Hey, Miss Lolly! (My grandmother had the same first name as you, and that was her nickname!) I'm so jealous that you've got your arms around that sailor and are probably hugging his stuffings out! What a perfect Christmas gift. Enjoy every last second of it. Have fun feeding him cookies and snacks, and letting him sleep late. And if you're like me, you won't mind the clutter on the floor! Merry Christmas, k.

Navy 08 Mom - what a joyous homecoming for you and those families! Waiting in the hangar may be the most emotional wait you will ever experience. So very happy to hear he is back safely in the USA!

Thanks for the info. I was always wondering where the flags came from. I'll also get one for my sister who's husband left for Iraq last week. Thanks again.

I thought Jim was coming back to Jax also, but he told me he is coming back to the Brunswick base. I don't know if there will be several flights bringing the sailors back or not. It does make sense since all his stuff is in storage in Maine, and his vehicle is in storage on the Brunswick base. But after that he will be driving down to Jax with a u-haul I guess, unless he has the navy move him like he did when he lived in Jax and made the move north to Maine. He will be in Italy working for a while, and leaves soon, this week maybe? He is excited about that.

Jim is getting ready to go to another country for a few weeks, and with only __ weeks until they return home, it should make his time over there a bit quicker. I am not sure if we will be in Maine for the homecoming, he has a tight schedule with the homecoming, getting his items out of storage and them moving everything down to Jax for his next post. He planned on staying here for a week or so on his downtime, but now he probably won't be able to do that. We are not sure. Hearing from him is getting farther and farther between, he is so busy right now. How is Wes doing?

Hi Navy 08 mom. I was beginning to think that there were no sailors from northern indiana. My daughter is going into her fourth week. Just got my first letter. Didn't realize how hard this was going to be. Amanda is our last to fly the coop.

Well Ryan is actually in Qatar as well. Thanks for the info...I figured it would be a few days before he was able to call. Since your son uses skype to call you, I'm figuring they must have internet service? We would skype each other when he was in WA so we could see each other as we talked. I hope that is the case. Thanks again.

Hello,
My name is Laureen and my Daughter is Elizabeth. She has just gotten to Whidbey Island. She just called me and is really sad. Her husband in in North Carolina and is really missing him. She has only been married for two weeks. She is really shy and is missing everyone. She has no car and she said the the base has on transportation on it. She sees no light at the end of the tunnel. I was hoping that you can give me some info on the base. I told her to go to the Church on base and see what is going on there. I told her I would ask around and see what I can come up with. I hope you can help me. Have a great weekend and thanks for the help.
God bless,
Laureen

Hi again Navy08 mom, looks like the "Moms getting ready" Group is a good place for you to hang out right now. The other "Sandbox" Group I listed has some great Moms who have lots of experience sending boxes and supporting Sailors over there, so I thought you might glean some useful info from their discussions. Some of them have Sailors who were also previously in Quatar and elsewhere. Here's a couple I found:

(Her son is back and stationed at Whidbey now)

plus one you may have 'met" already whose son is also leaving in June:

The clock is tickin' down the hours. Have a wonderful reunion! :-)
