I use the Sandboxx app to write my SR, and they have a travel agent. My non-stop flight on United was a round trip rate of $237.  When I had to change the date of the flight because her PIR changed, there was no United change fee (that's usually $200) because I paid the travel agent fee of $35, which is like trip insurance.

I use Booking.com to find hotels because I can book but not pay until I get there.  We are a couple of miles from the base, and my room was $387 for four nights, including all taxes, free wifi, free parking.

We are using Avis at a location near the MIdway airport but not in it.  My son has USAA, and he got us a 7-passenger SUV at that location for around $325, including all taxes, for four days.  With car rentals, away from the airport is better for prices.

Thank you so much for the information Junogirl, I really appreciate it.
We went through AARP travel. We got round trip, nonstop tickets from Seattle to O'Hara for 299.00 our rental car for 203 and hotel for 250. This is for three days with tax in clouded. Of course the only catch is you must have a AARP membership and can only get one if your 50 or older. The membership is only 12.00 a year and they have other great benefits besides travel. Hope this helps.
Navy mom 351- I have been doing this for the last two weeks trying to find the best price. Southwest Airlines you have to check daily.. hotels, I've checked through the list they give you with your form letter. I think they need to update as the prices were about 5-10 dollars more. Or check on hotels.com or oriceline
Thank you so much for the information. I actually just got my letter with all the information and also a letter from my daughter on Monday.

A friend of ours said with flying its more convenient but he prefers driving since flights can be delayed etc. Also the issue of getting a rental car at the airport. My husband decided it would be best to drive the 10+hrs from PA. We are probably going to purchase a EZ Pass for tolls and I reserved a hotel online. Everything is subject to change which is quite stressful. I'm worried the weather will be bad in November. If you have AAA or AARP you may get a discount depending on where you stay. Oh, I booked my hotel online through https://military-hotels.us/illinois/ns-great-lakes-il.html. Also good to look at reviews on trip advisor. I was going to stay at a previous hotel but read there was bed bugs there:/ Good Luck!

Hi, thanks for the information on everything, I really appreciate it. I’m also thinking about driving as well, because the flights are getting very expensive and I’m trying to save a little. But, the thing is that I’m coming from Florida and it’s about a 21-24 hour drive to the where I’m going.
