Hi everyone! My daughter is in BC right now. She signed up for STG, do they still go to GL first before flying to SD for A school? Please help. Thank you.

runnermom thanks for the info.  Makes the little bumps and surprises along the way a little easier to prepare for and deal with.  Thank you again!

horizon2018 my son had PIR on January 12th.  He was told he would go to A school in SD immediately after PIR.  At PIR we found out he was staying at GL for a basic class.  That class just started 2 weeks ago.  He will be in GL 5 more weeks then go to SD for A school.  I hope your Sailor doesn't have to wait that long to begin class.

My son is currently in BC.  His contract is 6 years (4 active 2 reserve).  His recruiter told him he would be flying out the Saturday following PIR to SD for A-school, but another Navy mom said he would be staying at GL for a few more weeks then to SD.  I was just curious what other STG mom's have experienced.

Just waiting patiently for his class to fill so he can begin training.

Do a majority of the SNT spend their time on a ship?

Comment by boogieboysmom on July 25, 2017 at 9:42am

Ok, so it sounds like there are many different possibilities of what could happen.  He sent me a text and said that he will be going on to his C school and then the goal was to get him on a ship before the end of the year. Thank you all for the information.

My daughter its a 6 yr, she is in C school now getting ready to finish and go to the ship. All of her schooling will be completed prior to going to the ship however many of the other have gone to the fleet after finishing A school.

My sailor signed for 6 years and was sent to ship at the completion of A-School. I believe orders to his ship were for 28 months. He is expecting C-School afterwards. I think it just depends on what the Navy needs when.
