Good morning,

My daughter...my baby has enlisted and will be leaving for boot camp in November.  She will be the first in the family to go to the military so this is all new, and hard for me.  I will support her 100% and am very proud of her decision but will miss her greatly.  Her father passed away when she was 8, so for a long time it's just been us.  Thanks for allowing me to be a part of this group.

Jessica'sMama, welcome!  All that anticipation and the unknown in the months before they leave is never easy.  When it's just you two it only increases the anxiety.  After my  daughter left for boot camp I was on my own at home.  My husbands job kept him away from home for up to a year at at time so my relationship with my youngest child (and sailor) was the core of my existence.  My daughter made a list of things she wanted to do pre-boot camp and together we worked through them. It helped the time pass more easily and kept us busy, together.  She also did a few things without me which helped me get my mind around her being away.  Hang in there momma and know that this is an incredible group with strong support.  We may not be super chatty every day, but any day I reach out one of these incredible moms reaches back to me.  Just tell us how we can help and feel free to "put it out there".  We really get it.

Welcome Jessica's Mama!  Thank you for raising such an Amazing daughter, goes to show how "special" you are.  Proud to stand beside you and call you a Navy Mom.

It is Hard but WORTH it.  My daughter was in for 10 years, met her husband and she's out now but Son-in-law is still in and they have a 1 year old daughter.  My Sailor was my youngest and Wow was it different!  Other children went off to college but we could visit or talk to them, get to them if they needed us.  Hello Navy, we had to REALLY let go and trust God.  It's a Wild Roller Coaster ride. But we're all here to help you along.  We'll cry, vent, celebrate and laugh with you.

Thanks for your sacrifice. My Prayers go up for you and your daughter.

Thank you so much for your reply!  It means alot to know that other moms have been through this and made it through to tell about it!

How awesome that your daughter was in for 10 years!  I know that you are super proud of her!  And that 1 year old grand daughter is your heart I'm sure.

The letting go part will be hard I know but we are use to trusting God, at times that was the only option!  Thanks for your prayers!

Welcome Jessica’sMama!

My youngest will graduate boot camp this Friday! I didn’t know anything about the Navy when she enlisted. Only had two weeks to prepare before she left! I cannot tell you how much I relied on Navy For Moms for support/questions and information. The Moms here will help you and your SR through this journey. They are the best!

MalsMom, I hope you get to go to PIR it's Wonderfully emotional and the PRIDE.  Even if you don't I know Your Heart and Soul is with them.  I tear up just thinking about these New Sailors and their lives to come.  Prayers going up for Your Daughter and all the new Sailors.  God Bless them and keep them.  Hugs too you

Hi Jessica's Mama! Welcome - this site and these wonderful women will be a great help to you as you embark on this journey! My sailor was my baby too - and the 1st to enlist so I can totally understand your feelings. My husband travels a lot for business so it was just me and her for a long time. You'll get through this, we all have and we'll be here for you! Spend lots of quality time together and cry in private. My breakdown moments usually happened in the shower haha! We're here for you!
