I discovered that they had actually gotten medical records on my son since birth. All they need is the name now and it's all computerized. My son had a tiny heart murmur when he was born, he grew out of it but they wanted to make sure so they did an EEG on him. He was also on ADHD medications years ago and they found out about that also. You can't keep anything from the Government but they surely keep things from us.
sarah, here is the link for Ship 17 moms. Numbers and addresses and links are at the top of the group page.

Hi Sarah. welcome to Navy Moms of Discharged Sailors. They do find out previous medical history , they send for pharmacy records and medical records, so it isn"'t a surprise. It takes a while sometimes but the info does come out. We have a lot of contact numbers at the top of ship 17 Moms(now ship 5 separations.
Hi Sarah, welcome to Navy for Mom's:)) You will find a lot of answers, support and encouragement here. My daughter, Ashley, has been in the Navy since July 2007 and is an IT. What are your son's doing with the Navy? If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I'm glad you joined and look forward to hearing more about you & your Sailor's. Pat
We are so glad that you are here! This is a great place to meet others that know exactly how you feel!
We have something for everyone here groups from boot camp moms to overseas moms and moms that like to scrap book. We have meet and greets to events that the moms set up to meet each other and have dinner or an outing. There are groups to help you with each and every step of this wonderful adventure that our children have chosen called the US Navy.
Please tell us about your sailor and what they have chosen to do in the navy and ohh yeah we LOVE pictures of everyone !!
Please let me know if you have any questions I can help you with.
