Thank you very much for all of the information it helps a lot. I am now really worried about how long it will take my sweet husband to class up. I miss him terribly and I don't want to be away from him any longer. If I move there do you know if he can come and stay with me since we are married or is it still only weekends for the married guys?
Thank you so much for your very helpful answer! I could only find one place online that says how long A school for that is and it said that it was 96 days. That is also the same place his recruiter got the information. I received a letter from my husband the other day saying that it was only 8 weeks. So it is for sure only 8 weeks then? Thank you so much you are all so wonderful!

Hey Mimi its been awhile, thought I beter check in on you. How are things? Was shopping on line and the have Bradly shirts discounted wanted to know if you want me to send you one?? I asked my daughter if she wanted one for X-mas . her response was "is that a joke?" Hope all is well with you and your family. Jas is doing well in Lemoore, hard to believe hes been gone a year already!!Will Mitch get to come home for Xmas this year? Mine won't be home until March, gotta get you to the no holiday thing I guess. :( Take care and the Ricketts will bring us some new men in 2010 to bring us the world series ship!!!
Thanks, My son had been down to meps 4 times before a job come avaialble, he scored 73 on his test so it wasn't like he had to pick the bottom of the barrell, but he was presured on his 4th time and finally signed. His recruit told him that if he keep refusing jobs then his chief would not want him. All of this just makes me sick!
Wow! Mimi I am much more excited after getting your email about the tree ideas. You are a God send to us all. I guess I have some shopping to do. Thanks!
Thank you for your thoughful and though provoking note - yes, the truth is often in the middle. The group will stay open. Come and join us whenever you can - read or add a few thoughts. I would like to hear more from you.

For summer the hotel rates go up. Right now with the financial problems here in PR they should have better rates...I guess.

Thanks for the info Mimi. Alex has to fly from Fresno CA to Chicago IL so I will try and see what I can get. I just thought someone would have a military discount.

I like the journey song too, my hubbie listens to journey in the car when we take a long drives also like the queen song we will rock you! i hear that song at school the gym teacher has some cool music, sure wish when i went to school our teacher played music like that. I have my after program in the gym so I hear great songs everyday, he loves old rock songs and it seems the kids like it too! when that song who let the dogs out goes on they all go nuts LOL well thanks for sharing your music!! have a great nite Mimi!
She called this afternoon and has made FRIENDS...and is so happy now, said that they were possibly going to let her work in the Gym,she asked us to try and find her some black cushoned boot socks...any idea where? Also they are out of the Navy Blue T's that go under the Cami's...could I find those...I thought thet had all that at the NEX,is that where Mitch gets his stuff?
OK now what are you going to do about this Babe with a babe??? Why can't our Kids let us pick out their mates....sure would make life a hell nof a lot easier for us all> I know my oldest in Alabama has really picked some losers, the latest is 7 years younger with a 4 year old who ran over his Mother (accident) and left her paralyzed from the neck down,B/4 him it was a divorced surgeon with 6 kids under 12,that was a 3 year stretch, before that one it was a drummer in a big rock band...SJ has been pretty good about guys, I think she has seen her sister screw up so badly.Well off to bed...the Zoo was a nightmare, they gave me a little college girl to help me today and damn if she didn't fall asleep,so I just left her,she appoligized and then said around1030 am ,she felt dirty and shw wanted to go take a shower so she left and came back at 12:00 intime for lunch, after lunch I gave her a list of things to do and she says well I usually have a little time to study on the weekends,so I politely said,if you need to study, please just clock out and study on your time not the Zoo's...she did her list and I am sure she will not want to work with me again, tomorrow,I plan to have her put on Waders and get the $ out of the duck pond, that'll get her dirty enough for a shower.I don't have patients for lazy kids, Later, Sue
Hi Mimi,
I read your post on the Oceana group about a list of hotels in and around Va Beach that give discounts to military families. We are planning on going for the airshow in October and looking into places to stay. I would love that list if you could send it to me ASAP. We are thinking of staying at a hotel on the beach which if I understand correctly is only about 2 miles from the beach. Is that correct? Do you think that will be a problem with traffic getting to/from the airshow? My daughter says that when she went to the Pensacola airshow this spring 2-3 miles translated to hours of traffic. UGH. Any information would be VERY helpful as my daughter just got to Oceana a few weeks ago and doesn't know that much about this base yet either. Thanks in advance! Patty
Mimi...I just read your latest post and girl I do believe we are soul mates...we have an older daughter who is 36 and here came Sammie Joe (Navy Barbie) when her sister was 16 and they both think they are only children ...now our Stephanie (oldest) tells us how we have spoiled SJ and didn't her and she turned out great(Divorced with 2 children)...SJ has really tried our love and understanding these last 2 years (18 - 20),was the perfect kid class president, cheerleader, swimteam, tennis team, starred in all kinds on theater productions,Dorothy.Wof Oz---Alice In through the Looking Glass-Grease-42nd Street-Chicago-Gypsy (last Summer)...did summer stock since she was 8 yrs old...get the picture, was given dance, voice piano, guitar, acting lessons for years and somehow now that I look back I am positive I spoiled her but I thought I was giving her opportunities, the majic life was great (We thought) until first year of college we insisted she go to where her Dad teaches for 2 years she wanted to be a Nurse and do Community Theater...well we paid all the tuitions/books and thought she was doing well...and girlfriend she just did't go to school...when grades came in Dec. she had all incompletes...so we tuffed up and said OK get a job in a Nursing Home (CNA) and work til next Fall and then you pay for school, well she worked 3rd shift, slept all day and came the summer she begged to go back to school so we said OK you pay for it and she did for part-time in the summer and she lifeguarded at the club and taught tennis lessons for the city...then fall came and she goes to registration and comes home and says ...I was standing in line to register for Nursing and I saw the line for Photography and thought that would be fun...so she began the Phot. Program and we spent a fortune on books,equioment...she had to have it all...that lasted maybe until October ...and she found it was not her thing she would switch back to Nursing in the winter, but it doesn't work that way,oh we thought she was going to school...but she was actually shopping all day while we were at work...she charged over 28,000 in 18 months living under our roof and we were to dumb to see it....shoes-purses-hair products Itunes-zi-pods,sunglasses (she had 3 pairs of non perscription sunglasses that cost over $150. each ...I get mine at the $ store.Concert tickets-dinner at fine restaurants for her friend...get the picture...I could go on and last summer I said this ride is over and I took her to the Navy Recruiter and said ..here she is and after talking to them, she came home and said that's what I need in my life and inlisted the next day,and in the DEP Program for almost a year-worked part-time as a Bayota Nurse until she left,we had to payy off all of her credit cards so she went in debt free and my biggest fear is she will get more credit cards or just go crazy again....beside the credit cards she would take my checks out of my check book(I never balance my CK Book) and spend 100's at Walmart and sign my name and this was right up until she left for boot Camp...so many Mom's are missing their precious kids...I hate to say it ...but I sleep so much better knowing she is in GLakes and not here lying to me about where she got this and that...last night while changing her dust ruffle on her bed I found a recipt for $$175.00 for books at Books A Million and it said it was paid by check...she doesn't have a checkbook,I have become a real detective in this past year and she still gets past me...oh I saw the books, she was reading and she said a friend had given them to her...this was 2 weeks b/4 she left and oh the weekend before she left it was a trip to Charleston SC to check out the base for 3 days for 3 friends all put on my husbands Visa card ...I know I have rambled on ..but if you think you have a problem with Mitch...honey it's nothing to what we have went through and I am so afraid it isn't over....my best friend said at least she doesn't drink and do drugs...I don't know...it's the lying and stealing I just can't deal with....We are hoping she can get it together, yes we did have her tested by 2 different Doctors and they say she is just spoiled or thinks she deserves anything she wants.I think it must be something we have done to make her this way...enough said ...back to packing/cleaning...her room is done and the door shut so I don't have to find anything else ...I bought....Make a Great Day...Suzi
I agree with the organ donor part! I can't see Alex on a motorcycle!!! I contacted a couple more moms out there and they say he really can't survive on that base without a car so I guess I will have to get one out to him. I keep flip flopping because I believe as you have stated that it will be asking for trouble! But, I guess I will have to continue to warn him and lose sleep at night for an additional reason! When they want to know what is best for these kids I guess they will put us moms in charge of base transportation!!!!!
okay, by a bike, do you mean motorcycle or a bicycle? I feel the same way you do. The moms on that webpage are not that friendly but they said he will need a car. But I feel it will get him into trouble too!
Mimi thanks again for all the info on vegas. I didn't think about halloween being a big deal in vegas! Oh well, I will start looking around soon. Alex called and needs a car desperately in California so I will probably be making a trip out there next week. I love these unplanned visits. He is struggling because he is working nights and the buses don't run and he hates depending on someone who may make him late.
Actually she is the jinx she was at last nites game. Dempster was sucking up the field!!
I would have pitch hit him when the bses were loaded. What do I know thou?? LOL
I am going tomorrow we'll see what happens. Jason is doing really good in Lemoore,
much better than when he first got there. Got a great eval. and was very happy.
We had a good visit with him just wish he had more time off, while we were there.
Cubs play L.A. at the end of Aug and considereing sending Jason tickets for the game. What do you think???
