Hi Mo,
Last Monday we had our first call from Ben. He had a cold but was also recovering from having his wisdom teeth pulled the Friday before/. I have heard that the sickness is quite normal and they do get over it. We also made plane reservations and saved lots of money by flying into Milwaukee rather than to Chicago. But our flight stops in Chicago first. (Go figure). We also have nothing in our grad packet that indicates if Ben is grad and go so we will have to play it by ear.
Martha
I completely understand that letters just don't cut it all the time. I really wish that they could just call home more often. It'd really help with trying to figure out plans for PIR, such as who is going, whether or not they are grad and go, etc. Ah well.
Don't worry too much about them getting sick - my husband said that everyone was sick or getting sick, and my friend's fiance who went through boot camp earlier this summer said that everyone was sick (including himself), but it shouldn't cause too many problems for the recruits, other than being uncomfortable. If your recruit were sick with anything serious, you would be informed. They mostly just come down with a cold, though.
Mo,
Yes, Ben is graduating on 10/31. We are planning to go. Flying out of Burlington on Thurs. afternoon. We are staying at the Residence Inn Waukegan.
Maybe we will meet up somewhere.

Mo,
I just a letter from my son,Ben, today saying another guy from Vermont was in his division. I believe it may be your son?? He didn't give his name but they are in ship 12 Triton Div.415. There can't be too many guys from Vermont, right.? I hope to hear from you.
Martha

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. It's been a rough week to say the least. Shane left for BC on September 8th. Although I know that this is a good thing for him....I miss him terribly. I've been writing to him every day but today I received a form letter saying it was from Shane but it wasn't his handwriting so I'm a bit concerned. It also had a different mailing address from the one that his recruiter sent me so....that's another thing...I'm hoping that my letters and cards are getting to him....
Anyways, Shane is going to be an ABE. Avionics Boatswain Electrician/Engineer. He will be working on the the airplanes on aircraft carriers.
Have you heard from your son yet? If so, I hope he is ok. Well please stay in touch and I will do the same. Hope to connect in WRJ sometime along the way.
