Hi Julie
I am back! Had a great time with Bryan and some of his friends from the ship. He looks really good. Not to happy with being "undesig" on the ship but he is going to strike a rate in September when he returns. I think this made him realize that he did want to have a "job". We laughed and talked so much during our trip. I did find out that each family has only two tickets but his friend (John) his recruiter here in Tucson will not be using his tickets for the October ship christening...so if you want to come their will be a ticekt. How is Cory? Bryan leaves in July for his shake down cruise and is looking forward to that as well as making it back to his port in San Diego.
Okay I guess that is enough for now. Crazy day at work so I think I am going to try and relax for a bit.
And I love you for that ~~ We must work as a team so that we have all angles looked at !! I said something in the room also ---just a reminder you know :) HUGS
Hey Julie! Yep, count me in! Books, Navy Moms, Coffee. I can't think of a more perfect Sunday! It was a bit crazy around our house, family in town, Ethan's graduation....but finally I think things are on the way to calming down. Any news from Cory? Hope all is well there.
Julie good thought ~ as of right now we dont send any names to anyone outside our group. We do have many with support websites asking to help ? We keep saying that we will have a website soon !! BUT good thoughts for sure -not everyone loves our military ~
that's good.
I've gotten 3 phone calls from george, and all of them were very short. anytime i talk to him he says the "phone nazi" comes around and tells him to wrap it up. :(
Hiya:)! We're not 'mental' . . . LOL:)!
Anyway . . . got my schedule and they let me have Sunday off too . . . so, do you want to do a Coffee 'Hour' at the B&N at 10am on Sunday? Those who want can join us?
I'll be working tomorrow (11-6:30) but have Tuesday scheduled off . . . then work Wed, Thurs, Fri before heading your direction:)!
GIANT HUGS:)!
Hey Julie!~
Thanks for your sweet words of support....you are so special! Martin's visit was good...way too short...and way too busy (his choice)....we spent a lot of the time wondering where he was, and if he was going to show up to see us. He usually did, but not as much as we would have liked. He seemed a little torn about what he should be doing, and didn't usually choose to be here, unfortunately. I think a lot of that is normal for a almost 22 year old, but it didn't make for a lot of face to face time with him, which is sad for my Mom's heart. I enjoyed what time we were given, though, and we enjoyed a couple of family outings and several meals together. He knows he's chosen a different path than all of his other friends, but I think those differences really started to sink in on this visit. We talked about that issue, and I know it really affected him while he was here. None of his friends are doing anything with their lives (some are not even working, let alone going to college)....and he finds that very upsetting......however, that should not have stopped him from sharing more of his leave with us, and I plan to cover that topic (in a very non-confrontational way) in a letter to him soon. He is a man, who can make his own decisions, but his family needs to have a little more of his attention when he is in the position to give it.
Thanks for your concern for me on May 25th...yes, that is the day he left, and yes, it was very hard to say goodbye again....I don't think I'll ever get good at it. We will not see him again until at least Christmas time, if then....and our communication will be very limited due to deployment the majority of that time. And then, my hubbie whisked me away for a few days at Destin, Florida, for some rays and r&r, which were much needed by both of us. We had time to download all we had experienced with Martin during his visit, and also enjoy the sand, surf and sun of Florida, so it was kind of medicinal! I decided I've done better with the whole "missing him while he's halfway across the planet" thing, than the "missing him while he's in Louisville, and choosing to be somewhere other than home" thing. He made it back to Hawaii safe and sound, and is preparing to leave in a couple of weeks. Today, we are just getting back home, unpacking and getting ready for the work week to crank back up tomorrow. (Yuck)
Congrats to Cory on his deployment too!....OMG....with the Seals...shut my mouth! How exciting! Hope you have heard from him by now. Our guys have such awesome opportunities ahead of them, Julie. We really do have a lot to be proud of. I'd love to hear about how it all goes for him....I get goosebumps just thinking about it. Martin is interested in special ops, but hasn't had that opportunity yet.
Now, I need to figure out how to change the name of this page....thanks for your support, and I'll talk with you soon!
Hi Julie, thanks for the kind words. My son is trying to redesignate so I guess you can say he's undesignated right now. I'm not sure what all this means either. We have heard so many rumors-if you try to redesignate you will be out of the navy due to budget demands, too many sailors so you are out, no need more people, etc. What can you tell me??
haha, yeah, but we had everything worked out and we were back together before i knew about "buzz"...that's what were calling him right now. :)
george should be home around july 11. i'm trying to get a buddy pass to fly out there and SUPPRISE him for his homecoming. or you know, just show up at his doorstep. i'm really excited.
don't worry about cory. he's just fine. promise.
o yeah! i think i'm due in december. i go to the doctor right before i fly out on tuesday.
Yup! George and I got everything straightened out. they say a baby changes everything....lol. i guess that's my official announcment that i'm expecting. :) We couldn't be happier!
I got to talk to him last night...he seems to be having a good time in Cuba, although in the message he left me on sunday he sounded especially lonely. but he's gotten to do a lot of neat stuff so far, and i hope he's enjoying it. i miss him a lot. we only got to talk for about 20 minutes.
Julie,
Yes, I am very proud of my son. On this deployment, he did not take his computer. He uses the one on the ship. I would watch the papers for sales because the price of them has drastically dropped from when I first purchased Ryan's. He needed it for school so that he could continue it on the ship. Stay strong.
Hi Julie,
Hope your week is going well so far. Here is the web address for the place where I got the free banner.

I'm planning on hosting a Navy Moms/Dads get together this summer at my place in P.V. Do you think August would be a good time to do it?
Talk to you soon! Have a great day!
