Hi Michelle. What's the latest on Emily? I take it she has had PIR by now. So, what is the next step or where is she now? I hope she is doing well. Terry is still up in Great Lakes - at least for 4-5 more weeks. Then he will go to Panama City, FL. He is doing well. Special Ops training is brutal! But, he is young and seems to be handling it well. He's looking forward to Dive School. I'm going up for a visit next weekend (Oct 9-12). Hope you and your family are well. Keep in touch.
Well Im so happy you made it. It was a long haul for you and your daughter and everyone. I hope you enjoyed every moment because it
goes sooo fast and then its time to say "until next time"....I miss my daughter so and next time might be Christmas...:) seems so far away and we seen her last on 8/28...
How was your daughter's graduation? I hope you are getting to spend some time with her this weekend!

Kristen wants to travel to that is why she joined and because she wants to continue going to school. Zehr is her last name and she is in Div 336 ship 9. She went in as one thing and they switched her to a Mechanic she cried because if you knew Kristen she is my girly girly out of both my girls and well being a mechanic really is not her forte but she is being optimistic she said she went through 4 cars and all of them had problems so she sees it as a sign she will change in 2 years. I am soooo proud as I am sure you are and I can hardly wait for nxt Thurs to get here. Where are you staying? We are staying at the Marriott Courtyard it is 3 mi. away from the base. We will fly into Midway because we fly Southwest. How about You?

Hi Michelle...Congrat's on Emily's upcoming PIR...get ready for an amazing PIR week-end....PIR is an unforgettable event so take lots of pics of the ceremony & especially of your sailor & her new friends...You need to go see Navy Pier if you can and go to the top of Sear's tower...you walk on glass and it appears that you are walking on Downtown Chicago...take a ride in the Metro and let your Sailor experience the ride because they will be utilizing this mode of travel a lot when they have liberty on week-ends...There is also Six Flags but I'm not sure what the fall hours will be so you will need to check...
Is Emily a Grad & Go after PIR? Since she OS is her "A" school in Great Lakes? Brandi was Grad & Go so she had liberty with us all week-end which was awesome...She was also allowed to have her cell phone & laptop but we did not bring her laptop with us because we really did not know at the time of PIR...Brandi was in the USS Enterprise (Indock ship) for about two weeks and just finally moved to her permanent ship waiting on her "A" school...she has been on hold but she is starting SBC classes next week for 12 days & hopefully going right into her "A" school....She will complete her phase II on Monday & will be allowed to wear her civillian clothes while she has liberty....She is so excited...I have to ship her clothes to her next week...
Tell Emily...she will be going to indock classes her first week after PIR week-end....and pulling a lot of duty & watches...she will be informed what she needs to do in order for her to reach Phase II....
Brandi has met so many great news sailor friends and she is having the time of her life...Emily is going to love it....
Michelle if you have any other questions please ask away....we are all here for each other....we are family....lots of hugs....
Yes, my daughters are still in Japan. The oldest one gets out September 28, 2009. The youngest will be there 2 more years. Stephanie is a 1st class and Jennifer is 2nd class. Nukes to the end. I am happy and serving the Lord. Congrats to your Emily for a job well done.
Congratulations on all the good news. He has been on hold more than anything. He does like the little bit of freedom they do get now. He did finally start his first school. Is about 1/2 way through that now. As far as PIR, get there early, take a shuttle if possible, and be ready for a lot of excited people. We rode the train into Chicago one day and just did whatever the other days. Hope you have a great weekend with Emily.
Thank you! It was so good to see our son! I know you're getting excited, too. I am trying to upload some pictures now - that is kind of new to me! I think I'll have them on my page soon. Good luck to your daughter as she approaches her last weeks!
I am like Barbara. Since I am staying at the Ramada I will hit that one first and if it is not too late I will head over to the one at Flanigan's. Can't be out too late though I have got to get up early the next morning. Have a very important event happening don't ya know.
I am sooo very happy for you im sure you, your family, and your daughter are very happy. Not too much longer. PIR was great...the weather was not good for us...rained and rained and rained so more. Stay close to base if you can maybe take train into Chicago other than that we went to the Mall, had Starbucks, ate dinner out, we did a one nice meal out each day and quick the rest. visiited in our hotel room, she took a really nice shower, had ice cream nothing spec but it was great. She has moved over to the school side and is in Phase I she is trying to earn Phase II liberty. She is on hold for OS. Don't know how long that will be? There is another mother here on this site that her daughter has been on hold for OS since I believe July 29th...so maybe your daughter didn't miss much after all. Oh we also took a drive down to Lake Michigan..that was nice too. Each night she wanted to be back about 1 hr before Liberty actually ended. She felt good not running it close and said it gave her time to change, iron and do the things she needed to do without "sweating it". If you have any more questions I will be happy to try to answer. I am on my way to meet a mom from my town where her son is in BC now....
I hope to make it to Flanigans. I'm going to be at the Ramada Inn one first, then see how late it is. Even if it's just for a little bit, I hope to make it over. Yeah, I think we're all needing hugs about now!
There is going to be a Meet and Greet at Flanagan's on the 24th from 7pm to 10pm. Also some of the hotels like the Ramada and the Residence Inn will also be having them. I am conflicted right now because I am supposed to be going to the Ramada one but I think that I will just have to do both.
Wow! That is definitely a freak accident! And she's been there since JUNE?? Crap! Holly left Aug 2nd and I think that's bad. My heart is out there for you.
My daughter's always been kind of a tomboy, so her best friends are guys too. She'll be going to Pensacola for A school. Makes me happy since it's just 5 hours from home. And they extended the school from 6 weeks to 20 weeks, so she'll be nearby for a little extra time. She's going into Cryptology, CRN and hoping for orders overseas first time around. Hard to let the bird fly away :P
My son and I are flying up Wednesday evening and leaving Sunday evening. He's out of school for the week, so thought I'd take some extra time with him up there. The fares are quite volatile. I've been watching them for 3 weeks and they've gone as high as $300 and then the low of $145. The airlines try to make people crazy I think!
There had been one other Atlanta mom on here, but her son got held back, so she moved to a different PIR date - so I'm glad you're here!
