Yolanda,

My daughter, Sara, teaches at a private school in Huntington Beach. She graduated from Vanguard University in Costa Mesa in 2005 and got her teaching credentials from there in 2006. She is working on her Masters in Education, also at Vanguard. I miss having her near by, but she loves living in CA.

Sorry to hear of the trouble Jered had getting home. It was probably due to the very wet snow storm we have had along with rain. My daughter flies Frontier all the time from OC to DEN and has not mentioned any problems. I flew United once to OC and they lost my luggage. When I fly Frontier the plane got a cracked windshield on the way into DEN and I got a free flight out of it. Hope Gil is doing well.

Hey Yolanda, Hows it going. Have you gotten to talk to Gil much lately? Amber has made a lot of friends and is really adjusting well. I wish I was adjusting as well as she is!

Yes we will make plans once she knows when or if she will be able to come home before shipping off. Talked to her tonight and she sounds like she is really happy! She has made some friends and one of the girls is from Fillmore not to far from here! Her dog is missing her almost as much as I am. But..... I am excited for her new adventure.

Hi Yolando, My son Derek just arrived in Groton on Wed. for BEES, the A school for Sonar Tech. His PIR was also 3/20. He was in Ship 07, Div. 133. My husband and I will be visiting him tomorrow, Sunday. I can't wait to see him again. Even though it's only been a week. We live in MA, so we are only a little over 2 hours away. We will be bringing him a TV, X-Box, cell phone etc. I have heard that BEES and ST school will take about 1 year from my son. But a lot of other people are saying it will be about 18 months. So, I'm not sure how long. But I am so glad to have him so close to home, I hope it is 18 months. He will be able to start coming home weekends once he gets his green card (or is it blue) I forget. Talk to you later.

Yolanda, so glad to see you leave a post today. I was trying to find you so I could congratulate you and tell you how fun it was to meet at Flannigans. How's things going since a week has passed? I went thru the crying thing again for several days, but since I am able to finally start communicating with Grady, I'm doing much better. Anyway, so glad to have had the special privilege of meeting you. Wish I could say our boys were together. Keep in touch. Janie

No call, but did get a letter on 2/27. Sounds like they are very busy. Today is gas chamber day. Yolanda, visit the Ship 6 Div 917 group. You will find out lots of good info from others' letters and stuff regarding activity with the 917. We all post when we hear from our kids and seems like they all write a little something that the others haven't. Helps to pass the time.

I am from Illinois. About 60 to 65 miles south of Great Lakes. The weather here is very cold and windy today. forecast is for temps to get to the 40 and 50's with rain. I am hoping for 50's for PIR but it could just as easy be 20's and heavy snow So be prepared for anything when you come to Chicago!
Glad to meet you and best of Luck to you and your son. What Flag will he have, do you know?

Hello Yolanda! My son, Brett is in the 917 too! Did you know that the 917 has it's own group on N4M? Check it out! Is Gil carrying a state flag for PIR? My son is a drummer and will be in the drumline. I can't wait for 3/13.

Hi Yolanda, thank you so much for your advice and comforting words. This is exactly what I need to hear...that is something common that can happen to our young boys, not that something is wrong with Chris. He is only 18 so I think he might not have been prepared enough. He just got out of my wings. I know God will walk him through this. Thanks again and God Bless You too.
