How are you doing? I'm anxious to be able to see my son sometime soon! How about you? To them it probably seems like time just crawls. To me it seems sometimes like it flew by and sometimes it took forever to go by!
Hello Kellypen, I read your post your son was in Africa for deployment is he still there? My son is also getting ready to deploy to Africa have so many questions may qustions.. If you wouldn't mind would you please tell me what were you able to send him? How long was he there? I just have all these feelings and feel so sad he'll be gone for the holidays.
how long have they been gone? you must be so excited to have him back on "home ground" What is the batallion like? How many are in it? What do they do? What is Gulfport Mississippi like? Sorry for all the questions just wanting to learn as much as I can. Does the navy for mom's have a "group" for NMCB11?
Hi, my son graduates A school in Missouri on Aug 14th and has been assigned to NMCB11 homeport of Gulfport Mississippi. Do you have any information on this batallion? I understand they will be coming home in August? That is great news and then they will be stateside for a bit?
I was just reading your blog. I lost my mom in Goodyear, AZ (near Phoenix) Dec. 07. Derek was out on a short det on the Reagan and the Red Cross got him home for me. I learned a lot about myself and really grew after losing my mom. She was one of my best friends so it's been hard but I had to get something positive out of it and so I did.

I believe they have a fully-dressed in fatigues Seabee bear at the museum gift shop. Hi Kelleypen, thanks for responding about my question on the Seabee group. My son has been in for 6 years and may have to crossrate in order to reenlist due to his rate being so full. He would like to have someone to email with just to get a feel for the kind of situations they face. He's married with a son and doesn't want to have to move them overseas. He's been deployed 4 times already on a carrier so he's used to being gone for 6 months at a time. I know he would enjoy the job of CM but I don't think he will like the conditions compared to what he's had so far. How long has your son been in? how old is he? is he married? Just hoping to find someone that can give Derek a feels for it. Thank you!
I have a build a bear dressed like my son. He isn't a bear....my son is a "ginger", red hair and blue eyes. I bought the orange cat before he went to boot camp and had him record a saying in the paw. That way when I was lonely for him I could hear his voice. When Derek was in boot camp, the cat, "Lil Derek" wore dress whites. When Derek graduated from "A" School, I changed him to cammies and purchased an olive drab patch from the Seabee Museum store. Yes Mandy is in the 11. We were hoping she was going to stay in spain but that only lasted a couple weeks. She had a good time there. She was old enough to drink while she was there.
