAB scores, the timing/fiscal year and "Needs of the Navy" which I'm sure as a former Navy wife, you are very familiar with. My condolences on the loss of your husband! Thank your boys for us for being willing to step up and honor their father and their country with their service. My son has loved being a Corpsman, it's very fulfilling and challenging, plus colorblindness is not a hindrance to doing that job. Just one possibility to check out. Best wishes to you and both your "boys". Happy holidays! :-)
Hi Melinda, You have a handsome son. Is that is wife? I am glad you other son is going to the recruiter. I sure hope it all works out for him. Keep in touch. Laura
Hi Melinda, Yes, it is a small Navy world. We used to live in FL. We moved up here to North Carolina when Justin was 5 now he is 20! His brother Jason was 3 and he is now 18! Boy has the time flown!! We used to live in St. Petersburg/Clearwater area. We are sure glad we moved here. Maybe the next time you come to visit, we can meet up. I work in Flat Rock.
I know what you mean about trying not to hover. I guesss once a mom always a mom.
Justin likes Okinawa but is ready to come back to the states. He has been there since June 2007. He will be heading back June 2009. He won't be able to come home this Christmas so hopefully, when he does come back to the states, we will be able to have Christmas in June or July with him. Thank God for e-mail and the sattelite phone.
Our son Jason is in college at Georgia Tech. We thought he was going to follow his brother but he changed his mind. Oh, well, we are proud of both of them.
Well, have to go for now. Talk to you again soon.
Take Care,
JoAn
Hi Melinda, Welcome to Empty Nesters. It is very nice to meet you! I'm sure your husband is watching over your sons and IS very proud of them. I know my mom was very close to my son and she isn't here to see what Justin is doing but I know she is watching him and is also very proud. I know she is also watching over my other son Jason. He is in college but almost joined himself.
I agree, Navy is safer. Justin is in Okinawa, Japan and even though he is far away, I feel better he is there.
I still struggle from time to time with this "empty nest" I'll get there eventually.
Let me know if I can help you with anything or you just want to talk.
Take care
JoAn
Hi Melinda, I hope all is well. I am sure they will do all the right things for him. He is in good hands. I will work out for his best interest. It is stressful. I agree.
Hi Melinda, Welcome to emtynesters. Sorry to hear about your husband. He would be very pround of Matthew. You will get to see him soon. Navy- Army. NAVY, it is safer. Thate care, Laura
