Hello everyone,

Just joined and have been reading and enjoying all the posts and information.  Our recruiters weren't the greatest at preparing us, but I have found this place to be a great support group.  I got "the box" which actually ended up being 2 boxes and the form letter so I know that my son's PIR is 4/28/17.  I am one of those hyper-planners when it comes to reservations so I have already booked a hotel. Don't worry, I can change the dates if necessary.  I am hoping that the group for our PIR will be up soon so I can link up with other moms/wives/GFs.  Plan on being here often when I am not at work (I work nights so I am usually on very late--today being an exception).  Hope to hear from you all soon.

We also have a son in the PIR 4/28 group. We aren't familiar with having a family member in the military so the information on here is invaluable. Thanks for all those that post and share.

I also have a son whose PIR is 4/28/2017. I also found that the recruiters didn't give us, the families, much information as to what we could expect. Most of the information I was able to find here, thank goodness. I got my letter yesterday and booked the hotel last night. I am worried about booking the flight b/c of cancellations. I agree, I have found this information invaluable! Hope to meet/talk with some of the families!

Hi Newbie Navy Mom!  My son's PIR date is May 5th, but I plan to go ahead and book my flights today.  If you use Southwest airlines, you can get a reusable ticket as opposed to paying outrageous prices for refundable ones with other airlines,  The downside is that Southwest only flies into Midway from RIC, which I read has the worst traffic.

Hello everyone. Both my daughters are in div 925, PIR 4/48/17. We booked rooms at SpringHill Suites by Marriot.  Was wanting some thoughts if any of you have stayed at this hotel. Do they allow door banners?
