Yesterday was absolutely one of the hardest days of my life!  I sobbed almost as much as when my Dad died and that was alot!  Why does it have to be so hard?  We know they will leave at some point and build their own lives but this seems so . . . . final.  Is everyone struggling with this?

Oh my gosh you just took every word out of my mouth my dad died four years ago suddenly it was rough but my son leaves today and yesterday and today have been the hardest days - my heart feels broken I didn't know I could cry this much for this long. I know this is he process we are to raise our kids to be strong and confident and independent but why is it so hard to let them go and be them. I am so close to
My son our whole
Family is extremely tight my heart just feels broke.

A friend of mine has a son that just completed Marines boot camp and she said, "Nobody really knows how you feel until they go through it.  I felt so alone!"  I now understand completely.  My son, my only child, is the reason my heart beats and now it feels like it can't beat without him.  Ridiculous I know.  We WILL survive this and the sadness will be replaced with bursting pride!  I'm counting on it.

Yes the sadness will be replaced with an overwhelming amount of pride. We revised good kids that are courageous and selfless - be proud of yourself as well you did a great job.
Yea yesterday was the hardest day of my life my son left yesterday and I've been crying ever since I bust out crying on my way to the grocery store today smh that damn phone call does not make it any better it's like he is in jail smh and does anybody know the address how are we supposed to write if he can't write for 3 weeks I don't care if he can't write back I just want to send him letters everyday to let him know that he is heavy on my mind
Start writing letters everyday and on about day 11 you will receive the form letter stating his ship and division to send him letters that way he will get a bunch at one time he will feel the love for sure

He's still sitting at airport in Alabama.  Their flight has been delayed and may not even make it out today.  I hate to think of him sitting in the airport all freaking day but on the upside, I have him in the same state for another day and can text and talk on cell phone.  On the other hand, it feels like picking at a scab that is trying to heal . . . . I just can't be happy today.  I'm having a hard time finding my new "normal."

So my SR sat at the Montgomery airport from 10:30 AM - 7:30 PM yesterday because Delta couldn't get a decent plane.  They finally arrived in Atlanta last night around 10:00 PM and the Navy put them in a hotel for the night with a 7:55 AM flight time.  HOWEVER, the team of 6 couldn't locate one of their group so they missed that flight!  They finally got a stand by flight at 10:25 AM and are headed to Chicago.  Very stressful couple of days for mom!

wow poor guy- what a way to start it all off

My son left Tuesday he also missed his flt . They have them the wrong time. Luckily they ended up getting a flt out of Montgomery to Nc to Chicago And I got my phone call at 1:30 that night. It is so hard to have him gone. My son is 24 so he hasn't lived at home for a while but he was just 30 min away. I just cry spiratically. My oldest son just got a job in Atl so they both are leaving at the same time. We are suppose to let them go but it does hurt so much.
