Youngest son called tonight to let me know I'll receive his box soon. As an army brat, and wife of a former Marine I'm not new to this. When it's your baby though, all bets are off. I held it together while saying good bye this afternoon. I didn't cry in front of him, I smiled and told him not to say anything about his dad the jar head, his retired army grand parents, or his 5 years in JROTC. Also told him not to say anything about his birthday, which is tomorrow. My oldest son (by 6 minutes) is finding it difficult being away from his twin. This is the first separation in 18 almost 19 years. My oldest leaves for boot camp in 45 days and I'm sure his leaving will be just as hard. They wanted to do the buddy program, but at MEPS, they had no more jobs when it was my oldest turn. I'm finding myself tearing up at odd moments still. My poor husband I'm sure doesn't know what to do with me. Driving back home after saying goodbye it was all I could do not to scream my fool head off. I probably would have felt better but it would have freaked out my son and husband. I'm just counting down the Fridays until I can see him again. Two recruits, two PIR. The joys of having twins!

Welcome to this part of the journey. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening and what to expect.

Wow! Two on the journey so close.

I can't even imagine what his brother is going thru spending his first birthday without his twin. My son left 8/8 for boot camp. I am holding up for now but his 12 year old sister has been sleeping in his room. I can not even imagine doing it twice at almost  the same time . Stay strong , positive vibes .

Laura!  Does that mean our boys graduate on the same day?!  :-)

Oi!  I cannot even begin to imagine how you must feel!

I feel for you and all these broken mom hearts. Mine will join you tomorrow at 10:30 when it breaks into a million pieces. I'd love to connect with any of you mom's to lean on each other. I'm a good listener ....but also a crier

Marilee, I left info for you on your My Page.

Check out https://www.facebook.com/NavyRecruitTrainingCommand. The PAO posts random photos randomly. There is no guarantee that your recruit will be photoed, but it is fun to look at the photos and get an idea of what is happening at the RTC. They do not have pages that follow a particular division.

https://www.facebook.com/ASBPGreatLakes has pics of some of the recruits who give blood while at the RTC. Those donations occur about 2 weeks (10 to 16 days depending on the division) before PIR.
