My son is in VA aboard the USS HARRY S TRUMAN He is an Aviation Boatswain Mate Fuels. He has been there since Nov. He has been home 2 times so far since bootcamp. I have been to VA to visit him and his wife. and i am looking forward to going again. write back Teri Q. :)
Hi Susan;
Well how are you doing now that the waiting is over?? They have graduated. You said that your son is staying at Great Lakes? Did they let him go "across the street" yet? My son told me that the guys who will be in school there go across the street to the other side of the post and it is supposed to be really nice.
Michael has been able to buy a cell phone down there and I have heard from him nearly everyday for a week. From famine to feast.
Let me know how you are.
hi susan - i know the feeling - i will be flying in from portland on thursday = jason has said that he thinks that battlestations is on wed and yes is cutting it close - but he sounded upbeat and happy - orders have changed for him and he will be staying in gl for a school - he was pleased to get a ribbon for his shooting skills and has been maintaing a 5.o on test - said there group fell by .04 this last test so are in 2nd place for top honors didivison = m y son is the going to be the one carring the one of the flags - he even sent me a diagram of where his group will be standing for pir = in the front on the left hand side - on the end -
Hey susan,,,,,Yea they are cutting it close. We leave 8:30 Thursday morning. My husband is hoping the weather will be good to drive. You know men. I think it will be a blast to see some snow. I haven't seen snow in years. I am charging up both camera today and getting some stuff ready. My daughter will be flying with us. So we are all excited. I won't be surprised if I don't get another letter from Brandon before we leave. I am hoping for at least one. I will be there for the Meet and Greet. Hope to see you soon.

Ooops....sorry....I thought it was No. Adams 'Michigan'.....I'm still glad to meet you and wish your sailor the very best!!!!! I am from Marshall, Michigan...just across the lake from boot camp.I hope you have a safe flight:o)
I'd just noticed that you are from just down the road from us! We live in Marshall! Our son is in Division 080 and just passed Battle Stations. He told us that Battle Stations is more hype than anything. Try not to worry about your son, he will be fine and will too pass.
Susan;
Thank you. I rubbed the screen so some of your faith will rub off on me. I really hope to meet you though I don't think I will make it to the meet and greet. We are staying at Quality Inn in Waukegan. I have to believe that the instructors want him to pass as badly as he and I do.

Hi Susan!
Just wanted to remind you that we are having a Meet and Greet on Thursday Night (yes - next week - yeah!) at Flanagan's at 6:00. We would sure love to have you join us. All the information is on this web site under events. Let em know if you can come!
Hi Susan i was just reading your posts and I have a son that PIRd Sept 19th 2008. He is now stationed in Norfolk VA. I know of all the feelings you have. and if you want to chat you can just leave me a post i will get back to you. What is your son going for? mine is an Aviation Boatswain Fuels. He will soon be going on Deployment. Teri Q. : )
Hey Susan,
there is a meet and greet scheduled for thursday like 6 or 630 at Flanagan's. Not sue where that is, but it sounds close to us. Check out the forums or groups on this site, that's whee I found it. Hope to meet you.
I susan..........so thrilled to hear that your son is in DIV 088 too. I am getting so excited that time is getting close for PIR. I am from TN. Where are you at? Hopefully we can meet while we are there.
Hi Susan,
I'm glad you booked. I'm sure your son will PIR that weekend, keep your thoughts positive. I'm with you, Ihope the weather improves too. Did you book a hotel yet? We're staying at the springhill suites in Waukegan. It's only 41/2 miles to base. It looks beautiful. We got AAA discount for 75.05 a night and you can join the Marriott rewards for free and have them connect you to Hertz if you don't have a car yet and you'll get a discount thru them as well. We rented a Toyota 4-runner or similar for 244. for 3 days. Keep in touch.
Hi Susan,
If you can get good flights on Southwest we booked non-refundable because you can change dates without any penalyties. You only have to pay the difference if there is any for the new date. The hotels from what I understand are the things to go first. We booked 2 rooms at the Springhill Suites in Waukengan. 4 1/2 miles from base. Good luck
Matt is coming home on Monday. He is in the medical section of ship 17 not in the medical so there is no problems.... he should be able to reinlist if he chooses to but we will see if hes gonna want to after all this mess.
I got a phone call from Robert, last night. He said that they're class scored the highest on the test (????) on the base in 2 years!! He also said Jan. 30, but 39 SR's have to pass in order for that to happen. He said there are a couple of SR's that might not make it, but to plan on the 30th. I'm waiting till they mail the PIR packet until I book my flight, etc..
