Hello Sandra, I haven't emailed you in awhile. We have Hans home on leave until April 1 for a total of 20 days. He is going to the USS Essex out of Japan. He is an E-3 and a yeoman. This will be different as he is used to being home. He has lived away from home working in the summer but not out of the country for 2-3 years. I homeschooled Hans from 2nd grade through high school so we are used to him being around. I know he is apprehensive about being overseas. I 'm sure once he gets use to Japan, he'll enjoy seeing new places.
Hello Sandra, Well Hans has received verbal orders for Japan and on a ship! He is awaiting the written orders. He is halfway throught his classes for yeoman. We had a great visit with him in Meridian Ms over Valentine Day through President's Day. I am so glad we went to visit him. He will get 3 weeks leave at home and then be flown to Japan. What a change! He went to boot camp in November, A School in January, and now Japan in April. My father was stationed in Japan after WW2 with my mom. My mother was 7 months pregnant with me when they came home. lol
Hi, I'm a new Navy Mom from Terre Haute. My son reported to Great Lakes yesterday. My first husband was in the army, not a career man, and we were stationed in Germany for 3 yrs., so I am familiar with Army, but am sure things have changed over the years, that was in '68, '69, and'70, I am 10 yrs. older than you.. I have three children, none home schooled, I work as a Multimedia Asst. at a middle school. There is an event in Indy March 14th. My son wants to make a career of the Navy, he is 23, and I figured I may as well get involved as much as I can, so am going to attend. I'm sure you have your hands full, but if you need to talk at least I am right here in TH. Blessings....Jackie
hi jason is still in the great lakes = appears to be on hold due to a school beinf full or backed up . but atleast he is there with alot of the other guys so is adjusting ok. finally did his classes for leave and such so now has phone and sent regular clothes to him and gets to go out on pass this weekend with friends. guess life is a little boring for him right now - mostly just has to clean room and then do some watches so spends alot of time watching tv playing pool and cards = such the life . keep in touch
hi there - was so good to finally meet you at the pir. how are things going for you? did micheal make it to his a school yet and all settled in? jason is still in great lakes on "hold" for his a school - he thinks he might have to stay there a few months guess the school area bit backed up - even the recruiter told me that - guess they have more people iin right now than they have room for school . p;ease keep in touch and let me know how micheal is doing
Hi Sandra, I saw Michael's photo. He is very handsome. I need to figure out how to add photos of Hans. In my photo to the side Hans is the the tall guy on the right with the dark hair. We will see Hans in Meridian Ms over President's Day weekend. Heidi and I are baking Valentine goodies for Hans and his room mate. I need to go as Heidi has a Spanish class in town at 2:00.
my son will be in the great lakes for 2 months, kathys son jason was bunk mates with my son in bc,I did get to meet her,and it's alright to be confused.Tyson is my son name ,And Kathys son Is Jason they sound alike.
hi there i'm sorry for the long delay in responding to your question, but i haven't checked my page in quite som time . As for my son Sampson he's doin quite well i must say other than bein a little bored at times and shopping i believe he's in the right place as far as the WARS is concerned. I thank-God everyday that he is not in some other places like Aphganistan, or Iraq so for the most part he's ok i talk to him practically everyday it seems like he's on vacation instead of bein in the Navy. Only thing i don't like about him bein in Japan is that it cost so much to go there and for him to come home. Overall i hear Japan is the best place for sailors to be only 4 people out of his division got to go. Thanks for your your Prayers & thoughts of my son. all we can do as parents is to continue to love, support and pray for our children and trust that they make the right decisions in life and trust God to see them thru God-Bless you
Hi ,Well i guess he made it buy the comments on your page,Our phone call came on thursday about 4:30 and we were already in the gl at this time,so all I have to say is thank God that is over and they all grauduated. It was great seeing him and we have a great week end,We did't make to the meet and greet ,we were pretty tired, seeing we got up at three in the mourning and traveled all day.Well I am happy everything worked out well for you.
Thanx for sharing the great news about your son with me! Since neither you nor I got calls today, guess it is safe to bet our kids are going tonight. Who knows, maybe our sons will be working together at some point. Do you remember reading that some groups are not going until Thurs night? I hope not. I am already just a total nervous wreck. You? I can't even imagine teaching tomorrow, but I'm sure I'll find a way to manage. The kids will probably just assume I am in my "absent minded teacher" mode again : )
Oh Sandra that is great news! I am so happy for you! We know if God got Michael through his swimming and everything else he'll past Battlestations. We didn't hear from Hans until 4:30 Central Time. He did his on a Wed. and we received the call on Thurs. Enjoy your new Sailor and his PIr.
l know the feeling of lost = especially with all the bad weather - hate driving in snow - got to spoiled living intexas all those years and havent gotten my winter weather courage back since we moved here to oregon= am still planning on flying in on thursday but taking a shuttle - dont want to drive in the cold and snow = didnt realize how spendy it was going to be but am willling to bite the bullet for a chance to see hm - my youngest and i i really miss him - we have aslway had a strong realationship
thank you for the input on battlestations = i sure hope it is tonight as i would hate to have them do it wed night - then they would be so tired for the pir = keeping fingers crossed = has micheal done ok with everthing else? know you were concerned withthe swimming part ?
Hi Sandra,
I will be so very happy to ask about your son if I even get "the call"! I am not sure if/how many calls they will be allowed (I've read that even THAT call is earned!) and my son will have three people to call or choose from if he is only allowed one or two---his girlfriend, his dad, or me. So...if he calls ME I will ask him. Also-you mention that your son is in DIV088, mine's DIV 086---do you know that they will be going thru BS at the same time? And is that tonight or Wed night for sure? Yikes! Here we go!!!
I know that there is a way to e-mail each other 'cause a mom emailed me to exchange last names of our kids--but she emailed me, so I don't know how to do that yet. Do you know how to do that? If so, you can email me your son's last name and I'll do the same : )
Hi Sandra,
yeah, it was me who mentioned the 'same color' idea : ) I was really passing on an idea one of my friends gave to me. She has been a big support for me these last 8 weeks--her son joined the Coast Guard and went thru their boot camp 3 years ago. I was not aware that we will be sitting in groups by divisions already--so I love the idea of all us Navy4Moms moms dress in red. : ) So....I am guessing either tomorrow night or Wed night for our guys. I am going to bed early tonight to get a good night's sleep then : )
Sandra I am doing fine. We heard from Hans last Sunday and he is doing well. I renewed my cell phone contract, got a new phone for a penny, and went with a national plan. I mailed Hans' phone so he can call home. I miss seeing and talking to my son. If it works out for us we will go to visit Hans over Valentine weekend. My husband will be off work on President's Day which is on Feb. 16. I know you are looking forward to your son's PIR.
That's true you can only have 5 people in a room at Navy Lodge and since it's a discounted military rate you wouldn't want to try to break the rules there (anywhere else would be fine just not there). Drive safely.
