I don't really see lots of mineman discussion here.
My son is currently in Point Loma, San Diego, CA. Was told that he will be there for his A School till Aug 2017, then he will be off to his next order.
Hope to connect with other mineman mom here!!!

Hello I am also a mineman mom, my son did his A school at Point Loma as well and graduated in April.  He is still in San Diego just at 32nd street just a few miles down the road. he is stationed there for 3 years.  You are right I don't see much on mineman anywhere.

Hello there, mineman must not be a very popular job haha..., there's so few of them out there.  Sometime I wonder how long and where they station them, my son is so excited that he can't wait to be on a ship. Does your son ever get deployed on a ship?  Lot of young kids that join the Navy so they can serve and travel to different countries, at this point after ready that your son will be station in San Diego for 3 year, maybe some of them don't get ship out at all?

I am sure it depends on the needs.  There were only 5 in his graduating class and only 1 of them deployed the rest stayed in SD.  They are assigned to a ship and will work on it.  You just have to wait and see when he graduates what is available and where they need him.

Yeah, no matter where he will be station in the future, I am proud of him.  He is the FIRST to join in the family.

How are things going with your son?
