Cindy,
Life sneaks up on us and we just roll with it. It all worked out. World oF Warcraft card packs went out with a personal letter and I decided to do my trivia geek pleasure and give the winner of the trivia a $20 gift card to the winner. Once the crew gets back on land it seems they won't be hard pressed to find one.
Hi Cindy, We will have to get together for coffee after I get back. Richard was home for a week but had to give him back yesterday! *sniff, sniff*. Greg will be flying back to HI on the 29th so I will get to see him before I come home. YaY! I hope the girls' day on the 26ths goes great! Will think of you guys. Take care.
Cindy, Ya I won't be here on the 26th. I will be playing with Ian. :) Greg will hopefully be home the end of Sept. He is so done with these deployments. He has been sea duty for nine years and just wants to stay home. As for Richard, his ship was in the yards - meaning they were repairing and upgrading it. So soon they will be going out on week long trips to get everything up and going properly, getting things qualified. Even ships have to qualify. I think they leave on deployment some time after the first of the year. .......Morgan going PA - that would be great! A good job in the civilian world too. Yes we do need to get together for coffee and get caught up. My favorite coffee place, Living Water, closed down. The whole bookstore. I was upset. ...... So where are you ladies meeting this time. I guess I should go read. LOL. I hope you all have a great time. Will miss going. After this week and until I go any day for coffee is good for me. Let me know if you want to get together. Talk to you later.
Oh Mrs. Potato Head, I missed yas last week/end. No prob, hope you shook that headache. Hey wait, can't you just pop a new one on? LOL No, maybe not, well put your ears in at least next chance you get. I wanna chat before I get to finally meet and hug you in person! Oh wait, maybe that's your strategy, stretch it out until I have no choice but to come down (?) there! HA! Ok, but you'd better either have your Idaho gathering mid sat am OR have the sofa bed ready, cuz I don't do coffee or cross state night driving in unfamiliar territory. =) Seriously, would love to pop in, just let me know the date when it's decided and I'll see what I can work out. Blessings and, of course, prayers and ((HUGGSS)) Love ya :)
Surprise!!! Thought I would check in here and see what's going on. I see the ID mom's have really increased. That's good. I hope all is well with you. I hope all is well with Morgan. He should be full-fledged Medic now right? Greg is on another special deployment. It seems they are short helo controllers. Hopefully he will be home soon. Richard's ship will be out of the yards soon so they will be going in and out for awhile getting things up and running smooth. I go to Hawaii on the 22nd and am so excited. Let me know how things are going for you.
our boy was honor guard flag berrer....he has grown so much as a person..they took top honers in every thing that was really cool...will go to a school now for gunners mate.....
How are you Cindy? Long time no hear. My Sailor son has orders for Camp Pendleton in Mar 2010. I'm so happy he is coming closer to Idaho. He did extend for an extra year to get that. I hope you had a great summer...
Thank you so much for the info. I spoke with a retired marine last night on the corpsman.com website and he said basically the same thing, that as long as he doesn't make trouble or have an attitude (which he won't) then he will do just fine. He is in pretty decent shape and used to hike a lot although he never carried such a heavy pack but I am sure he will be okay. Especially since he is used to doing it in high altitude! lol
I live about 2- 2 1/2 hrs away, just depending on what part of Denver you are in. We are east of Colorado Springs out on the plains. I would love to meet you but I don't think I would be able to make it up there. I hope you guys have a great time!
We will be going to CT in Oct when he is finished and we are very excited about that.
I am so glad I found the CP group, it has already been so informative and has helped us sift through rumors vs. facts. Thanks again!
Hi Cindy
how are you doing? I am setting here at the toyota dealer they told me 1 hour it has been 3. How are you and your family doing? are you enjoying the summer? How is Morgan doing?
Dear Cindy,
Have you been recieving my e-mails? I always seem to have trouble with yours!!
So Morgan is gettng married, well I guess a Congratualtions is in order!
That's all I've been hearing, the new Sailors getting married. You're the third mom to write this to me!! HAHAH!
I'm doing good. Nine more days for my hearing aides. I can't wait. My left ear did well with it. My right ear died, but the audiologist wants me to wear a loner hearing aide for the month. Just to see if there's any improvement, before she makes that final decision if I'm approved for the Cochlear Implant. I just pray I am not notified that my hearing aide isn't ready yet! UGH!
Darlene is in Virginia for the week. She did have some time with Kim, and even got a tour in the ship. WHich I'm surprised, only for the fact, the Sailors are working around the clock preparing for a major inspection.
Now the ship pulled out for anoter test run. Kim asked me if I can go down there for Christmas. I am thinking of it. Now that I'm over the intial shock of flying out to Chicago!! HAHAA!!
That's nice having company. Enjoy their visit.
Not much really going on here. My son David has been good, or at least not caught!! UGH! He has a new girlfriend, she seems nice. I flipped out on her age. Both Doug and I have been having talks with David. He's skating on thin ice. I told him, he better not be doing anything with this girl, she's a minor. SHe's 14 he's 18. I told him, he can get arrested on two counts, satutiry rape and pedephile.
Never a dull a moment with him. Please keep him in prayer.
I guess that's it for the moment.
You stay well and cool.
Take care and God bless,
Your friend,
Barbara
Hi, Cindy...thanks for the note. My son went in wanting to do Special Ops & was even planning on SARC after he selected Hospital Corpsman. I know he has the romantic idea that combat will be glamorous, even though in real life he actually has been in some dramatic situations and should know better. He is training with the Marines right now, with the idea he will be assigned to them in the future, perhaps to Afghanistan (he says most Corpsman go there). But for now I'm praising God he will be in the states for a while. He told me he thought about me & his girlfriend and selected duty stateside to start. Saying a prayer for your Corpsman. My prayers for peace have become more fervent since he enlisted! AND I wish the Marines would train their OWN Corpsmen, but you know what they say about wishing in one hand...
I see you're from Idaho; beautiful state, and a far cry from much water...interesting your Corpsman chose the Navy! :) God Bless!

Great to hear from you Cindy. Glad to hear Morgan is well. Thanks for rambling. We haven't been on much lately. Seems like with all the excitement of pirates subsided for now, we have had our minds on other things. We'll try to get back into the Navy mom and dad mode. We heard from Andy on Thursday, the 30th. He is well. We are counting the days until we stand on the pier in NORVA to welcome the Bainbridge home. He said he loves being at sea, but is homesick, too. Teketa is moving into a new position at work and hopes that it won't interfere with Andy's homecoming. She said she would hate for there to be a conflict and work would have to do with out for a few days when Andy returns. Ethan, our younger son moves into the dorm on Aug. 22. He will only be 30 miles away, so, not too bad. He might come home on weekends, but, with him, probably not. God bless you all. We are still praying for our sailors. We ask God to watch over Andy and all his shipmates, that includes the shore sailors, too. Andy said that the thing he most proud of, he's not called by his name any more, but is called, "Boats."
Hi Cindy,
Thanks so much for contacting me. My husband has spoken highly of you. He loves NavyDads! My son graduates Aug. 21st. We have decided to drive (16 hrs) just in case he is a grad & go. Getting information out of our son is like pulling teeth! LOL Once he is done with BC he will be headed to Pensacola for "A" school. He will be an AM. I have never been to Florida, so I plan on heading that way ASAP! :) The time is dragging by, but I look at the "countdown" timer at least a dozen times a day! We are down to 27 days and counting!

I come to share some coffee with you!! HAHA! Tea if you prefer! HAHA!
I do have you and your family in prayer. Everyone here is fine.
I have Kim until Thursday. Her ship passed inspection, so the Sailors got time off.
I have a hearing aide, finally. I'm still adjusting to it, but I'm doing good. I feel connected with the world again.
I hope everything is good on your end of the map.
How is Morgan doing?
He's also in my prayers.
Write when you have a free moment.
Love,
Barbara
