How exciting Mary! And what a great place to be. Hopefully I'll be stopping by there later this summer on my way to SD on a Tiger Cruise. Keep your fingers crossed I make the roster!
AWWWW...can I go with you when you visit him??? How exciting. What ship will he be on??
Stephen is leaving tomorrow. He actually has spent alot more time with me than I expected. He had a list of all of his favorite foods that he wanted me to cook while he was home. I even had to make him a Pumpkin Pie. LOL
Matt said he doesn't know Nick, he really doesn't look for any orders until Oct. said he will be surprised if he gets them sooner. I'm also feeling Norfolk, all the STG that he is friends with are going to Norfolk. But they are also 4yo so with Matt being a 6yo I don't know if that will make a difference. And yes, his feels that a destroyer will be in his future.
Today is my birthday. Its a little sad this year. My boys always have crab cook out for me, Just the family and this year I am short 2 boys. It just won't be the same. How time changes everything.
Mary --
What fun to meet you tonight! MCPON West is the nicest man! Hope the trip home was ok. Your friend was so nice, too. You may talk her into the Navy yet!
I was talking about you last night. Were your ears burning? Matt called and we were talking about Nick and how maybe someday they would be on the same ship. And how they are moving up in rank at the same pace. He ask Nicks last name. Hope you don't mind. That is the only way he would know him. Nick just doesn't cut it with them. Matt agrees, that they just may end up together. He really thinks he is headed for VA. But no orders yet.
Found a R/T for $210. I would have left here at 7am. :(
Thank Nick for me, if you hadn't come home over Memorial Day and you hadn't taken pictures I wouldn't have gotten the chance to see your new walls!
Thank you for the warm Mary. I do hope your right and as he goes he'll pass on the info. My corpsman son is really good at keeping me updated. Thanks again. Kim
Yea. we all have slowed down over the years. That is what age will do for you. But we aren't there yet. We still have a lot of kicking years left. I haven't been to a concert in years. I think its about time. I've been into the outdoors kind of thing. Biking, Kayaking, Hiking. Trying to get back in some kind of shape. I'm turning 49 this week. One more year until the down hill run starts. The big 50. I guess you could look at it as I am hitting my peak. Some how I don't feel at the top of my game.
So how was the concert??? I bet you had a great time. What a wonderful Mother Day gift.
Yes, time will tell where and when the guys will go. Just have to sit and wait. Matt has plans but I think he will do fine no matter were he goes. Yes, he made some close friends, but he know those friends will come and go. They can't all be together forever. I can't believe how close Nick and Matt are in their moving up in rank, Matt should get E4 around the 1st of July. Strange two strangers together by their mothers. Funny how the world works. Maybe one day they will meet and talk about us. LOL
Wow, that is great. Do you know what job Kellie's husband will be doing on the ship??
Stephen is having a great time. I am surprised how much time he is spending with me. (His girlfriend has school and work) We had a big family and friend barbecue for him today so he could see everyone.
Thank you and please thank Nick for all the info you have given Matt on Dahlgren. Matt will be calling on Wednesday morning to arrange a duty driver. I think you guys have likely saved him a lot of money and time!!! what we do without you!!!
He will also be looking into the honor guard program you talked about. Sounds right up his alley, he really wants to outshine in his career and take the fast track. He is very proud of his naval acheivements so far and wants to continue the good work. I love that he has goals and milestones to aim for.
It's be great having him home, but I think hes just antsy to get " on with it" I think he is going to really enjoy C school, as its more hands on and thats the kind of guy Matt is. I dont think he's able to relax because he's not use to not having a timetable to follow. I think he is one that really benefits from the structure of navy life. But that being said, hes had a great time here and although hes been out with friends, he has definately spent more time this trip at home compared to Xmas break. Its been great and i'm certainly gonna be sobbing (AGAIN!) on Wednesday.
Matt called the other night. All his friends are going to VA. some leave next month. So the plan is for him to also go to VA, even though its not his first pick, Although he told me STG don't get a wish list unless they are first in the class. He was in A-school but down by a point in C-school. So he feels he is bound for VA. They all have big plans to get together and share a house when they all get settled. John hopes to join them. Funny how things change from day to day. I'm happy they will be close to home. I will see them more then if they are both on the west coast. So that puts a big smile on momma's face. Time will tell, you know how things change in the Navy world.
Hey Mary, Ryan has duty this weekend and is glad for the new schedule. Its different than GL because it does not include FRI and the section after him will just skip a day in the rotation and not have to move to Mon. Still planning on finishing up mid Oct but you never know. Hope all is well with you and your family!
