Thanks for the Welcome! We have lived in Wilmington for a couple of years and love it! Not enjoying this very cold rain we are getting tonight though!!
Are you all getting any snow? You might be like us too close to the coast to get any. Sometimes I wished we lived closer to Raleigh. LOL
It doesn't look like there are many NC Moms on here.
I am thrilled that he got it and is so happy about it! Thank you for letting me know, it put a huge smile on my face! (And restored a bit of my faith in the old postal service, hahaha!)
Hi Chris,
Thanks so much for checking in. Hope all is going well for your son. I am so excited cant believe it is in 6 days Woo Hoo!!! Thanks too for the tip on the dressing warm. It's so nice to have someone who has been there before and totally understands. I can barely think about it without getting heart palpatations. This site helps so much because other moms have said the same thing so you dont think your going crazy!! lol
Now if I could just get over my fear of flying it would all be good. As of now we are driving from N.H. about 14 hours. Certainly well worth the drive...I can't wait. Thanks again for your continued support I wouldnt have made it through these last 8 weeks without people like you!!! Have a wonderful holiday I cant wait to let you know how everything went. Take Care Cheryl
Hi Chris,
Thanks for all your support. I dont know what I would do without people like you and this site!!!
Thanksgiving was definitely not the same. And I am right there with you crying while I was preparing some of the things I know he enjoys!!!
Nineteen days until PIR (but whose counting) I cant wait!!! (as if I need to tell you). Hope all is well with your son and family. Take Care and God Bless
Hey Chris,
Thanks for all the info. You are such a great help!!!! I cant believe how soon until Mark graduates!!! Then off to A school in Florida. Its always so good to hear from someone whose been through all this. Wishing you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Hi Chris,
Thank you it is so hard not knowing what is going on. (as I know you understand)
he did call on Saturday and apparently is sick along with most people in his division. That of course bothers me for a multitude of reasons!!! I am unfortunately one of those what if people...what if its the flu...what if it sets him back in BC...you know all things I have no control of knowing or even doing anything about. So I will just sit and wait as so many moms before me have done and remind myself that this is such a wonderful journey he is about to embark on. It is so nice to hear your son enjoys his job. Do many PR's get stationed on carriers that are stationed at sea??? Well I am on 32 days until PIR I cant wait. Which hotel did you stay at when you went?? Again Chris thanks so
much for taking the time to check in. This website has been my lifeline and I look forward to being able to do what you have done for me once I graduate as a Boot Camp Mom survivor!!!! Take Care Cheryl
Hi Chris,
Wow you are a wealth of information!!! Thanks soooo much. Not knowing for me is the hardest so you have helped me immensly. It sounds like an intricate job which I hope my son will do well at. I can't say he is the most patient when it comes to tedious jobs but I guess we will see. It is so hard to know what job will best suit someone. His recruiter told him this would be best for him so I
pray he is right. It sounds like your son is in a beautiful place. I agree with you on the navy for moms website it has only been two weeks and I dont know what I would do without it. God Bless our Veterans and our Sailors!!!!

Hey Chris,
My son is in BC with a PIR of 12/18 and then headed to Pensacola for Parachute Rigger A School. I would love any info on being a Parachute rigger you could give as I can't seem to find too much on the internet about it. Thanks so much
Cheryl
Hey Chris,
I'm trying to plan a meet, greet, and eat for the Eastern NC Navy Moms for sometime in October. If you're interested in joining, please let me know. Thanks, Tammy Song
Welcome to the Washington Whidbey page! There are several local moms on the page... let us know if we can support your sailor! We are always happy to host someone for dinner! Whidbey is a beautiful spot!
Hi Chris!! Yes, i already have a banner that i am gonna hang up outside the house, I think it is like 2 ft by 4 ft, says welcome home and has the navy emblem on it......I am making a small poster size banner to take to the airport when we pick him up!! Thanks!!
Hi Chris, I am glad you messaged me. Ye it is so tough to be away from your son. I can't begin to tell you that it gets easier, as so many people will tell you that. It just feels so different. You will be so proud when you see Scott graduate from BC. It's a whole new world for them and us too! Anytime you would like to talk I would be sooo happy to chat with you, as I am going through the whole empty nest thing myself. My son Terry is on the USS Theodore Roosevelt and I hear from him, but it's not enough for me. :)
He works on the flight deck and has very long hours, but he does get to see lots of action. As I understand it, there will be a visit by Harry from the CBS Early morning show. He will be there on Friday, so I have to make sure I am up to see that. I am happy that he has chosen a life away from some of the people that he was around when we lived in Orlando. I really did have a big influence on his decision. He wanted to make me proud. I have only lived here in Wake Forest for 3 months now. I have a daughter that still lives in Orlando and I moved here to live with my sister and be closer to Norfolk when that ship comes back. I have already been back to Orlando twice to visit with my daughter, so I am running the roads. I work here from the house, so if you would like to talk, please feel free to let me know. Do you mind if I add you as my friend?
Thanks and welcome to the NavyMom Website. I am not sure how far you are away from us, but a few moms who live within a 100 miles or so are planning on a pot luck diner or lunch, so we can all meet.
Cynthia
Hello Chris,
So glad to have you here. My brother is baseball coach at Topsail high (Do you know him?) and my son Stephen just joined the navy. He is set to graduate this friday 11/21. Wow! I never thought it would get here. Have missed him so very much but this site has been a lifesaver.
