HI Karen,
My name is Laurlyn Hunt and you sent me a really nice message in April of this year and I wanted to first apologize for just now getting back to you. I really didn't go on Navy moms until just recently. I did join back in march of this year after my son left but have been having a hard time with him gone and some other personal stuff. So I do apologize for the late reply. I do hope we can be friends and I hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Karen,
I had no idea that it had been so long since I was last on but apparently it has. Since my initial intro., my son has graduated from boot camp and was one of eight nominated for an academic achievement. He is in corpsman school now and is to graduate on Dec. 11th. Next he is going to FMBT at Camp Penndelton. After that he will be assigned to Pensicola, FL and "farmed out" to the 3rd Force Recon Marine Unit in Mobile, AL. That's where his brother who was a Marine was stationed before he was killed. Jacob is very excited but of course, I'm a bit nervous. He seems to really be shinning and is happy which is all that I could and should really ask for.
Thank you so much for the welcome! i am new to the computer, believe it or not, and am rather slow making my way around this site!Iam so thankful for all the moms here.Brian is also giong in the Nuclear Sub field and ships out for boot camp Nov.23.Thanksgiving and Christmas wont be the same, but I know how excited he is and want to support him .Still trying to figure out how to post more pictures.I'll practice!
Sorry for taking so long My job keeps me pretty busy My sailor is a teacher of Proto type and has decided to ask to be put on a submarine. I do not know how much I can tell on here but I know he is closed mouth about what he does. If I could get some instruction as to how and what is allowed that would help me in conveying what is within bounds .
First I would like to aplogize for taking so long to respond back to you. Thank you so much for welcoming me. I just recently had a chance to really stop and learn about the site. I have posted many pictures of our daughter and our family, I hope you enjoyed them. I would like to be involved in some events in the Charleston, S.C. area. We are so proud of our daughter serving the country. How is your son doing? We hope and pray that all is well with him and also you. Please email me back. God Bless You and Thanks again.
Thanks for the warm welcome. I haven't logged on in a while, I was waiting to hear whether my son Ashley would be accepted for OCS, which we just heard yesterday. We're so happy and excited; it's bittersweet since this is the longest that he'll be away, but it's for a good reason. He should be leaving for OCS in early 2010. Carole
Can you believe how the Nuke Mom page has grown? I went to a meet and greet a couple of weeks ago up in Bloomington, IL. One of the recruiters had not heard of the page, and was amazed at how well we all knew each other. He was going to tell his mother about this site after talking with us wild parents.
I went and visited my sailor's recruiter today with a Halloween package. He was in his full dress blues with ribbons, as he had just returned from re-enlisting. Year 15 for him now. I am waiting for the day when it will be the same for our sailor.
Hi Karen, Just wanted to add a comment about the candy to the troops, while it is a great idea, lots of unwrapped, loose candy gets shipped, some have even rec'd candy with a bite taken out it. Mabye the group that is in charge is watching? Would you give your kids opened candy from a complete stranger? I am also on another site that supports the troops and they say its a nitemare when the troops get leftover candy. No way to know if it was tampered with so they have to trash it all. Just passing it along to you.
Hey Karen. I was perusing a mag from Aug. at work during my lunch break and saw your smiling face on a NavyForMoms ad. Had to tell I co-worker I "knew" you!

Hi still learning the ropes here, but my son graduated boot camp 10/16/2009 and is waiting to go to sub school. I guess I will learn all about that and how long everything takes for sub school.
Thanks Karen, My son is going to be a cook. He really accepted the first job that came available. Trying out for the seals now. I think I could handle the cook better. Just waiting to leave in February. They had there winter Olympic's yesterday. He took 1st in every event. He even makes me do push-ups with him now. Let's just say I don't need Jenny Craig anymore. Thanks so much for your email.
Hi Karen........thank you for your message way back when. I've looked on the site only a couple of times.........I seem to spend any free moment sending my son letters and jokes and newspaper articles other than get online. I work, take care of my 14 year old daughter and well, that about sums me up. I am so excited to see him graduate on Nov 6th from bootcamp. He has asked me in a recent letter to get onto this site and try to meet his new friends' moms. So, here I am. I have no idea how to do this. Could you give me some advice. Thank you again. I can't wait to see my son again. I'm super proud of him.
