Yes, I am having difficulty posting from my phone.  I am now on the computer and will attempt to reply again.  Hope it is not my phones fault.  I don't want to buy another phone.

SailorsLlMom-thanks for the advice.  My new motto will be "dress up, show up, shut up". Easy to remember just have to practice "shut up" :)

JayDee-Congrats to your oldest.  I love it when their intelligence exceeds our understanding of their field of work.  We just smile and say "good job sweety, so proud of you", then be happy they are the one achieving their dreams.

Yes, there is hope for the marriage.  I pray that they both fall madly in love with God then fall madly in love with each other.  Their jobs and duty station does allow for daily communication.

This is such a wonderful place to share and have Navy Moms that understand and support each other.  Thanks to all for prayers and advise. <3

On a non-Navy note, my oldest daughter has been published again and also did the artwork for the paper cover!  She's lead on this paper and I'm super excited for her.  Unfortunately I'm not smart enough to read and understand what she wrote.  I just look at the pictures :)

bbcregular, prayers for you and your sailor.  There is hope.  My husbands work kept us apart for almost 10 years.  I'm glad that it was not early in our marriage but as SailorsLIMom said, our dedication to our marriage and our values saw us through it.  Being a MIL is difficult isn't it?  I'm constantly checking my tongue when my sailor tells me about her husband. Don't get me wrong, he's a good guy but I realize my counsel is probably not wanted or needed all the time :).

Anyone else having issues posting from their phone?  In the last week I've noticed that the auto correct goes crazy.  Even if I type a space, that space gets filled with a random letter.  Now I have to be super patient when typing (not easy) or wait until I'm on my computer to respond.  UGH.

Oleander, enjoy that girl and get your hug bank filled up!

PS. Our daughter is in the Navy in Nuke school, that's the Navy connection here.

Of course, I don't know you bbcregular, but one story I can share: our son, now 30, and his wife, 29, were separated for the better part of 6 years while he finished college and med school.  Rarely saw each other as they were in different parts of the country and she had a regular job with little time off. They are happily married now and he's almost done with his residency.  They credit staying together with having the same values and belief system about what matters in a relationship.  So take heart, if they can talk to each other, there's hope. As to the MIL part--well, it ain't easy.  As my best friend's mother used to say, "Dress up show up, and shut up."  Still very hard for me to do, but what's the choice?

Comment by bbcregular on February 26, 2018 at 7:40am

Oleander - so happy she is home - extra hugs from Navy moms.

JayDee - you be careful out there - no driving in high waters.

My sailor is doing great. She has joined an outside of the Navy writing group. That gives her some outside distraction and allows her to stay creative. Her husband is in C school. He has bought a car and rented an unfurnished apartment. He tells us he is allowed to live off base since he is married. Ugg...I need to keep my opinions to myself but WHY? Y’all need to pray for me to be a good MIL but I do not see any of this as a good thing. At this time in their careers they will not be together for another 3-4 years. They do not know when they can get leave at the same time. It may be Christmas for my daughter. Ugg, their marriage needs lots of prayer.

Anna and Oleander you both have great news! Hooray for hugs and new knees!

We have lots of flooding as the Ohio River is at historic high levels. The highway in Louisville was even closed and the river has not crested yet.

Yay Anna! Wonderful news!!!!!! Sending prayers for a quick recovery and complete healing!!! I'm so happy for you. We'll all be with you in spirit, let us know how you're doing when you can. In the meantime sending lots of love!

Sailor returned from deployment Feb 2nd, we were there for the homecoming and it was wonderful! She's actually home right now on leave so we're soaking up every minute.

Hugs to everyone!
