Hi, Kim. Haven't been on much, myself - but wanted to drop a quick hello to my Navy mom friends. Hope all is well with Anthony, and will keep you all in my thoughts. Blue Skies,
I am in Belleville, about 10 minutes from downtown St. Louis. Easy access from there, which helped for me to able to host a dinner for the Vice Admiral. He is really looking forward to meeting many of the Moms and Dads of local sailors - both Illinois and Missouri. I hope alot of our IL N4Ms can make it - I can't wait to meet everyone.
Hi Kim - you're a trooper Navy Mom! Thank you for your offer to come to the dinner with the Admiral, and contribute a dish. I will know more on the 'what to bring' dishes after I get more confirmation from local caterers who may contribute to the dinner.
I think you and your husband (bring Kyle, too) will find that the Q & A session with the Admiral will be just what you will need to answer some of your questions about Anthony's upcoming deployment. This is a great opportunity for any Moms and Dads and I am SO excited to be able to host this event.
By the way, my Navy Mike is currently deployed in the Western Pacific. I am so used to talking to him daily, or emailing him daily - and when they are out to sea, it doesn't happen daily anymore. But that is only temporary. Just when you least expect it... at the stroke of midnight, the phone rang "Hey, what's up?" was missing him terribly earlier today - and tonight, he called.
If you ever need to talk, you are welcome to email or PM me - I'll give you my home telephone number. I work from home, and always available.

Near Peoria, My son is MA and Reserve. he is 22 and moved to TX just this last summer than called us and said he was joining the Navy. He went to Great Lakes for BC so it worked out we could drive to see him.. He is home sick ..Jake goes over to Norfolk often to hang out on the weekend.
Thanks Kimberly for the info. I hope Jesse will calm down the next few days. I guess it's not just the new place but being homesick at the same time is a bit much.
Glad to have another Illinois Mom. Be sure and join the Illinois N4M page. There have been a couple of different locations for meet and greets.
We are proud of Anthony

Not to sound hard on men, but I don't think they will ever understand the connection, or bond, a mother has with her child. I am on my own with my pergatory. My husband (Lester's father) passed away 20 years ago, but I get all the strange looks from my father and friends whenever I start to worry too much. However, I have my puppy dogs and my grand puppies to keep me company.
I completely understand your fear even though Lester hasn't gone to Afganistan. (rumor has it, possibly in Dec. 09). It just seemed like all hell broke loose in the Persian Gulf area while he was there, or maybe I was just glued to the TV set more. I understand the job they are doing and I am so proud of each and every one of them, but it's not easy just sitting here while my baby is in harms way. It goes against human nature. I must protect my baby! Now I finally understand the phrase, "War is hell on the homefront too."
He's on his way back from the Persian Gulf. He had been there since October. I believe he is docked in Spain right now, not sure exactly. I miss him terribly. 34 days and counting! Keep yourself busy and the time will fly by. The next thing you know, you'll be counting down the days as well! Anthony will be in my prayers and my thoughts.
