Thank you Karen for the warm welcome! I am a little bit of a fish in new waters so to speak! I am the mom of an Army Sgt. who is presently in Iraq. I figure a military mom, is a military mom...hope you all feel the same. My friend Paula and I have written two children's books that adapt to all branches , and has special stickers to make it Navy! We are hoping to be of help to parents and kids in regard to deployment and reunion. Thanks for inviting me as part of your group!
Hello Karen and thanks for your welcome. What a family you have. You must be so proud and I'm proud of you for raising such a patriotic family. My son is just talking to recruiters now, but I have been prepared for this since he was very small. Even then there were lots of little boys in my yard soluting my son. He went to Navy Sea Cadets at age 12 and graduated at age 18 as chief. He has set his sites on Seal Training. As a Mom I probably would not have chosen soldiering for my son, but I know that it is the call on his life, so who am I to argue with the One who created him for His purposes. My prayers are with your children and all our children that have chosen to serve our county. Gail
Karen,
Thanks so much for the welcome note. I am so new at this Navy stuff I can use all the friends I can get! I am not real techy so any help you all can give me will be greatly appreciated! I'm a brand new Navy mom as my son ships out next weekend. I will have lots of questions I am sure! I have no idea how to post pictures, but should have some fun ones after our farewell party this weekend! My son will be moving from WA state to Illinois for his boot camp and training school. It will be a big change for us all! Thanks for your support!

Thank you for the warm and heart felt welcome. It is my boyfriends son who has inlisted. He is currently in Pensacola Fl. for schooling then he will be assigned a post. The class kept getting pushed back so we are not sure when we will get to see him. We only had a 1/2 hour to 45 mins with him because he had to leave the same day for A school. Hope I'm saying that right. I will post pictures as soon as I can. He has informed us that he has classed up on Monday to AO ordinance. We are so proud of him.
Thank you for the welcome! I know this will be a great comfort to connect with all of you who love your children and support the decisions they make in life. Our pride and joy will shine as we share our stories and thoughts. I look forward to becoming a proud parent of a Sailor.
Blessings

Thank you for the welcome. I just happened to find out about this site. My daughter joined the navy after graduating from high school in June, 2001. Her bootcamp started Sept 10, 2001. She has been out on the Carl Vinson for 9 months going to such places and Hawaii, Guam, Australia, Korea, Hong Kong. She has received her Associates degree and preparing to return for her Bachelor's.
Thank you for your warm welcome. My daughter is waiting to leave for boot camp on 9/28. I am very proud of her. I know she will do very well in whatever she takes on in her life. I would like to know if anyone has any ideas on how to handle her leaving when the time comes because as much as I am proud, I know that when it's time for her to leave, I will have anxiety and I know I will shed some tears.
Greetings Karen!
thank you for sending such a nice note.
it's sunday eve and i had to catch up on some jet lag.
oh my goodness, it was such an awsome time seeing our young adults graduate. i look at them and think..wow look how fast they grow.
so thankful. time to do a little cleaning around here. so i will chat later.
Thank you for the warm welcome. I stumbled onto this website on accident, but I'm glad I signed up. My boyfriend is approaching week 4 of boot camp. I believe he's going to be a Nuke. I heard the schooling is intense and there's a lot of studying involved. I'm proud of him and very supportive, but sometimes I get the "separation blues". I miss him a lot and July can't get here fast enough. Sometimes I feel fine, but other times I feel really sad. I wonder how some people deal with this. I guess I'm just not use to it. we've never been separated like this before. As of right now I have his picture as my phone and computer background. I guess it helps me. If there is any advice or tips you can give me I'd appreciate it greatly. Thanks again for the warm welcome.
Thank you so much for making me feel so welcome! I have to say that I'm surprised at myself and am so grateful I have found this website. My initial reaction to my daughters news was that of pride and support, I am still proud and supportive but cannot believe the wave of "separation anxiety" that has come over me in the past couple days since she told me. I feel like my heart is breaking a bit more every day and already aches like she's gone..... how do you ladies deal with this and PLEASE if you have any pointers on how to keep strong I would appreciate any tips you can give me!!
Karen, I am a Navy Grandmom from Oklahoma. You were the first to greet
me when I joined N4M. My grandson is in A school now, since January. My
recollection is that it should be nearing the end now and will go into Power
School next. Is there a break between them? He has never been good about
staying in touch. The letters from Boot Camp spoiled me. I understand that
Nuke school is very intense so I'm not worrying about his welfare. I guess
I just feel out of the loop. Do you happen to know about the schools?
Thanks. Suzy/Navy Grandmom
Karen,
Thank you for the nice words of welcome. This is my very first time on the website and my first born going into the navy on July 22nd. He has chosen the seabees and is looking forward to driving heavy equipment after basic and school. It is all very new to me although I myself am the daughter of a career Navy man. It is scary and exciting at the same time and I am very thankful that I have someplace to go for questions and support.

Thanks for the welcome, Karen,
I was curious about this website so I wanted to check it out. My son is coming up on his sixth year with the Navy. Sometimes it still feels like he just went in. I had a recent visit from him this past week which was wonderful. He's getting married next year. He's stationed in North Carolina right now.

thank you kaern for the welcome and yes!!! i'm sure to have ton's of questions and need tons of support my self. let me proudly introduce that my 19 year old steven has signed up and still awaits boot camp. he will go in to be what he's always wanted to be... a firefighter. yes, i am scared and concerned. as a mommy to 7 kids {steven is smack dab in the middle] i'm very apprehensive but extremely proud. i am having trouble resigning myself that my baby boy won't be around the house, let alone so far away. steven is definately one of the strongest bonds in our family. i have no pics yet, i need to figure out how to do that part first. but all i would have for the time being is current long-haired steven and no future navy short-haired steven's yet! but iwill! please stay in touch with me and we can give each other support. prayers to you, your family and your navy son. cherri
I am so glad my daughter sent me the link for this site before she left for Basic. Everyone is so encouraging and a blessing for me! My daughter is graduating on July 2 and we are going up for it! It will be so good to see her again! She is going into the IT program in A school. I haven't heard from her too much yet.
Thankyou Karen for the warm welcome. My son is stationed in Fort Worth, Texas for over 3 years now. He is a aviation structure mechanic and does military police. my oldest son was in for 5 years on the John F. Kennedy as a aviation electrician , he has been out now a few years. I wish he would go to school and use his college money but he got married and is working so much. I wish I knew about this website before, its wonderful. Karen
Thank you Karen for the warm welcome. My daughter is taking the Asvab on the 22nd and although I am nervous, I could not be more proud of her. It is so comforting to know that this site is here with other moms who are right there with me. Thanks again.
