OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My heart told it would arrive today. One of the " perks" of living one state away I suppose. I opened the door and all I saw was my sons name in huge letters and the " S" looking at me. No note , just his belongings, he even put the travel toothpaste, mouth wash , & toothbrush in there that I told him to toss

For those keeping track he was at a hotel Sunday 5/14 , " the call " came Monday night 5/15 & " the box " came today Friday 5/19

One more step on the journey.

I got the box today also. I have been on the Navy site most of the day. From an older post from lemon elephant I found the bc questionaire. I have started a letter to him and will include this questionaire with a return envelope. My son and I don't have the best relationship so this has been alot more emotional for me than I expected. Even to see a FedEx vehicle drive up. At what point do you stop crying?

It will get better. Keep writing so you have letters to mail when you get The Form Letter. Having the address to send letters to and being able to plan for PIR will help.

Wisconsinmom - I was a puddle of tears leading up to the day we dropped him off. For some reason I haven't cried since .... it's either some form of shock or I've simply come to terms with all of it. I'm sure it will hit me again at some point.

My son shipped Monday 5/15 as well and his box arrived yesterday.
