We heard from our son's recruiter today that our son was placed in the 900 Division. This shocked me because he has absolutely no musical experience....NEVER had a music lesson in his life. lol. Nor drills, nor marching, nor ROTC background. Is there any explanation as to why he would have been put in the 900 Division? Is it possible that it could have been a punishment of some kind? I am very confused and frankly a little worried. Thanks for any insight you can give me.

Lol.. my daughter graduates in October, DIV951... it's a good thing

My son was in the 900 division and he carried a flag in the Graduation. He was not musical at all!

There are three types of 900 divisions.  My son is in the Ship Staff/Honor Guard division.  These SRs are "performing" various duties during the PIRs.  Some are in the Honor Guard, the group that marches in and is inspected.  Others are in the Ship Staff portion.  They are manning various stations at the PIRs.  From what I have learned, these recruits are asked some questions when they arrive at BC.  I think they're looking for those who appear to be able to handle the extra responsibilities that go along with the normal routines.  My son has been very busy and hasn't had much down-time.  He's very proud of being in his division!

Thank you all for your help. It makes sense that he might be in the Honor Guard/Ship Staff division. So excited to see him at PIR. I feel a lot better.

Enjoy PIR! It is very exciting and wonderful to watch! Congrats on your soon to be sailor!

Hi.  I was told that if my daughter is in 900 division, (919) it is a honor and she displayed high  military bearing and leadership.  She had to tryout for that division and she was selected to be in the honor guard, flag detail.  So, be proud!!!  xxooo

The letter is here he is in the 900 division. Don't know what it means praying that is good.

Is he in 921? Or what number?

My son is on Ship 02 Div 924 from the beginning of Bootcamp

I am enjoying the conversation about the 900 division.  I am now wondering if that is where my son will be.  He has marched in a Drum Corps for 2 years.  He has told me that the recruiter has asked him about it.
