Hi Susan;
Well how are you doing now that the waiting is over?? They have graduated. You said that your son is staying at Great Lakes? Did they let him go "across the street" yet? My son told me that the guys who will be in school there go across the street to the other side of the post and it is supposed to be really nice.
Michael has been able to buy a cell phone down there and I have heard from him nearly everyday for a week. From famine to feast.
Let me know how you are.

Hey susan,,,,,Yea they are cutting it close. We leave 8:30 Thursday morning. My husband is hoping the weather will be good to drive. You know men. I think it will be a blast to see some snow. I haven't seen snow in years. I am charging up both camera today and getting some stuff ready. My daughter will be flying with us. So we are all excited. I won't be surprised if I don't get another letter from Brandon before we leave. I am hoping for at least one. I will be there for the Meet and Greet. Hope to see you soon.

I'd just noticed that you are from just down the road from us! We live in Marshall! Our son is in Division 080 and just passed Battle Stations. He told us that Battle Stations is more hype than anything. Try not to worry about your son, he will be fine and will too pass.

Susan;
Thank you. I rubbed the screen so some of your faith will rub off on me. I really hope to meet you though I don't think I will make it to the meet and greet. We are staying at Quality Inn in Waukegan. I have to believe that the instructors want him to pass as badly as he and I do.

Hi Susan,
I'm glad you booked. I'm sure your son will PIR that weekend, keep your thoughts positive. I'm with you, Ihope the weather improves too. Did you book a hotel yet? We're staying at the springhill suites in Waukegan. It's only 41/2 miles to base. It looks beautiful. We got AAA discount for 75.05 a night and you can join the Marriott rewards for free and have them connect you to Hertz if you don't have a car yet and you'll get a discount thru them as well. We rented a Toyota 4-runner or similar for 244. for 3 days. Keep in touch.

Hi Susan,
If you can get good flights on Southwest we booked non-refundable because you can change dates without any penalyties. You only have to pay the difference if there is any for the new date. The hotels from what I understand are the things to go first. We booked 2 rooms at the Springhill Suites in Waukengan. 4 1/2 miles from base. Good luck

Matt is coming home on Monday. He is in the medical section of ship 17 not in the medical so there is no problems.... he should be able to reinlist if he chooses to but we will see if hes gonna want to after all this mess.

I got a phone call from Robert, last night. He said that they're class scored the highest on the test (????) on the base in 2 years!! He also said Jan. 30, but 39 SR's have to pass in order for that to happen. He said there are a couple of SR's that might not make it, but to plan on the 30th. I'm waiting till they mail the PIR packet until I book my flight, etc..
